This is most likely due to folks showing up at 10 am. I never understand why folks need to be on the ship so early. I never show up to the terminal until 1 pm or later. No crowds.

Maybe they drive far and have to account for potential traffic. I know I do, so if I luck out and hit very little, I'm there early. If I crap out and hit traffic, I have extra time. Hard to judge traffic when you drive in from longer distances and don't have reliable time-frames like those closer or staying near ports.

And what is the name of this magical shrimp circle dish?

Actually found a menu, it's just called grilled jumbo shrimp, marinara sauce and mustard potatoes. I don't remember tasting marinara but do remember the  yummy potatoes. That menu still shows flat iron available so it's probably old but I'm pretty sure the dish is still called grilled jumbo shrimp.

YES and it was so good we asked for a second serving which was promptly served to us with a smile.  While we noticed the change, we preferred this better.

I got second serving too, had one less shrimp on it for some reason but was just as good. That is a great dish, hope it's around next time I'm back on, so good.

I'm sorry you contracted covid and hope you'll have a speedy recovery. Can you shed any other light on your quarantine? Did you have to relocate to a different cabin and if so what type of cabin did they give you? How was food delivery and general attention paid to you? You seem OK with everything considered; I've been following the same situation over on the Celebrity board and people there are up in arms over the way they were treated.

Celebrities and Princesses always want special treatment. 😁

So your point is none of us should believe anyone except you, Did I get that right?

Sure sounds that way. I'm not even sure he realizes what he's saying but that's pretty much what he implied lol. No one else is to be believed since it's hearsay, but his opinion is verified by him and is valid and not hearsay. Essentially, we all only believe ourselves and disregard everyone else. Kind of defeats the purpose of a discussion/banter/review forum since literally all of CC is hearsay unless you only participate to read your own posts. 😕

I am an American of African descent and I think we also were well represented on our Panorama sailings.

We also met several guests from Utah on each Panorama cruise, quite a few in fact.

Yes, plenty of black Americans as well. I just assumed that was a given, didn't mean to leave anyone out. Cali is "worldly" and "cosmopolitan" 😁

  7. Nearly all Americans, mostly from CA, NV, AZ, NM and other surrounding states in the area. Lot's of folks from the SF bay area and LA area as well. Young, old, kids, singles, couples, it's a nice mix of people from all over. There are a lot of Americans of Asian dissent in both the SF bay area and LA area, Americans of European dissent also and Americans of Latin dissent also. It's a mix of everyone.

You leave the restaurant. I don't want or need to hear your problems. Take it outside.

You do not eat and facetime, business call or not.

Fair point, I'm usually too busy minding my own business, conversing with others or having a good time to let these little slights bother me but I get that some people sit around looking for every uncouth act/action. Seems like a waste of time and energy since you can only control you and can't change others but I digress. If my kids/family called, I'd answer even if I was standing before the Pope, sorry bro, It's my kids, hang on a second...lol.

This  gentleman is eating soup while on Facetime with someone on shore.image.thumb.jpeg.acb330b94b3bd1e84ed60f9d4eff3541.jpeg

She's just on the phone while at dinner, easily overheard by everyone.

    Both in MDR

The lady on the phone looks like she is in distress and/or has gotten some bad news. All the non-verbal signs are there (crossed arms, hand over heart, face, eye brows). When you work in loud environments, you learn to read faces. The guy may have had an important business call or some other drama going on. You really can't judge based on simple observations unless you know the facts behind the scenes. I'd make a phone call under numerous emergency/critical circumstances, yes, even while at dinner.

  10. Cantankerous, curmudgeonly and uppity folk who think their mass market line is a luxury line and who don't want to mingle with the unwashed masses. They imagine themselves as aristocrats & sophisticrats and claim Carnival is beneath them. We Carnival cruisers are all simply too uncouth to be around and grace their upper echelon circles. Oh, and we aren't "worldly" or "cosmopolitan" enough I guess also. The Tarjay crowd doesn't want to mingle with the Walmart crowd because they fancy lol.

The protagonist is wearing basketball shorts and a baseball cap so we can be certain this was not on one of Panorama's Elegant Nights 😉

Probably a good thing, imagine getting all dressed up to act so tacky? Always dress for the occasion, probably should of rocked a wife beater, sagged the shorts and made sure the underwear were clearly visible for everyone; would have been a nice touch to add to the ambiance and special occasion of carnal violence. Dress to impress! 😁

What I post are my experiences. What others post, whether they agree with me or not, is hearsay to me (or anyone else). Whether I believe them or not is irrelevant.

That makes no sense, that means that your experience is hearsay also by default. 🤔 If people are posting their first hand experiences, and you are relegating them to hearsay automatically, shouldn't the same apply to you as well? Strange position to have.

We were just on a 6 day for the first time ever, so not sure if this is new, but there was no free lobster on the first elegant night.  Though they did instead have an amazing shrimp dish with the larger shrimps.  They also cut out the pizza from 3 - 8am though we have never had it at that hour anyway.  No tea time, we usually would have gone to it once per cruise.

Was it the grilled shrimp dish in a circle with the brown sauce underneath? If so, we had that on the second elegant night and it was fantastic. The extra effort to grill the shrimp really brought out a unique flavor and it really worked well with the rest of the dish. I'm a bit of a seafood freak and eat tons of shrimp in several varieties from gulf, Argentina and Mexico (Mexican blue is my favorite) and these looked just like regular old standard large/jumbo tail on shrimp you could buy at any supermarket but they tasted soooo good. That was my third favorite dish, behind the lobster and perfectly cooked prime rib on recent cruise.

This actually reminds me that next cruise, I'll be taking photos of all the food, every dish. I didn't get many food photos this last time and I should have.

Safe travels, not sure Lysol will.  All I’m trying to get across is that the crew is wearing masks and passengers are not.  It’s probably a combination of the crew and those who a not willing to admit they are not feeling well and don’t get tested and party on.

There is no one to blame, covid is going to covid, folks need to quit looking for a scapegoat and quit thinking that they can control the uncontrollable. The only way to do that is to stay off cruise ships and away from crowds, period. Mask theater won't protect you, the sooner more realize this and accept reality, the quicker normal cruising returns and we can move on from the covid panic, covid counts and covid hysteria. Look at all the posts of simple stuffy noses and minor symptoms being the worst of it. There will always be a few chiming in with doom/gloom and worse case scenario but the overwhelming majority are asymptomatic or minor symptoms. It's 2022, not early 2020, time to move on to pragmatism and let the fear mongering go.

  15. Wow, never going on Valor lol. Sheesh. Wife showed me a bookface video of a fight on Panorama in the MDR too. What the heck is going on with people? Some folks just can't behave. Embarrassing for Carnival. Hope they start banning folks who are more trouble than they are worth, particularly the fighting chaos causing people. Pulling the race card isn't an excuse either. Just gives more fuel for the "ghetto cruise line" claims that are falsely made about Carnival by some. Nuts.

  16. I had no problem with anytime dining (and never have). Worked perfectly recently as well, with short wait times. It's my favorite and I'll never do set time as long as it's available. Punching a clock on vacation isn't my style. They may need to change the dining rooms and have set-time in the smaller dining rooms, anytime in the larger dining rooms, as anytime becomes more popular.

Sorry I disagree with you & think masks are still necessary. I will be wearing mine anywhere indoors except eating or drinking. Especially in elevators. And yes I have worn my mask all day - not great I agree but better than getting covid!

Awesome! Choice is a good thing. Exercising our personal choices is the way to go, everyone should decide for themselves. Ain't freedom grand!

So what about hospital personnel that are still wearing masks? If they can do it, so can everyone else. If that's what it takes to stop the spread of this virus, I'm for it.

In air conditioning? Gimme a break. Not the same as being outside all day, walking up/down stairs delivering drinks, standing in the sun at the water-slides all day, working in a bar outside all day, painting/cleaning etc outside all day, working any of the other plethora of activities that require crew to be outside all day, all in the hot sun and humid conditions; and a ship isn't a hospital. I don't vacation or go out to eat in hospitals and they don't do surgery or see sick people all day on ships as a business model. Not even close to comparable. You obviously don't see them as equals or you'd want them to have the same choices you do.

They do not wear masks 100% of the time, was on Apex in March and there was a female bar tender who rarely had her mask on the couple days she was at the pool bar.   I was also on the inside tour of the ship (first ever on Apex) and saw plenty of off staff that had no mask on.   I'm guessing when off duty masks are not required.

Good for her! I hope the staff start to push back at the double-standard, they've been masked long enough and it would be great to see their faces/smiles (if they choose of course). I hope masks are optional for them soon too, especially going into the summer months, it would be unbearable to wear them in the heat/humidity. It's unfair for them, if it's safe for the passengers, it's safe for the crew. They are vaccinated and tested just like everyone else, tested more actually. Enough is enough with the theater/nonsense.

  20. The cutbacks are noticeable but most can be mitigated with other options. The one downside that can't is late dining options. Not having the late night buffet puts too much pressure on the pizzeria and creates an overcrowded condition, due to single option availability with regards to food. Once the deli closes, there is only pizza. The late night buffet was a great option to have and helped spread crowds out. It is frustrating having such limited options late at night. The late buffet wasn't the best food but it was a nice option to grab something quick, grub and head out. Hope that comes back when staffing picks back up.
