  1. A table of 12, or even a few tables pushed together would most certainly have a potential to pose a problem to others not in the group. From what I've read it seems that people tend to select BLU for the quietness and service.

  2. It will probably take many years in the court system before we know the final outcome. The cruise lines cannot afford to lose at any level so they will fight any verdict that leaves them vulnerable to further cases. The plaintiffs and their attorneys will fight to the end as they want money and to make a point. The only possible out is a settlement that no liability is admitted, but I would find that unlikely.

  3. What's the difference if you wear a pin that recognizes your level? It was given to you by the line and it's your choice to wear it or not. What's the difference if you wear a fraternal pin or a college pin or any other pin?  Don't people carry some brands of handbags and wear jewelry to indicate status or wealth? Some college football players wear symbols of success on their helmets and military heroes wear ribbons and metals. I see nothing wrong with this. I care more about character than symbols.

  4. NCL is now , in the words of CNBC, "in survival mode". Should RCL consider making an offer for all or part of NCL? I believe that Oceania and Regent would fill some gaps in RCL offerings and if they can get them at a deep discount might be worth the risk. This is a hypothetical question and might and I hope will make for some interesting comments.

For what it is worth, when I had to cancel a cruise at the last minute 6 yeas ago I only got the taxes and fees refunded and zero Captains Club points.   I would not hold out much hope  for earning points on canceled cruises now.  It would be a nice thing but I don't see it happening.

It's a different time and circumstances.

  6. Regent and Silversea are giving points in their recognition program for cancelled cruises as well as the cruises that are taken using the FCC. This would be a good way for Celebrity to "ease the pain" of cancelled cruises and perhaps reward loyalty. Saw this topic on the Crystal board.

Lots of "head in the sand" comments.  This is a CLIA recommendation, not specific to a cruise line.  It is designed more to protect the cruiser.  And, no, you don't know better than the cruise line which has responsibility for everyone on board.  They are a private convenience and can set rules as they see best for everyone embarked.  Again, a CLIA recommendation to its members.

No, it doesn't protect the cruiser since it's not notarized, the doctor can sign in advance of the cruise, there is no screening before you embark, it doesn't cover all who board and anyone can forge a signature. It is solely for the protection of the cruise line! They have a piece of paper that you handed in stating that a doctor thought you fit to travel. That would be their defense.

  8. What has Celebrity done to address the problem? What have they done to win the support of cruisers? I frequently cruise on Crystal and a few weeks they started a program available on another site that features cooking demonstrations, podcasts by speakers and entertainment  This keeps passengers in contact with the line and fuels what they miss by not cruising. What has Celebrity done to encourage their passengers to book future cruises?

Yes, we were there during this whole transition. The time has come for these  =X= supporters to step up. The future of Celebrity requires it.

Really? Isn't it the responsibility of the company to "step up"? Why does the consumer need to "step up"? Celebrity is solely responsible for THEIR decisions. From reading threads they made the decision to build and renovate ships. They decided to make cutbacks in service and quality to increase profit margins. They decided to focus on the bottom line and lessen the focus on loyalty. The consumer will still be able to cruise even if a few lines go out of business. In fact, a reorganization might be beneficial to both the company and consumers by forcing the replacement of some executives and replace them and their philosophy with new people and new approaches.

When cruising re-starts don't expect ships to be very full, so lots of opportunity for social distancing.   They can do all the thermal scans they want but the non-symptomatic will still slip through.

Once a vaccine emerges and I get my shot I am safe.  Doesn't matter whether others are vaccinated or not.  Have no problem though if they try to require proof of vaccination.  I'm sure civil libertarians will have an issue as they do with requiring kids to be vaccinated in order to attend school.

You are safe only if the vaccine is 100% effective. The flu shot is rarely even 50% effective. I still get the flu shot and would get a shot for this. I would not object to a proof of inoculation.
