  1. I know! It feels like gambling and there is a reason I don't gamble; I like sure things! I had planned to wait until after final payment to book the Reflection. But then the prices just never dropped. I booked last year's Silhouette spring TA before final payment for a great price. I guess I got afraid this would be the year/cruise that the prices just never went down and then I'd be cursing myself that I hadn't booked.

But the prices are so crazy! I specifically booked the inside GTY because I figured if balconies dropped into my price range I could upgrade. Well, if I hadn't been vigilant about monitoring the inside price drops I would NOT have been able to upgrade because the balcony GTYs are now LOWER than the initial price I had for an inside GTY booked!

Sigh. Now all I have to do is wait (I hate waiting) and hope I don't end up staring straight at the lifeboats in a 2D.

But we will see you on board!

  2. Well, my original question pertained to the inside GTY I had booked. I did, in fact, see on the Celebrity site under My Cruises, Manage Your Cruise, that I had been assigned an OV, cabin 3106. I was happy with that! Then the next day when checking I see that I'm back to inside GTY. I didn't think it was worth calling X or my travel agent....I was sure X would just say it was a mistake or I was hallucinating.....

Then the day after that I did see that I had been given inside cabin 8169. I wasn't so happy about that; I had been hoping for an inside on Deck 3. But I certainly understand you get what you get with a GTY.

However, the price has dropped on Balcony GTY to less than what I saved on three price drops on my inside GTY so I paid to upgrade to balcony GTY. So now I'm back to waiting again to see how long it takes to get my new cabin assignment!

    I'll keep you posted.

  3. If you are talking about a 2C cabin, a partly obstructed cabin, yes, the only obstruction is looking straight down. We just finished a cruise on the Equinox and had cabin 6299 and we were very happy with it. The obstruction was about five feet of the roof of Blu and we liked that cabin particularly because the ones in the back don't have the lights from the lifeboats on the deck below obscuring your view of the night sky. And I like to believe that the long hike down the hall burned off some calories....

This particular cabin and the few back ones like it have larger balconies than some of the non obstructed cabins above!

  4. I am also on the Reflection's TA in April. We were in an inside GTY. I monitored the prices and got my price adjusted down three times before final payment. I "saved" enough to more than pay for the balcony GTY upgrade today. I felt I'd better do it now before it was put on the Tuesday Special and then would only be for new bookings.

But I am going to monitor the pricing....because next time I may just wait until after final and book. Our time is totally flexible and Choice Air doesn't seem to fluctuate on one way flights....

  5. If the weather is too cool or windy (which I haven't found yet on either Fall or Spring TAs) then there are lots of places to sit...the Sky Lounge, the Solarium, various other venues and you can either read or, as I do, stare at the sea going by. But look at some of the Dailies people have posted....there are scads of activities.

Personally, I get fooded-out on about Day 3 so that's no problem...

  6. You can definitely chose to fly in ahead of your cruise or depart later. I'm flying home three days after our cruise arrives. You just tell Choice Air the dates you want.

As to fly/cruise versus cruise/fly....I had always thought I preferred to get the flight out of the way and then enjoy my cruise back to the states. However, the last time I did that I got sick on the flight over from Typhoid Mary sitting next to me and it made me rethink my strategy!

  7. Don't forget to look at booking your air with Celebrity's Choice Air for a repositioning cruise. For example, a trans-Atlantic cruise we are taking in April requires a one way flight home from Rome to Miami. Choice Air sold us seats at $567 per person, if we had bought it directly from the airline the price would have been $2642 per person!! If you don't know about the great fares Choice Air can give you for one way flights you might think a repositioning cruise is out of your price range!

  8. Can't help you with the list....but we were just on Equinox and yes, the MDR will store wine you don't finish. They put your cabin number on it so even if you are Select as we were and sat at a different table each night, they would still be able to find it for you. In the past we had eaten at Tuscan and Murano and not finished bottles there and they are supposed to be stored in a central area as well, marked with your cabin number and, theoretically, are supposed to be accessible to you at any dining venue on the ship. I found that didn't work as well. I took to carrying my receipt for the wine that shows exactly what I had ordered and where/when and it always found its way home to me.

  9. I booked an inside GTY on the Reflection. I have just received cabin 3106, an ocean view, on Plaza Deck. That's fine with me....I was hoping for my inside to be on Deck 3. But when I looked at the M class Sticky I noticed someone who stayed in 3107 on Solstice had a problem with noise from the deck below. Has anyone stayed in this cabin or any others nearby, either insides or OV, and can address any noise issues?

  10. Sort of off topic....but if you go to the Elite cocktail hour...shorts are not allowed. And some CC hostesses call some ladies capris "shorts." The issue seems to be if the capris cover your knee when you sit down. Personally I consider capri pants to hit mid way between ankle and knee but others consider longish bermuda shorts to be "capris."

  11. We will be sailing on the Equinox 1/31/14. Normally we do self debarkation but this time have a sprained wrist and there this is not an option on this cruise. I'm so used to doing self debarkation that I'm afraid I didn't pay attention on other cruises to the first options after that. We want to get off ASAP to get on the road for a long drive. What time is generally offered as the earliest non self debark time?

  12. Well, the lack of reviews just means everything went well and no one had anything to complain/rant about. lol We sailed her twice last year....both the spring and winter TAs and enjoyed every minute! Well, except for the bizarre experience the first day of the April cruise...sitting outside enjoying myself when a woman came by and asked if she could share our table. I said certainly and she plunked down a HUGE vase of flowers that blocked my view of the harbor...which then blew over in the breeze and absolutely drenched me. She said "Oh, its only water." I couldn't believe it!

But the Silhouette was wonderful on both cruises and I didn't post a review because I had nothing to say other than we had a fantastic time and she is a beautiful ship.
