What is SMS text and how do you use it?

I will have mine on airplane mode the minute we board the plane, so that won't be hard to remember.

Unfortunately, our phones don't have eSims capability. We have installed What's App, but can only use it when we have WiFi. But we refuse to pay $20/day (both phones) to an already outrageous Verizon bill. We were hoping to use our phones if we get separated while in port. Our plan is to go to each go somewhere that has WiFi, and try to call the other. That's a last resort, of course, but you never know.

Could you clarify this? Where was the water taxi going that it only took 5 minutes. Also, that it ran every 30 minutes. We will be boarding Sky in Chioggia April 2 and trying to get our logistics straight. Thanks

We were in Frankfort years ago and passport control was less than 5 minutes. Very clean and organized. Hope you find it to be the same.

Our pax statement say Monaco/Monte Carlo and that it's tendered. In looking at a map, there is a town called Niceville as well. Anyone been to both and can compare? We will just be wandering around, not looking for anything specific, except a great lunch, of course.

We will be on Viking Sky in April, with one day in Monaco. Does anyone know where the port is located and how far from the train station? We would like to take the train, on our own, to Nice and need the easiest route to access it. Thanks.

Loved reading your daily posts back in September, and that 6 months has passed so quickly. I got so many ideas of what we will want to see and do. We aren't on the same cruise, Mediterranean Odyssey, but many of the same ports, so that you for so much detail in your posts and blog...and the pictures were fantastic. We leave next week, starting point, Venice!

If you want a very nice, clean hotel without spending too much, we love Palazzo Del Giglio. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the included breakfast has a vast assortment of items. It is very convenient to a vaporetto stop, and only one stop from St. Marks Square. It is a very quiet location, with only a 5 minute walk into busy center of St. Marks. We stayed there 5 years ago, and will be staying there again in 2 weeks

That is sad to hear. We will be on the Sky in less than 3 weeks, and doubt they will get these issues fixed in that short time. This is our first Viking cruise and hope it won't be our last.

Did you have a long wait by buying your ticket at the wall? We are planning on taking the included tour, and then walking the wall as well.

We are on this same cruise, but the reverse itinerary, leaving April 2. This is also our 1st Viking and only 1 other Caribbean cruise. If you are departing after we return, I will be happy to let you know which excursions we liked. We are taking the included tours in Venice (walking tour Chioggia), Split, Dubrovnik and Corfu. Also, Monte Carlo. In Naples, we are doing Pompeii and Sorrento. We have been to Florence a couple of times, so don't feel it it worth the time it takes to get there, so decided on Lucca this time. We are doing a private tour in Barcelona because the one we had signed up for had a time change to the afternoon. We prefer to do morning tours and have the afternoon on our own.

My 90 year old mother is a stickler for no hats at the table. To my surprise, my 20 year old nephew, abides by that. He is an outdoorsman, hunter/fisherman and wears his cap everywhere. When he came to visit us, we took him to a casual dinner. When we were seated, he took his cap off and said "Grandma said it is impolite to wear a hat at the table". My husband and I were stunned. Never though he listened to anything. We were very proud he has become a fine young man.

We will be booking a cruise with included air. Do we need to choose AirPlus from the beginning, or decide later, if we don't like the flights Viking chooses?

How would one find out if we are embarking on a turn around day? I would love to be able to find a Viking shuttle to the ship.

We were in Venice 5 years ago, and just walked up to the ticket office at Doge's Palace. It was a very short wait, if at all. We were there fairly early in the day, so not sure if it gets more crowded later in the day/

Does Viking even offer water taxis to and from Venice from Chioggia?
