"...the question on tipping rears it head on an almost weekly basis."

    True enough.

It is quite contentious on the luxury cruise message boards. They can get especially snippy, when tipping early in a cruise is mentioned.

And what, pray tell, do you have against bon mots??

I love bon mots! I've been known to eat a whole box while I'm watching my soaps.

    Virtuosa had Lanson included

    Hmmm...

After a quick bit of Google-fu, it seems Lanson is not available in the Carribean cruise region. Perhaps Lanson takes the place of Nicolas Feuillatte in the Mediterranean? It would seem odd, having two entry-priced Champagnes by the glass.

"...champagne bar outside of YC you can also get one of the cheaper champagnes..."

Insofar as actual Champagne goes, NF will likely be the least expensive on the entire ship, including the Champagne bar.

There will be less expensive "bubblies" that are within package price caps, but they won't be Champagne. There is probably a prosecco and an asti at the two lowest price points.

MSC ships do not have craps in their casinos

(I've never been on a ship with a craps table, so this observation comes from casinos on terra firma.)

A craps table is more labor-intensive than card games. MSC is probably looking to keep casino labor down by avoiding a game that has (at minimum) a dealer AND a stickman AND a boxman.

    Just my 3 yen.

"Appears the invitation went out to everyone on the ship, EXCEPT Yacht Club."

    That makes more sense, really.

If YCers are happy with their food, the motivation is somewhat diminished to go to specialty dining.

For the rest of the ship, the specialty dining is a bigger step up from buffet and MDR.

If passenger budget allows, non-YCers will provide better returns on the free food tour.

    one garment bag per couple

I use a high capacity garment bag for both our dress-up clothes. I put dry cleaner's bags on each individual hanger AND garment to decrease friction. My tux shoes and two pair of her shoes are in cloth bags and left loose in the bottom of the bag.

With odds & ends in the bag's many pockets, that makes my carry-on bag.

I simply ask the flight attendant at the door of the plane if I may hang the garment bag in the closet.

    Works like a charm.
