I know things have changed over these past few years. If you have cruised within the past year on one of Princess ships, do they still have formal nights? If not, would you tell me what ships on Princess that no longer do this?

I know many things have changed for cruising over these past few years. If you have cruised within the past year on one of HA ships, do they still have formal nights? If not, would you tell me the name of the ships that don't?

I know many things have changed over these past few years. If you have cruised within this past year does Carnival ships still have formal nights, or are there some Carnival ships where they have done away with formal night, and if so, what are the name of the ships?

To those of you who replied to my question, thank you as I was wondering if Princess had done away with formal nights all together, or just on the Sky, but you answered my question here.

Yes I would prefer the "up to date," but it looks like some of the things I did over my 15 cruises or more, or starting to decline, and that is a disappointment to me, but maybe not to others.

I have been thinking of several ships of trying to decide on which ship for next year. If you have been on the Sky Princess within this past year, do they still have formal nights, or is that out like another ship I just found out about? I know many people do not like to dress up, but several of us do.

CruiserBruce, thank you for answering several of my questions, and these answers have made a big difference in what I had wanted to know about the Nieuw Statendam especially.

A couple of you mentioned the Dutch cafe. Is that free, or is there a charge for what they offer. Other than the MDR, and buffet, what other food is free on the ship? Are there two formal nights or just one? If you purchased any 8 x 10 pictures, what was the price?

I'm glad you posted this. I was thinking of this ship for next year, but with having 6,000 or more people on board, I think that is way too many people (even if it was a tad less) for the 8 of to deal with.

Thank you all for your input on my question. As for a special suite, we generally do the balcony, and want to do the Caribbean. I will definitely take what you have posted so far about this ship in mind, before choseing which ship we will be doing next year.

I am thinking of cruising this ship next year, so hopefully I can get some idea about the ship, by following along with your review.

I worked till I was 74 years old for a BIG corporate office (Frito Lay, Borden, Starbucks, etc.), and was never pushed out the door. When they decided to move from Missouri (I lived very close to my work) to the state of Kansas, that is when I decided to retire. Did I want to, NO. After a year or two of having BAD weather in Missouri, I was GLAD I no longer worked. I've had a couple other friends that didn't want to retire, but after being off a couple years, they are happy they did.

Reedprincess, thank you for your help in regard to my question in regard to the lighthouses. I am disappointed that I cannot go to one and "climb," but time/life does change and I do understand.
