  1. I've booked/paid in advance and then cancelled/rebooked on the ship. People claim that there is a risk of losing your slot to somebody on an alleged "wait list" but most/all haven't had this problem. Certainly, if the Shorex is not sold out when you do this, there is zero risk.
  2. Yeah. That looks "safe." What could go wrong? (with pregnant, elderly, disabled....)
  3. The Captain has a job to do. It is a responsibility to his employer and its shareholders. He hasn't the luxury of overriding that with some internet poster's sense of what's morally right. You should be ashamed of yourself for spewing such nonsense.
  4. That takes me back!!! Shouldn't that be "we're in the Itchy lot?"🤣
  5. I would tend to agree to a point. That said, I think the entitled me-me-me types are more prevalent on cruise ships than many other places. I grew up in the rural midwest. Have lived in a medium sized city half way across the country for decades since. I had to spend some time back there last year and, WOW, everybody seemed so nice! This wasn't Minnesota, but the phrase "Minnesota nice" is real man.
  6. Ironically, I never forget to do that. Hmmm.... I have a Bloody Mary on the ship prior to disembarking and I drive to the Airport with only Caffeine and OJ. Could there be some kind of connection here?
  7. No hate. It's a reasonable question, for many types of physical limitations. Some of us are just old, out of shape, overweight and/or no longer have the level of stamina, coordination, agility we used to. I've actually gone to only considering NCL level 1 excursions for DW and me. Even some of those are more than I want to deal with, especially outside of the US and Canada where ADA is largely unknown. Those open air "busses" used in the Carribean aren't much fun for us. They are loud, cramped and hard to enter/exit. And that was last in St. Thomas for us, which is first world. I can't imagine signing up for such adventures in second or third world countries.
  8. Right there with you brother (or sister). Although, I will hit the treadmill and drink some $10 Prosecco with dinner. I fully embrace the carefree steerage lifestyle. Both at land and at sea.😎
  9. I'm here to help (well, usually). I was actually wearing black moccasin slippers with black Dickies athletic socks. Those compliment my black jersey knit sweats well from ten feet away. The "good" people think I'm wearing nice slacks with penny loafers. They think I'm dressed to the nines, when they are actually a decimal point - or more - off. I may again need @IAcruising's help with the math. What they don't know won't hurt them (until they read my threads on this forum). Fortunately that "hurt" can go away with a few aspirins. Unless it's a deeper hurt. I can't help them with that.
  10. I've read a good pro-tip is to take a photo of that sign as you exit. One of these cruises, I will actually remember to do that.
  11. Same with us. Our first was in 2007, and freestyle was alive and well back then. I've only had to find a way to reconcile my "comfort first" policy with NCL's "pants and shoes" policy. I've got it covered.😎
  12. Refined? refined (adjective) with impurities or unwanted elements having been removed by processing: Yeah, maybe. I guess it depends on what a person finds to be "impurities or unwanted elements." Did I mention that those folks dancing on my innocent toes were well dressed? I'm sure at least one of the guys was wearing a shirt and tie and the lead diva nailed me more than once with her flowing gown (blowing waves of perfume my direction). I would gladly have traded all that elegance for safer toes and a better line of sight with Louis (he was great at engaging us as we followed him around like groupies).
  13. Are you suggesting that people who dress casual are rude? That doesn't sound quite right.
  14. Louis was on our last cruise (Pearl) and he is fantastic. I spent countless hours enjoying his music, and the only rudeness I recall is when a "look at me" group decided that they had to dance right in front of his Piano in the narrow aisle. It really distracted from his otherwise great performance. There was plenty of room for them to dance off to the sides. Flip the coin over and I'm certain that they thought I was rude when I asked them to stop stepping on my innocent toes.
  15. Well, a 1 in 4 chance means probability of 1 divided by 4, or 25% chance. 20% = .2 1/.2 = 500 percent chance. IOW, they're already dead.....five times over. Somebody get @IAcruisingover here to (again) check on my grasp of how percentages work. If need be, I'll mix some calculus in there to try to save my case (again).
  16. 🤣Okay, now THAT'S sarcasm. Maybe I get it "sometimes."😎 However, my friend @yakcruiserapparently didn't know about the "....." rule.
  17. 🤣Thx. It's sometimes hard to separate the two S's on the internet (sarcasm and stupid).
  18. No. The cruise lines have an established process for passengers to board. You can't just "somehow" change the rules on the fly. No Captain in his right mind would do so without clear, documented corporate approval.
  19. I'm only responding because you asked a question. The answer for many, many folks is that while they would enjoy the Haven (I really don't know who wouldn't) and could easily afford it, that's just not how they choose to use their financial assets. You, and I'm sure most in threads like this, don't fall into that category.
  20. In my own defense, I can still integrate x squared to x cubed over 3 to calculate the area under the curve. Does that buy me any cred? disclaimer: I didn't think so.🤣 (and, before anybody gets uppity, I kicked butt in diffy Q; of course, that was a bazillion years ago before a lot of brain cells died of old age and the aforementioned whiskey)
  21. Well it is for one of us and it ain't you! 🤣 I'll blame the whiskey, and unlike most of my crazy, I CAN back that up.😎
  22. There are only 81M people on this blue marble now? Did I miss the rapture? ETA: I guess you meant to say 810,000. That sounds about right. Apparently, we can find a lot of them in the Haven.
