  1. Very cool! I didn't know that was a thing, congrats! I've been following your cruise and it looks like it's been beautiful. Enjoy!
  2. Received notification yesterday afternoon that one of our bids won! Exactly three days before sailing. We were pretty surprised since we bid at the very bottom. Sailing on the Joy, original Cabin was Haven Suite, HJ category. Won Fwd Penthouse, HG category. For us this is great as we gain a living room, larger bathroom (with separate tub & the nice showers we love), but we'll sacrifice the mid-ship location and larger balcony. Here are the details I think most people are interested in: Our bids were all about $10 to $15 higher than very minimum: Bid $615pp for 2 Bdrm, $515pp on Aft Facing PH, and $350pp on Fwd Facing PH (this is what we won). Unfortunately I don't remember what the high/excellent big cap was. Direct upgrade for the rooms we bid on were approximately $2k to $2.5k per person more than what we originally paid. Interestingly, mock bookings this week showed 12 2-Bdrm Havens, and one Aft available, so I'm guessing people in Fwd cabins may have scored the larger staterooms with higher bids. Who knows how the algorithm works! Hope this helps and good luck to those waiting for upgrades!
  3. Very cool! Does hubby recommend any places we should put on our must visit list? Great recap & pics, thank you! Hope you kick that cold...a shot of tequila might be in store for tonight. Lol
  4. You're so sweet to check, thank you! If getting a taxi isn't obvious, I may call them and ask easiest way to get there from the market, we're doing the Foodie Tour, but then have all afternoon to explore. Enjoy your day!!!
  5. Looks like a fantastic day! Weather Channel is saying rain is forecasted for our days in Halifax & St. John, crossing our fingers that they're wrong as usual and it's clear skies for us too! Is Moosehead Brewery on your list for tomorrow? We're planning to make our way there by taxi, Uber (or equivalent if it exists, haven't actually researched it yet), not doing an excursion since we don't care for a brewery tour (seen twenty, seen 'em all, LOL), and most popular sites seem to be easy to get to. Looking forward to seeing what you guys have in store for tomorrow!
  6. Putting this place on our Halifax list, looks right up our alley. T minus 10 days! Thanks for posting.
  7. What are they made of? Were they good? I guess I can wait and request them myself, lol. You guys seem like our kind of people, we'd definitely tag along with you, in fact we were almost there with you and then decided on the 7 day instead of the 10! Enjoy your day!
  8. I saw that pic after I asked, showed my husband and he said, "Christian!" LOL Hopefully he's staying on the Joy for the 9/16 sailing! Looks like your group is having a blast, thanks again for all the posts and pics, I'm going to keep living vicariously for the the next week. 😉
  9. @Sailing12AwayThank you so much for taking the time to post so many photos and updates, you are making me even more excited for our cruise next Friday!!! Do you know if Christian is the same bartender who was on the Getaway last year (December specifically). "Our" Christian was AMAZING, took really good care of us on a 17 day TA, and we would be thrilled to find him now on the Joy! (I'm sure there's more than one Christian bartender in the entire NCL fleet, but in the Haven???. Figured I'd ask. LOL)
  10. It doesn't reduce the cost, just reduces what you owe like a cash deposit. So if you use a $500 CN you'd still owe $6500. The advantage to the CN Haven is that they allow you to reserve your cruise in the Haven using just that certificate (worth $500) instead of having to pay the typical $1500 deposit. This is handy when a cruise is months away and the final payment date is also months away.
  11. I just noticed this too when trying to booking a cruise for next year. The deposit was 10% of the total cost before taxes and bar/dining gratuities. I don't have a Haven Deposit, so can only apply 2 CruiseNext certificates ($500) and the balance was required. I'm sailing on the Joy in a couple weeks and the CruiseNext form at the end of the cruise docs still has "Secure your suite in The Haven with a $500 CruiseNext Haven Deposit", so I'm guessing they haven't done away with it. I'm going to ask onboard and I'll report back (if someone doesn't have the answer before then).
  12. Good reminder for everyone! I think this happens often and I'd hate to think people are getting on their cruises before realizing it and then it's possibly too late to add back in. It happened to us a few months ago, but fortunately I noticed it a week or two before our cruise and had to do the same as you to add it back in.
  13. That's awesome! Would you mind sharing the bid range you had when you won the last two? I've yet to win a Haven bid, but I've paid for it and now I want it again, lol. I have my bids in the high fair to low good range right now for a Sept. sailing on the Joy. Good luck with your Getaway bid, we were in the Haven on Getaway's transatlantic in December and it was amazing.
  14. You shouldn't lose those unless the promo is no longer offered. Right now NCL website is showing all four offers for the August Dawn sailings. Not sure about airfare, if it's something that was part of your original deal, however I upgraded to Haven about two weeks prior to sailing in Dec. on the Getaway (couldn't stand the wait to see if my bid would be accepted!), and although the airfare deal was no longer offered it was still honored since the tickets were already issued. We did lose the two extra Latitudes points, but all other offers were still available. Note that you may need to remind the agent you want to keep your offers, they dropped them for some unknown reason when I upgraded in December and I noticed it after getting the new confirmation, had to call and add them back in! Hope this helps!
