  1. You could screen shot it on your phone and send it to your mom and then she would have it for the both of them. We weren't given vaccine cards and can only access our records through AHS website. I have my entire family on my phone and would show it to the airline when they requested with no issues. We also printed that copy and taped it to a piece of cardboard so we would have physical copies just in case.
  2. My understanding of it was that you only needed proof of covid positive from pcr test within X number of months. When You go to an official testing site and obtain a positive result they should provide you with some type of document. In alberta it was attached to your 'my health record' that you could print off. So if you were to go now and get a positive test the document they provided is your proof and good for 6 months I believe.
  3. ... My apologies to Fouremco...I should have clicked the link you posted first and would have seen that the info posted was from the US customs page. I've deleted my comment!
  4. I agree it's mostly with the rollout and confusion. There were a bunch of stories early on about people being forced to go in to quarrantine or paying a fine because they didn't download the app. There was a story out of alberta where a lady who lived at the border would get packages delivered to an American postal office regularly. When covid hit she couldn't go for a couple years and a package sat there. As soon as border opened she zipped across, was gone for 45 min and didn't have the app filled out upon return. She was forced to quarrantine for 14 days upon return. They wouldn't even let her download and fill it out at the border. Granted they could be isolated incidents, improperly trained workers, or over exaggerated and upset consumers. Either way I agree with previous poster that if they want better buy in they will have to change the name as too many people soured on it. I would prefer to fill out the app and show qr code vs filling out paper forms.
  5. Hello Friends, We have a return flight leaving Sydney, Australia to Canada with a 10hr layover in LAX. We will have our two kids (10 and 8) in tow and trying to figure out what to do. As we will be gone for over 50 days we are gonna have a 1 or 2 extra suitcases. I've tried doing some research to figure out the process. From what I can find we will land in Terminal B, collect bags and clear customs, then recheck bags inside terminal B ; exit the airport; go to terminal 2 where we will clear security again. Our airlines are qantas then westjet. We are thinking if we have to reclear security again we might as well leave for a couple hours to kill time if we don't have our bags with us. We found a day use hotel which should work for us if we don't have to bring our suitcases with us. Spending that much time in the airport with two kids sounds disastrous! Has anyone every done this connection (or similar) and can shed some light on the process? From what i've found most of the people experiencing this thay have commented are connecting in lax to another destination in The USA; not another international connection so don't know of the process will be the same. Thanks!!
  6. Thanks! I'll ask over there. We did find a day use hotel that wasn't bad for price considering.
  7. A coworker left his iPad in the room with his teens while they went for dinner on a cruise ship. They turned it on, watched a movie and played some games. The bill was a couple thousand. I dont known if you can get a data plan with telus for cruise ships as it's not through cell towers. You'd have to go through a satellite company I assume so just easy to get ship wifi. We've used telus roaming lots of times and it's great as you get the 24 hour coverage and just the one charge of 11$ In the usa as you get full access to.your plan. I've never made calls though through my roaming plan as I'm not sure how the long distance charges work. I suggest if you do wish to make a call or text use a wifi service like whatsapp. If you are hooked up to data you can still make calls on those apps. Make sure you turn the data slider off while roaming in your settings or else your phone won't access data when roaming. On a recent trip it was on as we used it get ubers. Since data was off it didn't access the internet and so didn't work and i didnt k ow why. I had texted a family member so got charged for the day bit didn't get to use it for what I really wanted which was data. Didn't realize that until after we got back to the hotel and did a face palm.
  8. Hello Friends, We have a return flight leaving Sydney, Australia to Edmonton with a 10hr layover in LAX. We will have our two kids (10 and 8) in tow and trying to figure out what to do. I've tried doing some research to figure out the process. From what I can find we will land in Terminal B, collect bags and clear customs, then recheck bags inside terminal B ; exit the airport; go to terminal 2 where we will clear security again. We are thinking if we have to reclear security again we might as well leave for a couple hours to kill time if we don't have our bags with us. We thought about getting a hotel room for the day but we land at 6am and checkins usually aren't until the afternoon. Spending that much time in the airport with two kids sounds disastrous! 9. Oh for sure. I'm definitely not doubting the need for travel insurance. I have separate policies through mine and my wife's work, plus 2 that come with credit cards. I regularly review them to ensure I understand the coverage. Just saying I don't understand the "you must have this type of insurance to enter "unless they plan to have someone reading and verifying policies.
  10. Thats good, all we have is a travel card with important numbers/policy numbers. It always just makes me wonder why there are these strict policies they don't really have a way of enforcing. And thank you MMDownunder for your reply as well. We have no port stops in Fiji but I imagine other islands will be look to apply similar restrictions as they re-open as well. Our final payment for our transpacific is due in about 3 weeks.
  11. I wonder how they determine this? My travel insurance through my employer covers Covid 19. It doesn't say in the policy that it does, it just does. It is not listed as an exclusion. Just like it doesn't say i'm specifically covered for Norovirus, tetanus, or a staph infection. We got an email last summer from the company saying that their travel policies cover Covid.
