We usually have lunch before boarding   so we hit Barristas  for coffee  while waiting  for out cabin if not ready when  we board

If cabin is ready we drop our bag put stuff in the safe  then head  up for coffee

Waves & The Terrace are usually the only venus open for lunch on boarding day

If you have not  been on O before  you may want to explore the ship

    make spa appts

upgrade the beverage package if you drink

    enjoy

First time sailing on O and we will be in a suite.  Can we drop off our carry on luggage before heading to lunch?

I have two friends I work with at Pacific Whale that are still missing. I fear for them also but are hopeful they are just can't get out communication yet. They were both very young.

I've never put a photo of myself up on CC, but this is me last April at Waikiki Brewery on Front Street in Lahaina.

We were planning to go to the Brewery last week.  Hopefully, you will hear from your friends soon.  We had limited cell service while we were on the west side of Maui.

  3. We just got home after spending a week on the west side of Maui.  On Tuesday there were very strong winds and the electricity went out early in the morning. The power to our condo was eventually restored late Saturday evening.  We had limited cell service.

On the way to the airport we got a glimpse of Lahaina and saw the devastation.

I have used all points more than once.

Yes you get to pick but it might not be your 1st choice .   Depends on the ship.

On the Sun, I ended up with a BD.  On the Jewel a BA. Available cabins also matters . I ask what's the highest available.

No afts!!  Keep in mind your fare is considered complimentary so if you want to upgrade, it won't work.  Now bidding was not around back then so I do not know if you can.

Hi Steve, I looked into this last year for a balcony cabin.  I was told that I couldn't add on any free at sea promotions and ended up cashing in a lot of my points.  I still have more than enough for another balcony cabin.

Received my book with tags, for cruise later this year.

A very beautiful, large format, glossy, full color, and customized product, for my cruise. Outer cover not tartan, color photo, but difficult to know what it is.

Came from Clifton NJ.  Most likely from the printing house.

Lots of useful info., Including tkt contract.

I just received my Cruise Vacation Guide.  It was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting anything.  Very helpful for a newbie on O.

  7. @Sthrngary   No need to apologize to me. I shouldn’t have posted the dollar amount as I didn’t know you wanted to keep it private. You shouldn’t really care what others think, as you paid for the upgrade and did score a great deal. Be happy about that.

Every time we post on CC, we open ourselves up to be attacked one way or another.

We have sailed many times on NCL in the Haven and really enjoy the experience. This will be our first time in a suite on Oceania and looking forward to comparing the two brands.

I just received my official cruise vacation planner which was a nice surprise.

I know what to expect from NCL’s butlers, but I haven’t found out much about the O’s butlers. Do you have any information on the butlers? Any other helpful information on suites would be appreciated.

What BSR is saying is TRUE.  I purposefully did NOT disclose any numbers here for this very reason.  I was given a professional courtesy.  I was very thankful to Oceania. I knew if I disclosed my total investment here, on this blog,  it would cause a stir.  I was obviously right.  I used this situation to high light how to handle issue with brands and to show how brands will do the right thing if you approach it right.   Also, to address that the "Upgrade Fairy" exists.  The information provide is accurate and quite frankly I was THRILLED.

The actual link is on the blog, "First Time Cruisers".  The entry # is 28.  It is on the first page with my screen name as the Author.  I explain what happened and the result.

I could have just not responded to this inquiry, but if BSR makes a statement that is factual, and it seems like others are challenging that statement.  Even if I did not want to disclose that here, I will not allow any member to come across as not being honest.

I hope that is the end of this inquiry.

Cruise well and enjoy every moment.

Sorry I didn’t think by listing the dollar amount would cause a stir since you posted it in other threads. I think it’s great that you got such a good deal.

@BSR I did write a very nice letter to top executives.  Not sure if you know the story but I was misquoted an paid upgrade.  It was a MISTAKE by Oceania while I was on the phone listening with my Travel Agent.  When I heard the amount to upgrade, I knew it was To Good To Be True.  So when I got my credit card which all of 60 seconds, the offer they gave me was off the table.

Mistakes happen.  I sent a letter making sure that I fully understood mistakes happen.  All I asked in my letter was, if and when "Paid Upgrades" were to happen on my cruise, would they consider offering one to me.  That is all I asked for.  I got a call, an upgrade was provided which was "A LOT" more then the original amount.  Still, it was a value to me. I was impressed with Oceania's willingness to communicate with me and acknowledge that an mistake had been made.

Did I gain a fair deal and now have a "Once In A Life Time Cruising Experience." Yes.  I did not expect it, I did not demand it. I was also impressed with the shear speed my situation was handled and resolved.  Win/Win situation.

Cruise well and enjoy every moment.

Good to hear that Oceania acknowledged their mistake and you were given the Vista Suite for an incredible deal. Enjoy your cruise!

Everyone doesn't get treated the same.  Some get $10K cruises for free 8 months in advance, and some pay top dollar.  That's much more of a big deal then the loss of $100 in my mind.

Thanks.  Not a big deal on the OBC.  Like I said I just was wondering why everyone doesn't receive the same amount.

Compensation will have a lot to do with original price paid vs current pricing, along with other weighted factors.  That’s why it goes to a pricing specialist.  Don’t get stuck on he-got-that-so-I-should-too.  It doesn’t work that way.

The cabin category is now higher then what I paid for.  Not sure what are the other factors.  Far as I know it didn't go to a pricing specialist.  I was just wondering why everyone doesn't receive the same OBC.
