  1. Here is a 5% savings code for anyone who purchases Slot Play coupons for your cruise. I figure it helps considering NCL has taken done the specials they had on the website. Code 5FRMEM14

Thanks for the code, just purchased mine for the Jewel.:)

  2. I am glad they moved it. Moderno is occupying the old overflow area for Cagney's. We ate in that location in 2009 and it is more intimate than Cagneys. We didn't mind Cagneys but enjoyed the overflow area more. It is just across the hall from Cagneys so not moving a long distance. I am not sure if that is being done fleet wide. I would imagine at least for the jewel class ships once they each complete their dry dock.

We also ate here back in 2009. I thought the tables were too close together, but it was ok. It overlooks the pool area.

  3. We have done the $29 bag of laundry before and it worked fine. I thought some stuff came back on hangars before. Now as Platinum members, we get free bags. But, on our last cruise, nothing came back on hangars.

Is this an extra service or part of the bag special?

Did we get lucky the first time, or unlucky the last time?

As platinum members, I take advantage and use the laundry twice during our cruises. My clothes come back on hangers and smaller items are folded and put in a wicker basket. It may be this way as we sail in suites.:)

  4. Here's the official information: http://www.ncl.com/downloads/iconcierge

And the "How To" guide: http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/iCONCIERGE_05132014.pdf

It's available only on the newer ships at the moment. I don't have experience in using the "messaging" features but found it spotty at best when it came to view the dailies / activities and reservation availability on Breakaway. I'm considering giving it another go.

If you do a search here, you'll find several threads where folks share their (mixed) experiences. Cost is per device (not per cabin), unfortunately.

It was available on the Pearl last week, but lacked all the features we had on the Breakaway. I think they are working on it so it can be like the newer ships.

  5. My wife and I both just made platinum on our last cruise. I have questions on the perks.

NCL's web site says when you make platinum you get a free dinner for 2 plus wine in Le Bistro. My question is, do we each get a free dinner for 2, meaning we both get to eat there 2 nights or will they give us just one night?

Also, you get a free bottle of sparkling wine. Will we each get a bottle or just one per cabin?

Congrats on making platinum. We been for years now and enjoy all the extra perks.:) Yes, 2 free LeBistro dinners with wine. If you're in a suite you will get an extra bottle of wine.;)

  6. I'm sailing on the Spirit 12-day Mediterranean cruise starting in just a few days. I notice that the spa raffle is likely to be at the same time as our Meet and Greet. I'm assuming that you have to be present to win the spa raffle. Does anyone know if my husband goes and wins, can I use the prize? Or can it only be used by the person who won it?

I won a $50 spa raffle aboard the Pearl last week. I ended up giving away to one of the Australian ladies I met on board. She had no problem using it and there is no name or cabin number on it. You do need to be present in order to win. They only call out cabin numbers.

  7. My sister and I were also on this cruise (Hi Becky!) and I agree with the good and the not so good. The bad however was way worse for us. After returning to the ship in Victoria, I went to the buffet to eat. Within an hr to an hr and a half I was violently ill. After lying in bed for a few hours after exhibiting all the signs of food poisoning I finally called the infirmary. The guy named Robbie was great and had me come right down. There was a crew member down there with the same thing going on, Robbie said we had A.G.E. with another person there with a rash. They gave me some pills and an injection for the nausea. I was in the surgery room and immediately started vomiting violently again. I made it back up to our cabin, which for the rest of the cruise we were confined to....so much for the rest of my spa pass. The infirmary called once that night to see how I was which I appreciated. I vomited for a straight 10 hours, most of the time just managing to lie on the cool bathroom floor. The next morning the infirmary called again to see how I was and to let us know that customer service would be calling us about removing us from the ship, away from the other pax but it would be about 2 hours. Our plans were to get a taxi to the skytrain and take it to Surrey, where my husband would pick us up and take us home.

Now here is where I get a little upset with NCL. I have been in business for many years. If I had a situation like this one with a client as sick as I was, I would handled it so entirely different. My customer service would have picked us up, taken us off the ship and then taken us directly to a taxi, if not straight to the skytrain or even Surrey. NCL's customer service never even bothered to call the cabin. After 2 hours I called them to see when we could get off the ship and how they wanted us to do it so we wouldn't infect any one one the way. The lady just said we could get off right now, by ourselves and just depart from deck 7. Not even a "have a nice day". I felt so freaking miserable and so nauseated but we dragged our bags off the ship and then had to stand in line for almost 2 hours for a freaking taxi. I was doing everything I could not to be sick again because I was afraid Canada wouldn't let me in. We finally made out way to the skytrain, then to Surrey...probably infecting people all the way. That was on Thursday. Less than 24 hours later, my husband became ill. He's been sicker than a dog since yesterday. Apparently, after speaking to my DRs office, we will be contagious for a while. Tomorrow is Mother's day, my sons are having a Mother's Day BBQ for me, we can't go :(.

You know what else bugs me? NCL hasn't even called to see how I am. That's pretty shabby customer service in my opinion.

PS I'd love to know how many others were ill on the ship. I know we weren't the only ones.

    Carol,

So sorry to hear that you got sick. I was hoping to run into you and your sister on the last night to say goodbye. I been sick many times on a cruise, but just with a cold, sore throat, runny nose, etc. Nothing like you experienced. Hope you feel better soon.

  8. I would really like to book an aft balcony on the Breakaway - NY to Bermuda in early June. Just not sure of the motion while sailing the wide open Atlantic. We've only sailed from Florida and San Juan which is much smoother. Any thoughts?

I had an aft balcony cabin on the Breakaway, deck 12, and loved it! Didn't feel any motion.

  9. I noticed NCL has some cruises scheduled to Cozumel, Belize, and Trujillo or Banana Coast Honduras...Might be an interesting stop. There is quite a bit of info on this link. When you open the link , change the ship schedule to Oct 2014.

We are scheduled to stop here on our Oct cruise on the Jewel. Looks like it could be interesting and somewhere new for us to go to.

  10. We were on the Breakaway last year for Halloween and the atrium and other places around the ship were decorated. There was a costume party in the theater and I was surprised that so many people were in costumes. Also they had a haunted house that you could go thru. It was fun.
