  1. We always tip the Cabin Steward and the waiter and assistant waiter. All the crew do such a great job and when you think if you visit a restaurant at home you would tip 10% for the meal , taking into account the number of meals you would have on a cruise tipping each person £20, £30 or £40 for the whole cruise is a good deal.
  2. As an elderly couple 70s/80s we would be very upset if you can't pre-book the MDR . We always eat early and it's great to know we are booked in. Computers came into common use definitely in the 80s not sure if it was before as we lived abroad. So unless you are in your late 80s or 90s or older most people would be computer literate now. We are on Arcadia soon and hope we can pre-book but I have the awful feeling we might not be able to.
  3. Simon Calder is good on advice about most holidays but on the occasions I've seen him talk about cruising he normally gets a lot wrong . Haha actually being as cruising is the only holidays we have done recently for all I know he might give out wrong advice about other holidays as well.
  4. If anyone watches any of the Farming programs you will notice the kids rolling in the mud, the hay and all sorts. The Yorkshire Shepardess used to have the donkey in the living room . The kids gave the animals food and then ate the same food the animal had just taken a bite off. All the kids were healthy and thriving
  5. Not sure what country you are from if you don't know what a dressing gown is. Who would have thought a topic like wearing bath robes to the hot tub, which everyone else on here seems to think it's perfectly acceptable, as do I , except you of course, would make someone write a derogatory remarks like your last one . Not really acceptable. As far as I remember the Windjammer buffets are on Royal Caribbean not P & O . As has already been covered elsewhere on here bathrobes are worn on the decks on Royal Caribbean frequently. Of courses bath robe will keep you warm otherwise why do the Scandanavians get out of their saunas put their bath robes on and go outside and jump in the cold water. Putting bath robes back on to keep themselves warm when they get out. Also the wild water swimmers often wear bath robes before and after a swim. So a strange remark to say they don't keep you warm
  6. Surely if you are going through together as a couple only one of you need to show your boarding pass with the time on it. I have only ever shown mine and we both have walked through. We are both the same tier so they both would be the same but they could have been different. What if someone had kids with them and the parents or Grandparents were Caribbean and the kids weren't, no way would they expect you to leave the kids behibd
  7. I expect they have manual flush toilets and the push behind the seat to make sure people put the seat down before flushing. As it's a suction flush you must have the seat down as, especially if kids are doing it, something you don't want to could get sucked down. Btw we preferred the sky dome on Iona .
  8. Haha hit the nail on the head. Aren't we supposed to reducing our carbon footprint
  9. So there's a high chance the wingers who claim they want their towels changed twice a day are probably in the 44% who don't wash theirs very often at home. Same goes for those that want their sheets changed every day on cruises.
  10. We have done 3 British Isles cruises with Princess in the last 2 years , the last one being 11 ports in 14 days. I think the equivalent P &O ones only had 6 ports in 14 days, and there lies the difference. There were at least 50% Brits on each cruise we did. I wish they would start up the Strictly Come Dancing cruises again, they were fab-u-lous. 💃🕺😀🚢
  11. Can you access the theatre from all 3 levels showing on the deck plan it isn’t clear? Also is there a balcony level and a lower level.
  12. Shame this doesn’t apply to military from the UK or Australia/New Zealand. I thought we were all on the same side .
  13. The people on board are saying the captain said they were missing Marseille on Sunday because of the riots, it being pretty bad in Marseilles. They went to Cartagena on Saturday instead. I would say a better deal
  14. When we were on Arvia it was the current Headliners last cruise and a new group were boarding as we got off. We went to the ‘Meet the Headliners’ interviews they do during one day in the theatre and they said the next group would only do two different shows the first cruise and gradually add new shows over the next few cruises. ( That happened to us on Ventura before Covid once where they had just boarded and we only got two shows) Hopefully for the Christmas cruise on Arcadia they will be up and running with a full programme, as I love watching the Headliners.
  15. Wasn’t there liquid hand soap in a dispensable container by the sink. if not it probably go back to those posts on that well know social media page where people were saying they took the whole big bottle of hand lotion they were given home with them and a few even said they took the liquid soap dispenser off the wall and home with them because they said ‘they are going to throw them away after we use them anyway’
  16. As per my previous post #4, This was in April this happened on Arvia . I know this as we were in the holding pen waiting for our time spot. We were all chatting to each other and loads of our fellow queuers were many of the Eavesway coach passengers. We saw people getting off the Intercruise coaches going through carrying lettered cards, the Eavesway people couldn’t understand why they hadn’t been waved through as well.
  17. Interestingly when we were waiting to board Iona the Intercruise passengers were put straight through off the coach ( they were all given numbered cards) but the passengers on Eavesway were put in the holding pen with everyone else to wait for their boarding time. I don’t know if that happens all the time now.
  18. Interesting we were on the 16th April sailing and probably 75% were dressed for formal night..
  19. My Husband is ex military and we have thought about going to Warwick Castle when they have the free days but it implies you might not get it as only so many Military places.
  20. Also on Princess to get the benefit the passenger has to be military or ex military and you have to show proof. On P & O they use the Defence Discount Card which as I understand it also includes civilians that work for the MOD , imo they should use the same criteria as Princess . interestingly it seems on Princess in the USA , if both passengers in a cabin are military they can both get the OBC on P & O you can’t I don’t think.
  21. I have read people on other lines saying the same port has been changed so perhaps it’s to do with the port and not P & O.
  22. Soneone has just posted elsewhere saying they contacted P & O and asked about this and the reply was that it was a mistake and it should have read 17 and under. Panic over
  23. The rules seem to have changed recently but no one knows when. I expect most people don’t know about the rule change including the crew.
