Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks! It’s not until next Saturday, so plenty of time for things to change! 🤞
  2. I wish 😞 We are flying back to a smaller airport and on the only nonstop of the day. Anything earlier (with connection) would get us home later and be $$$.
  3. Right now, the forecast for our return trip shows Florida rain the whole day. Ship arrives back to Miami 8am, but our flight out of Fort Lauderdale isn't until 8pm. I was planning on booking a resort pass, but this isn't going to work if its raining. Suggestions for something to do for a family of 4 (with 2 teenagers and luggage) to kill some time? I have booked an airport lounge pass, but really dont want to spend all day there. Thanks in advance!
  4. Top deck of Posh as others have said. Also there is a roped off spot in the main pool deck near the bar that has shade.
  5. On my last cruise we ordered an expensive drink in the Haven that wasn’t included in the beverage package. Left a generous tip on the slip. The bartender crossed it out and told us that money doesn’t go to him and not to waste it. We tip in cash now.
  6. Survive? He would probably be in Heaven. Until the last day when he has to scramble to clean the house before I get back! 🤣
  7. Hi Everyone, I've decided to take my two boys (11 & 13) on a solo cruise this August, my husband wont be able to go. My main objective it really to just get them out of the house and away from their electronics (and to give me a much needed break from work). Will need leave out of NYC or Boston to avoid flying. We have only done 2BR Haven in the past, but this time will be going for a Balcony with just the 3 of us. Haven is sold out on all the sailings anyway...Here are the options I am looking at: 1. 10 Day NYC -> Bahamas & Bermuda on the Joy. This is the cheapest of all the options surprisingly. I've never been to Bahamas and would love the long break. But, we have done the Joy before and will be on the Joy again in November. Will I be sick of the Joy by November? 🤣 2. 5 Day NYC -> Bermuda on the Escape. Never been on the Escape and the ship looks awesome. I also assume that when its just a stay in Bermuda that it will be easier to get on and off the ship without long lines? Not being in Haven, I'm just not sure about the ease here. 3. 7 Day NYC -> Canada New England. The most expensive of the 3 (but still within budget). We live in New England, so would probably spend the most time on the ship here. I'm not super concerned about ports or pricing. I want the boys to have a blast. Would love any opinions here - especially on difference between splash/entourage between the two ships? I think I've ruled out the Pearl/Boston options. I don't think the Pearl has enough to keep them entertained (but please chime in if you think otherwise!) Thanks in advance!
  8. I asked my PCC if I could recommend him to my friends. He said “Yes! That is my bread and butter!” Which leads me to believe there is a commission involved. Sadly, he left to start his own business 😭
  9. Yay! You are going to love it!! Edited to add the question….will you also add the spa pass now? Inquiring minds want to know 🤣
  10. Ooof! Agree, that is a steal! At that price you can upgrade to 2BR and get the spa pass. Another thing to think about is the Epic Haven has a sauna and hot tub right in the courtyard… Or one other idea would be to upgrade and then book yourself a massage or two. Use the spa facilities on those days. (I assume you can use the spa if you get a massage? But would need someone else to verify this)
  11. We were on the Epic in December booked in a 2 bedroom, and then bought the spa pass on top of that. At $350, I would book the 2BR all day long just for the huge bathroom....But, you should also know the spa is quite the hike from Haven Courtyard. We found that because of the distance (and other factors) we didn't use it much. Similarly, if we had of chosen the spa room, I don't think we would have gotten full use of the Haven services like priority on/off ship at ports or escorts to shows. There is no way I would go upstairs to the opposite end of the ship to use this service to go back downstairs. Just something to think about!
  12. We were on the Epic in December. I think I am in the minority here where I didn't like the thermal spa at all. The first day the entire place smelled like bacon, lol. The staff said that was unusual, and it didn't happen any other day, but it set the scene wrong. Also location is important. Our room was in the front of the ship and it was a huge hike down narrow hallways to get to the back of the ship where the spa was. We only ended up using it twice in our seven days. Maybe if we were closer we would have used it more? I am a HUGE spa person, but the amenities there just didn't feel like the luxury spa I was expecting. For example, no slippers unless you are getting a treatment. Which sounds like a silly thing to complain about, but I just expected the full service. In reference to access, we had to check in at the spa desk and they took our room card (put it in a binder) and swapped that our for a spa access card. Then when you left, you had to swap back. There were often long lines at the desk helping people book treatments, etc. But if you just go to the side of the desk they will swap it fast for you while helping everyone else.
