  1. As part of your online checkin, you will choose a boarding time. 2:00-2:30 PM was the earliest checkin I was offered for Piraeus, July 20 departure. Others have reported mayhem from people arriving outside their scheduled time, delaying everyone, and others have suggested arriving before the scheduled time (1pm) got them through fastest. There is also an issue of how involved Azamara crew are in the checkin process. Elsewhere, people have said the ship crew have to be invited ashore by the port authorities.
  2. I received an automated confirmation that they received my email within minutes, and a reply almost a month later, a few days after the "30-day before sail date" cut off date for submitting requests. When is your sail date?
  3. Azamara Guest Special Needs Form has checkboxes for Medical Related Dietary Requests Regular Soy Milk Regular Lactose-free Milk Vanilla Ensure® Qty ___ cans (8-fl oz) You can also send an email to special_needs@azamara.com
  4. When in Greece earlier this year, I was expecting to use my HSBC (Canada) card to withdraw funds from Euro dollar account at HSBC ATMs, but it only allows you to withdraw funds from your primary (CAD) account, charging the usual 2.5% over the (presumed) midmarket rate. Global Alliance is good for avoiding ATM fees if you can find a partner ATM, especially in your destination airport. I'll try out the Wise card next month. I was able to fund the card with Euros otherwise stranded in my HSBC Euro account. (I've used Wise for funds transfers between US and Canada, and am generally happy with them. However, if you need support while they're available by email, there is no voice or chat support.)
  5. Why are able-bodied guests in accessible staterooms? We hold accessible staterooms for guests with disabilities until all non-accessible staterooms in a category are reserved. At that time, accessible staterooms are released to general inventory and may be reserved by a guest without a disability. -- FAQs | Azamara

    OBC?

  8. For those arriving Athens airport the day before your cruise, 20 minute antigen testing is available (€20) in the Arrivals hall between exits 2 and 3 Athens Intl Airport Covid FAQ
  9. At the beginning of May I arrived in ATH and was mystified to see people getting Covid tests at the airport on arrival. I didn't need them, and didn't know anyone did. But they are available (€60 PCR results emailed within 24 hours, €20 antigen results emailed in 20 minutes ) For those arriving on flights the (calendar) day before a cruise it may be easier to get the test done in Greece. They certainly will meet the requirements for testing, and you don't need to find a pharmacy.... ------- Is there a facility for diagnostic tests for SARS-COV-2 (Covid-19) at the airport premises? Can I take a diagnostic test at the airport premises? kindly be advised of the availability to perform diagnostic test for SARS-COV-2 (Covid-19) at Athens airport, using both methods, Molecular & Rapid Antigen test, at the specially configured testing point of Athens Medical Center, located on the “Arrivals” level, between exits 2 and 3. However, the testing point at the airport should be used as a last resort due to unpredictability of traffic flows and possible increased waiting times. The testing point operates on a 24-hour basis. You may proceed for testing without an appointment. Due to increased attendance, longer waiting times might be expected thus, passengers are kindly requested to timely attend the testing point at the airport for their molecular (PCR) or Rapid-antigen test. As far as Rapid tests are concerned, it is highly recommended to plan for at least 3 hours available time prior to your departure. Payment options available at the testing point include the use of POS machine accepting debit / credit card or cash. Registration & payment procedure for the Molecular(PCR) test can be also accomplished electronically through the platform https://payments.iatriko.gr/. Details and important information are included in the section “Frequently Asked Questions” of the platform. Test results for molecular (PCR) test will be delivered to you, by email, within approximately 24 hours. Response time varies according to sampling time or volume of tests. Test results for rapid (Antigen) test are available by email ,15-20 minutes after completion of sampling. For any further information, please contact Athens Medical Center representatives at airport@iatriko.gr. -- Athens International Airport -- COVID-19 USEFUL INFORMATION
  10. I suspect you should be complaining to your local government about about "over-regulation" (or the other side of that coin, praising local consumer protection laws). For instance, "California requires all sellers of travel to register with the Attorney General's Office and to display the registration number on all advertising." Whose laws do you think should govern the sale? Your local laws? California? Montana? Malta? China?
  11. Interesting, the mid-market rate ("not available to consumers") was about one-half percent difference that day -- credit cards charge 3% and cash rates are 5-6%, so this rate is quite good. I think this is normal operating procedure in global companies: local subsidiaries handle transactions in local currency under local laws, and monetary exchanges between the two are done with their preferred currency, in this case USD. In this case, the parent issues an OBC credit in USD. If you choose to spend it online, the full credit gets converted and put on the subsidiary's account, your purchases are deducted, then any balance is transferred back to the parent for use on the cruise. In short, nothing to see here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  12. I took this to mean that, specific to the Piraeus port requirement, Azamara understood they had muddled the published requirement and their customer had already paid for a test which did not satisfy the Piraeus port, so they comp'd the pier side test. I wouldn't assume that without a 72 hour PCR test result in hand, they will comp the pier side test -- there are several reports of a USD59 charge being paid by OBC. It appears that €7-10 same day tests are widely available at Athen's pharmacies, and my plan is to get one done near my hotel the day before. (I'm on the Onward July 20th.)
