I had an XL sea terrace that I downgraded from because I discovered it was partially metal. I don’t sail for another couple of weeks but I definitely feel better about my room now that I’ve switched - even if it has slightly less space.

I ended up downgrading our category to the sea terrace. No issues other than then trying to charge me $450 but that was resolved after speaking to someone else. Note to just get my sailor loot fixed!

Thanks for the info! We will probably ask to move to the sea terrace cabin. To me using the balcony consists of looking out onto the water, port, etc so if I can’t see while sitting then I essentially can’t use the balcony. I definitely didn’t realize it was important to me until I saw what it looked like. That’s probably also because I didn’t know it was a thing but I’m glad to have the chance to sort it out before boarding!

My husband called and was told they generally don’t allow people to sail without their passport but they may make an exception if it was lost/stolen and you can’t get a replacement in time. Definitely better to make sure you have your passport because it sounded like it could change person to person.

Currently booked on the Scarlet Lady in accessible XL Sea Terrace room 13330A. Just found out that it’s a balcony with metal panels instead of glass. I can’t stand for long periods of time but would like to be able to use my balcony so it seems the only option is to ‘downgrade’ our room. If you’ve been in both an XL sea terrace and the regular sea terrace was there a discernable difference in size?

Thanks for reviewing! This has been really helpful for me, I’m going on the scarlet lady on December 18th. What kinks did you run into when you were booking reservations? That’s what I’m most nervous about.

Thank you for posting this and dealing with the flak you’re getting for voicing your opinion. I’m an over-researcher when it comes to any vacation (but cruises especially) and I’m glad that’s the case because my group would’ve been caught off guard by all of the surprises. I’m not even on the boat yet and I feel like this has been a lot of work. I’ve joined multiple Facebook groups and obviously I’m on this site; I had not seen that they only do service once a day so I completely understand how you did your research and didn’t know about it. I just hope I’ve got all of the surprises covered now. I’m excited for the cruise because I know it’ll be fun but we’re trying out all of the cruise lines to find our favorite and we’re thinking VV might not be for us. At least until we can regularly afford rockstar status since it seems like they have a different experience entirely.
