The trick to walking Uptown Saint John and getting up the hill. Walk along Water st to Market Square (some restaurants and shops are in here). Take the escalator up and you will find a path going to Brunswick Square (NB Museum shop is in here), there is a cat walk between buildings. Once in Brunswick square you can take an elevator or escalator up and find the walkway to the City Market. Once you come out of the City market, you are at the top of the hill and at Kings Square which is a nice big park. The Jewish History museum is a couple of blocks away from here.

Saint John has the container village right at the Marco Polo terminal. Lots of little seasonal shops and food here with a lot of "local" made or atlantic Canada made items. Uptown Saint John is very cool, lots of architecture to see, shops and great pubs. For those that want to do their own sighseeing there is an Avis car rental just down the street from where the ships dock.

Saint John does offer a variety of things that should appeal to a wide audience. History, architecture, tourist shopping, local shopping, lots of restaurants with plenty of local craft brews to choose from. When ships are in there are a few different tours available from big bus tours to trolly tours. Depending on a ships stay, there are also day trips from the port to places like Saint Andrews or Hopewell rocks (walk on the ocean floor when the tide is out) And for those that don't want to venture far from the ship, or are looking to pick up a quick souviner before reboarding, there is the unique container village right at the port.
