  1. I'm curious as to where it states anything about the AC being affected by the door being propped/bungee'd open. I wonder if this is one of those old tales (true or not?) that has been told on cruise critic for years, so everyone repeats it, but in fact isn't true. I recently had my first balcony room. We did prop the door open and it was marvelous. Our AC worked perfectly (in fact it was the coolest room we've ever had...way cooler than the inside rooms). Our neighbors also propped theirs. I cannot imagine Carnival not having a sign on the door saying "do not prop open due to AC" or something if it was true. They have signs for everything on the ship, so they would do that, IMHO.

don't know what happened to the sign on your door but I have been in approx. 10 balcony cabins and they all had signs about leaving door open. Last time if the door was opened the AC automatically shut off.

  2. Yes - as long as there can be made from the items they stock. For instance there is no soda - of any kind - as a mixer.

They have made me a "to die for" Lemon Drop, that is not technically on the menu. DH also had them perfect a jalapeno "thing" throughout the week when were were on the Pride last year.

Really because the last time on Pride (last June) I was told very rudely they only made the menu items. Guess it depends who is bartending when you are there.

  3. I don't know about the OP, but I have seen videos by legitimate cruise ship recruiters who state that wages are based on the employee's country of origin. Workers have also confirmed this.

The employees we have spoken to seem very happy with their situations with the exception of one cruise out of Long Beach......most were miserable and service was poor. Onebwaiter in a bar arwa was very good and we ask him about situatin on ship. He saidnit was bar manager....not good person to work for! His reson for not leaving & going to different ship, he was from MX so if he had a d ay off while in port he could see his family. Felt bad for his working situaton but he made his choice based on family.

  4. The Ecstasy is going in for dry dock from 1/10/17 - 1/24/17. Details are unknown yet, but she already has RedFrog Rum Bar and the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar. I would assume she would be getting Guys & Blue Iguana Cantina was well as Alchemy Bar and Cherry on Top since the last 2 Fantasy class ships to go into dry dock got all of these enhancements.

happy already has Red Frog....husband likes Guys but I can skip.

  5. oh boy I'm confused..ok so son and I have Samsung phones I do have the app on my phone...but can my kids take their ipods and use those? That would be awesome! Would they still be able to do FB on the ipods? Sorry for the questions..I'm totally not tech savvy...;)

FB will require internet. They will be able to chat with each other but depending on age may not be able to chat with anyone not in their cabin unless parents set up groups. We did this last summer so we could keep track of my granddaughter.

  6. I've always taken the early dining choice (we're not ever late eaters) but was only able to get the late dining on our upcoming cruise on the Pride. We were also offered Any Time Dining, but not being familiar with that option, I declined. How well does ATD work out for early eaters? How easily can I change my dining choice to ATD? Thanks!

we always do any time....it really depends on how many in your party - if there are a lot you could wait a while, also if you go at typical 7:00 time you could have to wait - we just get a buzzer and go to bar outside of dining room & have a drink

  7. just wanted to add that we had to create a group so my husband & I could see messages from my granddaughter. They have some different rules for minors but it was worth figuring out since she became ill one night and needed someone to come hlp her.

  8. Yes, I think you may be right (about "not our cup of tea") but I really wanted us to love it because it's so easy out of the MidAtlantic. I would consider trying a different ship/ports (might not convince DH to join me;)

I see you have been on Ecstasy and several others --have you found other cruises to be significantly more elegant/classier than Ecstasy?

you might want to try a different line....they cost more but are more elegant. Look at Celebrity

  9. I have not seen dogs in California or in Florida at ports.

    Where have you seen them???

You can never tell what questions you will be asked.

Miami had drug dogs a few years ago not this year and don't remember port but one had a cut little beagle that caught 3 people smuggling in bananas for kids snack on way home.

  10. We are cruising September 3rd on the Ecstacy. This will be or first time cruising with an assigned check in time. What is the earliest check in time that is offered out of Charleston?

We selected 11:30-12pm when we booked, but i was just wondering if there is the earliest time for regular people?

We never felt the need to book FTTF in the past, because we normally arrived at port around 10:30-11, and were usually checked in and on board within 30 minutes from when boarding started. FTTF is currently sold out, so I'm hoping that we are still able to board rather quickly with at "check in" time.

we have FTTF and were given 11;00. i am a little concerned because we are traveling with friends who could not get FTTF. hope we can all get on around same time. did I mention we were driving to port.

  11. I, too, was under the impression that this was fleet wide but when I downloaded the app, I realized that it's just a few ships. Fortunately, it is available on the Breeze which is what we will be on in September.

I do, however, have another question with regard to the Hub app? How much is it to use the app once on board the ship?

we used it on Pride - had kids who had ipods and were able to keep in touch, however...only people in same cabin can chat with a minor. this is a good thing but we wanted them to connect also with grandparents so were able to create a group. this worked fine except on little blip when seas were rough and kids were seasick....took a little time to coordinate who was going to rescure which kid.

  12. Thanks! I did get the email about the boarding times. All scheduled for the early, luckily. Looks like we're the first cruise where they're planning to enforce it.

we sailed 3 weeks ago & were given a time & told not to arrive before time but no one even checked. I have heard they plan on enforcing but it would be hard

  13. I have been on 29 cruises, with the last three on the Carnival Pride. My last one returned to Baltimore on the 29th of May. On this cruise, there seemed to be cutbacks on the amount of bartenders in all locations... and very few if any waiters to serve the lounges and on the entire Lido deck. Gratuities are the same per beverage, but you had to go up to a bar (particularly on the Lido deck underway) and wait there to be served. The gratuities amounts where the same as before when the waiters where available. My question to you all is three fold:

    1. Was that just a one time shot on the Pride cruise I was on..?

    2. Is this still happening on the Pride's cruises since then..?

    3. Or, are this cutbacks happening throughout the Carnival Line..?

I just enjoy a little service.....

just off Pride and had same experience. Also, don't like that waiters now take drink orders in dining room. Makes service very slow. We started gabing a drink ***** way into dining room.
