  1. How embarrassing for him/her. :o How long after the cruise was he/she still an employee? ;)

    Gwen :)

It may have not been a big deal. Could have been from a injury or a major illness that caused them to not work but still live life.

Back on track I haven't ever run into anyone that I know personally but have many time talked with people from the same town. One person lived a street over from me. Even that makes you realize how small the world is at times.

  2. Well you were very fortunate as our last few cruises the shower cap was missing from the Vitality box, yes they should be there but as I have said not this last year.

Did ask and was given one for a 14 day cruise , needed more as they soon split.

I didn't see were you said that but my cruise was last month on Adventure and not sure what ship you were on. My point was that it should be in the box so if its not then you can get one seeing as all three suites I had the box was there. I'm not sure if every box had one but you could get one if needed. My guess is people use something out of the box and just put it back in the spot. The room steward doesn't even think about checking it after every cruise so you end up with missing items.

  3. I just got off Adventure and they had them. Although most would never see it as it was inside of a little box called "vitality kit" I think. It included a couple of q-tips, shower cap, cotton ball, and something else. All ships have that kit in the suites I'm sure. I doubt they make them special for only one ship so if you don't see the little rectangular white box just ask and I'm sure you will get one if its missing.

  4. At this point RCL is not listening to these boards, to comment cards, or even to feedback at marketing presentations. I think that arrogance will hit them hard. And if the service levels and food quality continue to decline, they will also lose other cruisers. Why pay more if there no difference with less expensive lines.

Can you blame them for not listening to these boards? Most of what is on these boards is people arguing about how entitled they are. Its to bad because some of stuff is great but in one post someone seems reasonable and two posts down they are off their rocker.

  5. I have gotten these calls but never make it to the point of finding out what line its on. Not sure who actually falls for this I just hang up. If I haven't entered a drawing of some kind how did I win? Their "free" most likely still requires all kinds of taxes/fees along with airfare. But I guess they wouldn't keep doing it if people didn't pay to "win" their "free" cruise. It would stop if people would stop being suckers.

  6. You will have a Suite check in desk and waiting lounge in the terminal. Your SeaPass cards will be gold colored. Most drinks will be available between 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM at n/c for suite guests in the Concierge Lounge. There is a reserved seating area forward of the pools for suite guests. You will also have reserved seating in theater and ice show.

Here is a link to the full suite benefits:

You do have a check in line for suites only but there isn't a waiting lounge in San Juan. They just have a bunch of chairs set up along the wall but they are for anyone. Or at least that was the way it was last month.

  7. I was on the same week as you. Just to add to your great review.

"The phone has a small clock on it, but you need to use either your phone or bring a travel alarm"

-You don't have to bring another alarm with you as you can set a wakeup call.

"We had savory bites on 4 nights, I believe. My son had escargot several nights."

-Savory Bites were available every night. Someone else ordered the escargot every night as well.

"Our favorite was a quartet. They played a variety of rock. The drummer was a lady and was an awesome singer"

-I think they were called "Music Motion" and they were great. If people have a chance to see them on a cruise don't miss it. They really had the lobby bar going every night they played.

  8. That's awesome! Any idea how much the other items went for such as blowing the horn? And would you know if you could gift it to someone on a future sailing or does it have to be redeemed that sailing? Thanks any info would be greatly appreciated!!

They did this but it was for the earthquake in Haiti instead of Make a Wish. This was shortly after it happened and were raising money for supplies. Anyway they had a blow the horn and watch sail away from the bridge that went for $1200 and the engine tour was $800 before the first show. For the second show it was only $500 and $200 for the engine tour. So it will really depend on who at the show both times there was a maybe a 100 people watching/bidding.

  9. I never thought of this for football. We are Auburn fans and the cruise director has confirmed that the National Championship game will be played during our cruise... Maybe outside?

Do they have the sound on for football games or some bad pop music?

I have seen them show games in a lot of different venues. It will depend on your ship as to were its shown.

  10. We have done this a few times over the years due to school year schedules and this was the only time we could go. Sure it was nice but not really that much different for me, especially since it's about twice the price of the following week. Next year the school schedules will allow us to cruise the following week, for me it's an easy choice. Fly down a week early and do the News Years party in Florida, take a cruise and still save $$$. For several thousand dollars you can buy a lot of noise makers, hats and 2015 glasses. See you on Jan 3, 2015 by the pool on the Oasis

That is exactly what a group of us did last year. Went and stayed in Florida for a different NYE away from home. Then boarded the ship for a cruise. It was a lot of fun because it was something different, fun, still could cruise, and saved a bunch of money vs. spending it on a ship.

  11. I don't treat cruises any different than going to a bar or restaurant at home. I just carry singles with me and tip extra that way. I don't like to add it to the receipt as I assume it would then be taxed or split with everyone. That may not be the case but I would rather give it directly to them. If they split it up after that great, if they don't and keep it all great but at least its their choice.

  12. I typically order something on most cruises and only had one issue. I had my printed confirmation and just went and showed g.s and it was taken care of in minutes. However if you plan on ordering room decorations or something that you want right away because its a surprise I would call before you leave to make sure it is handled. Otherwise they will take care of it on the ship with your email confirmation.

  13. The self leveling pool tables are only available on Radiance class ships. Rhapsody is a Vision class.

That is the class the op wanted to go on based on the first post. They had already been on Rhapsody but wanted the larger class because of the pool tables. Or at least that is what I understood from the question

Edit-Sorry should have look at the rest. I see that has already been cleared up. Sorry

  14. nealstuber-You may as well give this one up. Most are not understanding what you are saying and/or turning it into something else. However you are correct in that its rude to sit down in front or middle if you know you plan(or possibly going to) to just walk out. Sit in the back or in the balcony its common courtesy.

  15. - why do folks buy expensive watches on a ship? I'm kind of a watch geek and I didn't see any prices better then I could do on land in the US.

    - replacing batteries is a no win for most shops.. once they replace it and it still doesn't work somehow if has now become their problem.

As a "watch geek" myself the only way I buy a watch on a cruise is if the price is basically the same as I could get back home. Its a memory of the vacation for me. If I'm going to buy one anyway it may as well have some meaning behind it. For me it isn't because I'm saving a bunch of money as I have never bought one I down South I couldn't find on the internet for the same price.

  16. I'm actually surprised it has a battery. Most of the high end watches are mechanical. Anyway I had a similar issue with a watch and the main reason was because the oring had to be changed and they don't have pressure testers at the stores to do it correctly. Seeing as 95% of watches have a oring the last thing you want is for them to do it with out pressure testing and you go wash your hands now you have a really expensive watch that is really not working. I understand your frustration but you really wouldn't want them to do it anyway.

  17. Oh, from a personal standpoint, I assume "nolesrule" is a Fla. State fan. Congrats on a great season. But as a die hard Auburn fan all I can say come Jan. 6 BCS Championship is

    GO AUBURN... WAR EAGLE! :)

Not a fan of either team but as a football fan that should be a great game to watch. I think FSU is a better team but something about Auburn this year. Sometimes its just meant to be. Sorry for the brief hijack.

  18. On a recent cruise on a refurbished ship, I looked at the back of the TV and found all the connections you would find on todays sets. The TV was connected with coax cable, but there was an HDMI port there also. You would need a remote that allows you to acess the input options to select HDMI.[/quote

I have never needed a remote to plug into the hdmi ports. Seeing as the hdmi port is the default port for tv's once you plug in a device that has signal the tv will switch automatically to that port. If they disabled the ports you can still access the menu to select with out a remote or at least I could on Allure and Liberty when I tried it.

  19. People have been so jaded by rude cruisers it is assumed that everyone is that way. What about this person has made some people here think that they lack common sense and will be jamming out disturbing people 24hrs a day? Based on what was posted I have no reason to think they wouldn't respect others "ocean sounds" or "nap time". Bring it with, enjoy it, and find others that may enjoy it with you. Maybe it will make someones trip more enjoyable and not just yours. Most aren't as jaded as a few on this site happen to be.

  20. I might get slammed here by IMHO the specialty restaurants on RC or any other line simply aren’t worth it.

Tour cruise price includes food so why pay more for restaurants that quite frankly are not much better than the food in the MDR or buffet?

Have you been to them and didn't like them or just don't like the idea of paying more?

  21. So I guess they are sharp in any case...I seem to remember being on a cruise and the guide gave them to us to hold and they were soft and "wiggly". Guess there are different types.

    Thanks

    Barbara

If it was soft and "wiggly" it wasnt a sea urchin as nothing about them is soft and wiggly. It was more likely a sea cucumber which would be more likely picked up by a guide and hand over to someone and fits the soft and wiggly you remember. I can't imagine them taking the chance with giving someone a urchin.

  22. Last year I just went and talked to the host after boarding and wasn't a big deal. They will make it happen for you and even if you get a email for them once you board you would still go and confirm it with them. So I wouldn't worry to much about it.

As for anyone winning big we had our group up to $500 at one point and ended at $348. I would have to believe at one point or another a group must have a win over a 1k.

Also I have only help set these up twice and both times the host really wanted to push us to one machine. It took a little talking to let us select our own choice of machine.
