  1. Seeing as I only use it for the nightly drinks I treat it just as I would if it was a bar. I will either give per drink or I just keep a running total till the end of the week and give all at once. That is for the servers. For the host I just treat it like the h.w will a little bump in the amount. There really is no guideline to follow just what you feel comfortable with. You will see some give a lot and others give nothing.
  2. I have only seen them on Oasis and Allure. I think they only have the Bolds that I have seen as well. I got mine for roughly $100 of us retail and of course no tax. I didn't get mine on the ship but on a Island but it was the same price both places.

  3. You cant book them unless you book the other rooms

Anything on QOS deck plan with a coloured line around it has to be booked as a group of cabins.

    BC

    OC

    IC

    .

No you can book them. You just can't book them right away. They said after a point if a family doesn't book them the go up for sale to anyone.

  4. Starting to think some of the same thoughts too. I was very excited about the solo cabins also. I don't like the idea about the inside cabins being part of the the modular family situation either and will only be available for later booking. If that was the case, they should provide more balcony and inside cabin that aren't part of that for solo cruisers. Maybe they will, who knows? Hopefully they will make changes as they go along to the ship.

I don't think I would want one of the inside that can be used as part of a suite. I would have to see one before I ever considered booking. They just seem strange the way they are built. You are on top of other rooms as it is and those ones even more so with the way the door is. Those were more designed to be made into a large room vs used as a solo cabin.

  5. I have to answer...NO! Based on my daily wardrobe:p:D

Also for any readers who are planning to shop the watch "sale" ...I have to call BS on it! We got a price for a watch we had priced at home...it was far cheaper on board (they do get a nice volume discount from luxury watchmakers) We decided to wait for the "sale", so they covered the watches for like 12 hours (ohh, build demand..."you can't see our watches till the big "sale")...then they tore off the covers and ta da...EXACT SAME PRICES! Bought anyway since it was far cheaper plus no sales tax, but you don't need to get suckered into their drama pretend "sales". Go early while stock is good and negotiate your best price compare in port (be aware they will not take your say so on price, they must have it written and they know that the island stores are not allowed to discount luxury watches (per manufacturer) so while the island shop might sell you one for cheaper with no paper trail; they won't quote it and have the Royal jewelers drop a dime to the manufacturer.) Bottom line- you can do well on watches, but know your prices and don't get sucked into their phony baloney sale...apologies to the sales lady who certainly looks lovely!

Also, loads of folks will agrue that you can buy "online" for cheaper...good luck with that...if it's not a knock off, there is a good chance it's not covered by a warranty, unlike the ships and the islands. We've had no problems servicing watches back home that we bought on the islands.

I agree with that. The sale price is the same amount off no matter when you get it. At least on the watches. You do have to watch the pricing as I was able to find the price locally for the same amount with a quick search. I ended up with another one that the best I could find locally was over $200 more. I did talk to a lady in the lounge one night that purchased a ring that she found for less locally and rccl credited her back the difference so at least they will stand behind the price.

  6. Here is the deal. I was on in March. The event will most likely be in blaze and there will be a person at the door asking to see your room card. You will most likely not get him in and it could be embarrassing to get caught if there is a line to get in. You may get away with it once if there is no one at the door (not likely) but they checked ours most nights and you would've thought he would know our faces by night 3 or 4. Are you engaged? Is he a C&A member already? If so they will probably switch him to Diamond if you call Royal well in advance of your cruise.

Also, on formal nights I learned no shorts. One formal night was a port day and we returned around 5 in shorts and decided to grab a quick drink before showering and going back. They wouldn't let us in which was annoying because I returned later to see another couple in shorts. So it can be hit and miss. But typically the guy was a hawk (which is a good thing as he is there for a reason).

Lastly, if it is the same two bartenders they were awesome. One was from the Dominican Rep (as I recall) and the other from the Philippines. They would have my beer open and her bellini ready before we even got to the bar after a day or two. Really great guys who care about the customers.

    Hope you enjoy!

I was just on and not sure if you are talking about Fe from the Philippines but if so she is the best. She was also the bartender on Serenade when I was on a few years ago so was great to see her again. Anyway on to the first question on the first night Dexter stopped everyone coming in and looked at their card and read the name off. After that first night he never asked to see it again but walked around to every person to welcome them so he would know if someone wasn't supposed to be there.

  7. Be sure to check prices at home BEFORE you leave. The Caribbean isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Have exact model numbers and prices in hand when you go. While you won't be paying sales tax (8-10% savings) you will also NOT be entitled to the US warranties. Those international warranties are tricky at best.

    KNOW BEFORE YOU GO....

I have found the prices marked are about the same price as online but you can always get the pricing down from the marked to save. I have not had a issue using the u.s warranty when I needed to. So its not always a international warranty.

  8. Our last evening had a sensational sunset.

The ship was so beautiful and quiet. I wish we hadn't packed our swimwear in our luggage as the hot tubs and the pool deck (which we forgot to try) were almost completely empty.

Central Park is magical after dark. It's lights reminded me a little about Christmas, especially as we had just heard that Finland got the first snow already...

Good night, Al. Hopefully we'll see you (or your sister, we're not picky) soon.

Love these shots. Make me want to be on a cruise now!

  9. I looked at the site but don't have my fav's listed but I have always used another op. Of the ones they have depending on your group and the conditions if you can get to these.

    1. WIT Shoal-The current can really get ripping out there. It has some great growth on it and with its location it makes for a good oasis for sharks, rays, grouper.

    2. Miss Opportunity- Like others have said its a wreck with a swim through area they lead you in. It will take you front to back of the wreck with some rooms inside they may or may not take you in. Again a good spot to see sharks. I have done this dive 3 times and have always seen sharks including one dive with a monster female bull shark.

Both of these dives are deeper. I would have to look back but I think in the 90' range.

As long as you get away from like the navy barges & Sprat those are the ones everyone goes to for new divers, cruise groups, etc. and are pretty lack luster dives overall.

  10. I have never done it well boarding the first day but always grab some at ports. I have just picked up whatever I wanted a 6 pack of pop, red bull, and whatever else wasn't booze and they always look at it and never said a word. I have done it at ports because they are so busy with people bringing and tagging there alcohol I figure they don't want to deal with a 6 pack of pop. But I think like everything else it just depends on who is working the scanner and what mood they maybe in at that time.
