  1. I am at 74 points, 1 away from next tier.  When I book my next cruise, will I automatically be granted the new tier status at the beginning of the cruise, or does it go into effect at the end?

    Thanks

  2. Years ago, around 15 or so, in New Orleans, the fuel truck had a coupling on the hose come off..1 or 2 cages full of luggage got soaked with diesel fuel.  The passengers did not find out until after the cruise had set sail.  There is no way you can wash/clean the luggage and the contents...

Luggage falling into the water, though a rare occurrence,  still happens occasionally.

I bring on 1 medium size and 1 back pack...always carry on.  When my husband used to cruise with me, we did 1 large, 1 medium, and tote.  Always carried it on.  The porters would tell you, as you passed by, that you would have to check it...but I know better..having done so many, many times.

  3. I tested positive after my last cruise ,4/30 - 5/7/22.  I had to cancel my next one, 5/21/22.  I tested again  within the 10 days prior to that cruise in order to cancel with out penalty.  I had an international trip scheduled for 6/6/22.  I went to my Doctor and got him to give me a document, on the letterhead, stating that I had Covid within the last 90 days, and that I am cleared for travel.  Luckily I did not need to use it, since the US Govt. declared that negative tests were no longer mandated to enter the US from international travel.

Basically, you will need the same approximate document, along with a positive test from within the 90 day window.  I would recommend a test from Walgreen or CVS, instead of EMed, just to be on the safe side.

  4. I tested early due to the fact that I had gotten off the Vista on 5/7, even though I had been diagnosed with congestion from my Dr. on 4/28, (with 4 negative tests leading up to that), I felt worse than I had.  Sunday 5/8 I took 2 home tests (different ones), and on Monday 5/9 went to Walgreens for a test.  All 3 were Positive.  I took another test at Walgreens on 5/12 to be within the 10 days cancellation period of 5/21. That's the only reason that I tested earlier than 5/18.

  5. I just had to cancel my 5/21 sailing on the Vista.  I tested positive within 10 days of sailing. I called to cancel, and the FCC had to be applied to a cruise sailing within 12 months. I had 2 sailings booked for later this year, so I applied the FCC to those. My port fees/taxes, I was able to apply to a cruise in 10/2023. I was not refunded my Carnival insurance fee.  I did email in my Positive test result.

If I had thought about it, I would have called back and tried to get another agent, but I did not feel up to it.

I had spoken with someone in Fun Shops, regarding cancelling my pre booked items, but she transferred me before I got confirmation of the cancellation.  I am now checking my credit card account, looking for the refund.

  6. Native way is still in business.  They made it thru the pandemic (barely).  If you are looking for a great excursion, at a decent price, check them out.  I have gone on over 20+ excursions with them in the last 15 years.

    Their website is nativewaywatersports.com.

If for some reason, they can not accommodate you, they will recommend someone else.

    Thanks

  7. You can always try to contact your PVP, if you have one, they might be able to see the code.

I personally note the code that I booked under, and any details in the folder that I use for the booking.  I print out any documents, excursions, pre orders in it.  I detail on the inside of the folder, the booking details (date booked, promotion, cost/port fees, date balance due, any OBC, etc.), along with notes on any price reductions, plus notes on when I booked any excursions, parking, etc.

    This keeps me organized.

  8. Morning stretch classes and abs classes are free.  The following have a cost, Yoga, Pilates, Boot Camp and Cycle.

The cost is $20 per class.  If you plan on attending 3 or more, you can get an unlimited pass, or a 3 visit pass for less $.

The classes are not always listed in the HUB app, or Fun Times.  The instructor will have a print out of the weeks classes, where you can take a picture of it.

Most of the classes vary day to day, and are not sometimes "true" to the genre of the description.  Some instructors are great, others not so much.

My advise would be to talk to the instructor before hand, and maybe attend one, before you sign up for more.

  9. They are probably still dealing with stocking issues.  They weren't sure when sailing would actually begin, so they probably did not order the items until close till then.  Then you have supply chain issues.  It is not like you can just magically have thousands of items appear out of the blue.  The restaurant where I work ordered some plastic cups last year, usually a 2-3 month turn around.  It took almost 10 months before we got them.

  10. The last 2 cruises I took, January and 2 weeks ago, I had sent in the request 2-3 weeks before the cruise.   It was approved during the cruise, and the OBC applied at that time.  So, even though it might be last minute, go ahead and submit.

They are running a few weeks behind, due to staffing issues, but it might make it.

  11. The terminal was crowded due to the passengers trying to get off the ship 2/26.  The gangway had problems, and it delayed the ones trying to get off.  It created a domino effect.  They were not able to start boarding until almost noon.  The terminal usually is not that crowded.  It had been reported on our facebook group, so most were already aware that there would be a delay, and crowding.

  12. Back in September, I carried on my bags at Galveston.  The Xray Security Confiscated a pair of TSA approved travel scissors.  I am assuming that they were all "gung ho" and new to the job.

Has anyone had any experience with them lately?

Are they still being over zealous?

I leave Saturday, and need to know if I should chance it.

    Thanks

    Lisa

  13. Mahogany Bay, I booked an excursion thru Shore Excursioneer.  The company was a no show.  Waited 75 minutes, only that long due to time difference, in case they were off.  I did get my deposit refunded thru SE.  When we were there, early December, only about 20 or so had independent bookings, every one else did Carnival, or went to beach.

  14. The person who has the offer has to be on the cruise.  There have been cases in the past where the person with the offer was  a no show, and the other passenger got billed the going rate.  This is not always the case, but do you want to chance it.  I am in the same situation.  My DH has fantastic offers, but can't cruise.

  15. All cans of soda (Monsters included) and bottles of wine (1 per adult) MUST be in carry on.  If they are in checked, good possibility that they would be confiscated.  I would recommend putting your toiletry bag and aerosol cans in checked.  But you need to carry on beverages.

  16. For those that have sailed out of New Orleans since the restart...

How strict are the luggage screeners?

The reason I am asking, is that I sailed out of Galveston in September, and they confiscated a pair of folding travel scissors, that were TSA approved.  I heard that I was not the only one that had scissors confiscated. (I am guessing new hires, being over board vigilant).

I do not want to risk losing another pair, if they are the same in NO.

    Thanks
