Where we live $29 gets you basic fish and chips and nothing else.  I think the SD are a fair price and excellent quality.

Let's not forget you have already paid for a meal, this should just be a small upcharge for an upgraded meal, not entirely separate meal pricing.

Someone else posted on another thread that Specialty Dining prices had increased to $45.  I thought this deserved its own thread.  I checked on the app and Sky Princess is now showing $45 for Crown Grill, The Catch and Sabatini’s.

    It was overpriced at $29

Anyone heard that prices are increasing on gratuities at end of August? Haven’t been able to confirm if true. Wanted to pay gratuities with gift cards but customer service doesn’t seem to know how to handle multiple cards. Trying to confirm or will wait till onboard on September 7 and go to guest services.

    Everything goes up regularly now

Since we all know you are against packages, the doubling of the price shouldn't concern you at all since you prefer bareback bones, package free cruising.

I'm not against packages, anyone who wants may buy a package, their choice.  My issue is they are going closer and closer to forcing you into a package to actually book a cruise.

We were on a ship years ago when the unlimited drinks package was started ( not plus or premier).  I remember by 10 am a portion of cruisers were already drunk.  I thought all these years that was why they limited it to 15 drinks.  I was obviously wrong.  All I know is if my next cruise has too many drunks at any time day or night, I will be cruising other lines.

Unlimited alcohol, even 15 drinks is just ridiculous.  No one wants to be around that.  I may have to look for a new line myself.  Doubling the price of some cruises now with packages.

Thank you for posting this. I’m sure many will be happy at this news. As people who don’t get the packages, we predict a further decline in the specialty dining experience. I guess it will fill up Alfredo’s which has become a ghost town since they brought in the charges. Crown grill will be hard to get into for a special evening if Premier package users can go there every night. As it is, on our last cruise it was packed nightly and servers were over run. Not an experience for a special evening.
Unlimited drinks? 15 wasn’t enough I guess. More and more we feel like we are on a “party cruise” on Princess as people try to get their moneys worth out of their packages. May be time to move on.

Yep. Not sure how a person could possibly drink 15 or more alcoholic drinks in a day, but I guess they can try now.  And making SD always available ensures non package people cannot partake even if they want, as those venues will be packed nightly.

Grandchildren will love that Park 19 has been replaced with a big dunking booth where grandparents will compete with stories about how hard life was when they were children, how awful if is to pay seventy-three cents to mail a letter, and what a burden it is to have to pay Medicare premiums (while dropping $10k+ on a vacation).  The last child still awake gets to pull the lever to drop the grandparents into the pool.

It costs 73 cents for a stamp!

Considering how much extra money Princess is/will be potentially raking in on the Sanctuary Class fare, I don’t think they care.  It’s a risk they are willing to take.

I agree though that I’m not sure if the new Sanctuary Class will work on Royal Class ships.  The Sanctuary areas are kind of small and I see more wanting to use this perk because of the ample shaded areas.  I can tell you, for this concept to work on the Majestic, Princess would need to designate the Hollywood Conservatory as The Sanctuary, but as it is now, it’s open to all and no such area exists.

They can easily convert the  retreat areas on other Royal class ships to encompass more sanctuary space.  Won't surprise me they do that in the future.  Will be the end of my cruising with Princess.

Herein lies the rub, for Princess loyalists ( and I consider myself one).

Previously the sanctuary was a much loved and appreciated loyalty perk.  Yes, being elite wouldn't guarantee you a spot, but it helped quite a bit and being able to get a place in the sanctuary definitely inspired me to chase loyalty levels with Princess.

If they take that away, they offer very little loyalty rewards that anyone will chase.

And if they want to compete with Royal, Royal will be a tough one to take on.  Great loyalty perks, I have many friends who are completely "loyal to royal" just to earn another free drink.

This is a real issue to me they are taking away something very attractive that was tied to loyalty and making it just about money.  Will this impact loyalty?

People on their first cruise will no longer be plotting how to obtain  Elite to have a better shot at the sanctuary.

Will they care less about loyalty to Princess?  After all why chase perks when they are easily taken away.

Or can be purchased, no loyalty required

Princess has proven they really don't care about loyalty.  As long as there are people willing to take your or my cabin, they have no reason to focus on loyalty.  The reductions over the years in loyalty perks are frustrating to many of us.

We are planning on dropping our checked luggage off at the port before returning our rental car, then we will take the rental car shuttle back to port, then board the ship (Enchanted Princess).  This way we don't have to handle our checked bags during the shuttle process and we can just board from the shuttle.

What time do they generally start collecting luggage at the port?

    Thanks!

The Carnival Corporation owns Carnival (family/kids), Holland America (older cruisers), Seabourn (luxury), Costa (budget), Aida and P&O (not sure) and then Princess (middle age, semi upscale, value). Given this line up; why is the Carnival Corporation messing with Princess by trying to appeal to everyone?
These are my thoughts what do you think?

Yes.  Trying to make Princess' newest ships more like Carnival/Royal seems like a bad idea to me.  They already have lines for that.

We had our grandchildren with us on the Enchanted back in April.  We assumed the retreat pool was age restricted, so stayed with the main pool - which they loved anyway.  But another onboard pointed out that there are no signs restricting the retreat pool to a certain age.  Not sure myself.

There are signs.  If entering from the corridor on deck 17 there is a sign there indicating it's adults only.  I think there might be a sign out side as well, but don't really remember.
