  1. Now to throw another monkey wrench into the situation. Has anyone with a Carnival Mastercard used the travel insurance that comes with the card? DH discovered today that since we paid for the cruise with the Carnival MC it has travel insurance. But. . . . is it good insurance and will we be ok to just use that? I downloaded the information and it's like a gazillion pages. DH called and the representative was very hard to understand. I did find a great policy on Squaremouth so whomever recommend that, THANK YOU!
  2. Yes. We've always flown into FLL when we've cruise out of Miami in the past for that reason. Southwest was having a sale and it was cheaper to fly into Miami so that's what we did.
  3. Does anyone have any suggestions on insurance coverage? We've always bought insurance from an outside source rather than with Carnival but for some reason this has become so confusing and stressful this time around. Any thoughts on how much coverage to get for evacuation? Right now two of my biggest fears are airline cancellation and Indiana weather! We don't land in Miami until 11:30 the night before. If we are cancelled the flights out of Indy to Miami would be non existent in the evening hours. To add Indiana weather to that mix is stressing me out. Due to our work schedule this was THE only flight we could make "the day before." To add to this, we'll only need a hotel for a few hours and finding something reasonable is insane. We may just stay in the airport and uber to the port. All support and help is greatly appreciated!
  4. I'm curious as to where you are staying. We too do not arrive until nearly midnight. The thought of $300 or more for a few hours of what I hope is sleep is killing me. I'm almost to the point of just hanging out in the airport and getting transportation to the port from there.
  5. We have found it cheaper and more convent to do Uber or Lyft. I say that because, in our experience, you have to wait until a large bus is full before they will take you. If you book your own transportation you can get there quicker and it's just you and your party.
  6. I'm looking for a room as well for our January cruise. I hate to think of paying too much for a room as our flight doesn't land until 11:30 the night before. Anyone rent rooms by the hour? LOL. I'm almost at the point to just stay in the airport and Uber or Lyft to the port. Anyone know the approximate cost to do that?
  7. I'm looking for a hotel that is also near a place to pick up soda before our cruise. Would this work for us? When people say "mall" I'm unsure exactly what that might mean.
  8. I totally agree! We've used SAS at least 4 times and had nothing but excellent service. The only issue you might find is they have a list of the hotels that they transport from. You'll have to pick one, and there are several, from their list. Again, we've never had an issue and highly recommend them.
  9. When you say "mall" would it be possible to get soda there in cans without having to drive? Walking distance? We literally need a room for a few hours as our flight doesn't get into Miami until 11:30 at night. So something affordable and close to somewhere to pick up soda would be great! Thank you.
  10. How long does the ferry take from St. Thomas to St. John? We are only there from 8 to 4 sadly. This is my dream stop on our 8 day cruise and one reason we booked it was due to St. Thomas/St. John. It's for sure on my bucket list of stops. I'm welcome to any and all suggestions. Thank you in advance.
  11. Ok Carnival peeps, I have a question and need your help. In the past, one could go to the Carnival web site and do a mock booking to compare prices and then, if lower, submit a price reduction form or call their PVP and have them submit the form. I've done this three maybe four times, in the past, with great success. When I go in now, it won't allow me to compare room to room. It automatically assigns the balcony room, so I have no idea what room/category to compare ours to. It won't allow me to pick the floor or the room number. I assume, which I probably shouldn't, that the room is likely lower as all of the deals people are posting on other social media outlets. Today the price of a "balcony," they are assigning is $799 per person and we paid $879 for category 8A. How can I compare my cruise for a cruise? Is this a sales ploy to avoid a lower price? Any suggestions or thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks everyone!
