Considering Canada is delaying 2nd vaccines for 4 months, that offer will definitely help some folks.

Except DeSantis just killed cruising by saying no businesses can require proof of vaccine - except the CDC just required that all crews and port personnel be vaccinated. So now there's a conflict for the port personnel.

I just started a new thread about the mess.

So... yesterday the CDC released new technical instructions for moving forward on starting cruising again. Among the requirements is establishing a plan and timeline for vaccination of crew and port personnel.

Enter Governor DeSantis, who is pushing for cruising to reopen but who passed a law for Florida the other day banning any kind of COVID vaccine "passport", including for businesses. Workers -including port personnel - do not have to prove they've had a COVID vaccine. 

Rock, meet hard place.

The new CDC no cruise order from the US now goes until Nov 1st.

And I see someone else just said their Jade cruise was cancelled for late October, also for "redeployment". Our cruise was a fall leaf tour on the Joy, NYC to Canada.

Well, we were expecting it and are glad we weren't left hanging until early September. Unfortunately, this is our 3rd cruise in a row that has been cancelled. The good thing, we will received a 10% increase in our cruise credits, according to the email.

August 2022? I think you have a pretty good chance. By this summer, a good amount of the US will be vaccinated against COVID and NCL will have had time to do a bunch of trial cruises.

Our FCC were issued in both CA and US dollars, a few years ago.

Portugal has a population of only 10 million people. Depending on vaccine availability, they could bounce back quickly. There's no way to tell how things will go until we get closer to that time.

BTW, the original poster's question was simply about paying a fee to change a booking.

 Lisbon isn't the US, other countries have done a much better job of dealing with COVID and now that vaccines are available It's possible this cruise - which doesn't involve America - might make it. We won't know until we get closer.

If you don't want to pay the fees, ask to speak to the cruise consultant's supervisor. If you bump things up the chain they can be pretty accommodating, especially over something as small as that fee.

Personally, as soon as our first cruise in March 2020 was cancelled, I wrote off the money that was transferred into FCC. But as long as the company exists I have hope I'll be able to transfer that money to a new cruise. (Right now, we're looking at our 3rd cruise being cancelled due to COVID.)

Just yesterday I was reading the US is currently vaccinating people at a rate of 1.3 million per day. Canada is vaccinating at a rate of about 6,000 per day.

Canada has 1/10 the population of the US, roughly.

I think if NCL cancels you get 125% back, so might want to let them cancel.

I was thinking our NY to Canada cruise in September was looking pretty unlikely. Canada isn't even scheduled to vaccinate general population until at least August.

We booked for the end of 2021, for an itinerary that's seldom offered. I hope it works out, we had 2 different cruises cancelled this year, in March and a re-book attempt in September.

Blame the virus, not the US government. If the virus didn't exist, if people weren't dying in large numbers, there would be no reason for any government anywhere in the world to have to react to the virus in order to protect their people.

Considering both the US and the world are currently on upwards swings of COVID infections, no one will be going very far for a little while. Atleast not in large groups.

My comment is based on his previous decisions and actions. He didn't want the other cruise ships to dock and had the no sail order put into place. Time will tell which course he chooses this time.

Don't hold your breath. It would need to be signed by the president and he has no love for cruise ships that could carry the virus. And with none of the cruise ships being registered in the US, he's not going to have an incentive to get things started again.

We went ahead and booked a re-do in 2021 of our Sept 8th cruise that was cancelled. Price was similar when we researched but when we booked they took off the 20% and we actually have a whole bunch of money leftover with our FCCs.

Not doing too bad in Canada, about 300 new cases and 4 deaths per day for the entire country. Ontario is at its most open controlled stage. Many municipalities have mask requirements for indoor activities as well as social distancing, but our restaurants and stores are open, and even some movie theaters are opening.

I'm retired. DH's employer would require him to isolate for 14 days after his return from travelling. Fortunately, he can work from home.

With COVID cases spiralling upward in new states, it's no surprise that the CDC wouldn't be interested in discussing sailing from US ports, right now.

Our cruise was Sept 8th and is still showing the on hold/make a payment now page. I figure that page is just a general place holder. We did receive an email from NCL giving the same cancellation info as what is listed in the link that was previously posted. 

Chances are the place holder page will be removed at the same time the cruise listing is removed and replaced with an FCC (if you don't choose a refund).
