Still waiting for NCL to admit my Sept 8 Canada cruise is cancelled. My NCL account only says it's on hold. I guess they have to hold everyone's money a little longer to bring in enough interest to make it worth their while.

If your sailing goes, it looks like you scored! Hopefully your fellow cruisers feel the same.
I think the Canada cruise costs more than a Bermuda cruise?

That is Canada and Europe cruises we already heard about days ago.
Urm, I have a Canada cruise booking with NCL for Sept and haven't heard a thing - except the website now says it's on hold.

Disney announced their cancellations, already. https://www.travelmarketreport.com/articles/Disney-Cruise-Line-Cancels-More-Europe-and-Alaska-2020-Sailings

I hope it's not because of a failed CDC meeting...but the timing of it is suspect. Especially if other lines are also showing as "sold out". I just checked Celebrity and only one August 1 ship (Infinity) is showing as completely sold out.
That could just be how their IT handles web page changes.

So far on mine I do not get an error message, you can still book, and we can still make our payment. I will keep checking. Our final payment is due on the 19th, so I have a week.
DH just checked Encore. We're on the same cruise on the 8th. Encore shows Bermuda cruises now but no Canadian cruises.

There’s a big difference between changing ports/itineraries due to unpredictable bad weather and purposely planning on doing something completely different than what was advertised. To be fair, if anybody thinks they’re going to Canada this year simply because that’s what the cruise was advertised/marketed as then they need to have their heads shaken a bit.
Another good point. There is a difference with a last minute change due to weather and one made three months in advance and not informing the passenger.

Absolutely. Do a quick poll on CC of how many people have had their Bermuda cruise turned into a Canada/New England cruise due to bad weather. And didn't find out until they were boarding the ship - with clothes for the wrong season! It has happened multiple times.
Here's just one example from 2018 from the NCL Dawn:
Point taken. You've given me something to think about.

Carry disinfectant wipes for the guy who might sneeze. Sneezes can be cause from a variety of things....cologne or perfume, dust, allergies, etc. Just because a person sneezes, doesn't mean s/he's riddled with COVID 19. If the person who sneezes was not feverish upon embarkation, as they're checking for, I believe it's highly doubtful s/he's spreading the virus.
That's blatantly obvious. I'm of course refering to someone who is carrying the virus. And disinfectant wipes don't protect you from virus that can float in the air for an extended period of time.
That said, I would probably just be one of those people wearing a mask to lessen my chances of catching anything, as I had lung surgery last year.

No one knows if those cruises will be cancelled. It is completely within the existing cruise contract that folks agree to when they book that NCL can change ports and itineraries as they choose.
These cruises may wind up not being cancelled, but cruising to the Bahamas (or another port(s) that may be open at that time.)
Are you saying turning a Canadian fall foliage cruise into a Caribbean cruise? I think that might stretch credibility to the point of leaving them open to bait and switch charges.

As such, the transmission through passenger and crew breathing, sneezing, coughing etc (which is the overwhelming way it is transmitted) is virtually eliminated.
Welllll, no. Disease coming in through the air ducts from other areas of the ship would be virtually eliminated. Disease coming from the guy 2 rows over from you who just sneezed, nope.

Agreed, even a day on deck in the Caribbean in September would get you kicked out of the MDR and locked in your cabin.
My husband made a point, how will they correct for women who are ovulating? I know when I was that age my temp could definitely go above 100.4.

Apparently, NCL is just holding on to money as long as possible. Make some money on interest of the money held, let as many people as possible cancel on their own so they don't have to pay out 125% if they cancel.

Both P&O and RCI have already cancelled their Canadian cruises, based on Canada not allowing cruises through Oct 31st.

That'll be our second cruise canceled this year. 😞

I'm glad I don't have anything coming up soon (after our March cruise got canceled). At this point, I'd be making choices based on how each port was handling things and that gets caught up with timing as to whether you cancel before or after final payment. That is, whether you get cash back or just cruise credits.

"This strengthens the company's financial position and ensures it is well positioned to withstand well over 12 months of voyage suspensions," said the company statement.

My first reaction was, don't look a gift cruise policy in the mouth.

DH tried calling on Sunday when he first heard about the Peace of Mind policy. He was on hold for 36 minutes only to be told they weren't doing those cancellations until the 10th. When we look at the policy FAQ, that actually says it starts on the 11th and gives a new number to call: 1-800-327-7030 (U.S. and Canada).
We figure NCL has hired a new emergency call center group to take calls at this new number.

We leave March 15th for our March 16th cruise from NYC. I would also like to see NCL offer a future cruise credit for those of us so close to our sail date.

Hearing that the administration would potentially suspend cruising for a period of time, but would also provide the cruise industry a financial "bail out" of sorts to cover losses like they did for the banks, car manufacturers and airlines during the recession.
Would they suspend airline travel for the airlines that brought back corona passengers from China, Italy and Iran? You have to be evenhanded in this stuff, or a judge slaps your hand and says you can't do it.

I agree we need to start to bombard their social media accounts. We need to be at least be able to reschedule for a later date. I have already made a post on their FB page. I am sure there are plenty of cruisers who have the same feelings.
Their Facebook page isn't taking messages, anymore...

Folks who are traveing in May and June, no point in making adjustments just yet. You won't really know where things stand until you get closer to departure time.

NCL cancels all August and September sailings
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
Our cruise was Sept 8th and is still showing the on hold/make a payment now page. I figure that page is just a general place holder. We did receive an email from NCL giving the same cancellation info as what is listed in the link that was previously posted.
Chances are the place holder page will be removed at the same time the cruise listing is removed and replaced with an FCC (if you don't choose a refund).
