We are flying to Sydney, doing a Princess Land Tour then boarding for a Princess cruise around New Zealand with port calls. The Princess fine print says visas are required for both countries.

We found the easy "evisa" sites and completed the applications for tourists. We were notified via email they were approved. Other than that we received no paperwork. Will customs know we have visas when we arrive? Does it pop up on their screen when they scan our passport?

    thanks in advance!

Yes.. Exactly...  ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) is electronically  linked to your passport..  It is same as Australian or NZ passport holders needing ESTA linked to passport to enter USA.

Dont need hard copy, however we always have copy of passport and other paperwork when travelling. (Life made much easier In case of theft or loss)

What websites do you guys use to find flights?

We have been looking at a few different cruises all over the world, but finding flights have been a bit of a pain.

Before covid we use to use Webjet a bit, but they now have a booking fee, so that rules them out.

I know about Skyscanner but they are a pain to use!

We have used ITA software site MATRIX for many years now, and use it as a guide before going to airline site.. ... They do not sell flights, and are used by google etc.

    Hope that helps,

A question to you all. In October 2023, my wife and I will be taking the transpacific cruise from Seattle to Tokyo. What is reasonable to expect for weather at that time either crossing the Pacific. Average temperature would be great. To have an idea of whether or not we will be considering swimming in the ship’s pool.

In mid September we found seas across under the Bering relatively no different from anywhere else..   We were hoping  for "Deadliest Catch" type seas.. 🙂  Weather rather cool for pools until reaching a warm Japan. Then the rain started, with wet weather remaining for most of our travels during the next 2 weeks.

I saw there was discussion on this forum as to whether this cruise would be cancelled and I received the news from Princess today. We were travelling with six friends who have never cruised before and of course they are all very disappointed...as am I.

We will get all our money back of course but cruises from and to Freo are limited. Princess have suggested we book  the earlier cruise that sails from Fremantle to Singapore. Unfortunately there are very few cabins left.

    Back to the drawing board.

    cheers

Thanks for suggestion. I do know USA citizens don’t need a Visa at all in Turkey but Australian citizens do ( for certain things ) so that is why I stuck to Australian forum.

Just trying to find an Australian who did disembark and went straight to airport.

Have visied Turkey by ship several times, and as you said, Visa not required, permit issued and passport held.  However, last visit was during back to back, and where we were to disembark Istanbul and fly home after second cruise...   Obviously needed passports in hand to leave ship for good, so applied  to Turkish Govt, paid, and visa issued before we left Australia.

    Alexandria, Egypt.

BINGO !!    Alexandria.. Beautiful grounds around dock area..  Place where on first visit we walked off intending a DIY discovery walkabout. .. So spooky and dirty outside near near port area, it was 30 mins later that we turned around and went back to  ship.. Next visit we took an excursion which was not much better.. ...

    ALL YOURS !!

This has made my day!!! - and sailing from Tilbury, London. This "could" give me a reason to go back to the UK one more time. https://www.ambassadorcruiseline.com/

A "Friends Of" group for that new line is on a much used social media site. Group was created by folk who were "friends of CMV"  which sadly went bust due to covid. (Ships Marco Polo, Astor, and others have been scrapped). It seems associates could be involved with Ambassador...  Tilbury is a great location to sail from, and the smaller ship experience is great...
