  1. Anyone know if the Port of Miami charges for 7 nights or 8 days. I know some of the ports are charging for an extra day now.

They didn't last year. We were on an 8 day cruise and got charged for 8 days. I know if we had been going out of Port Canaveral they charge for an extra day, so we would have been charged for 9 days.

  2. I questioned that too. She kept telling me that once I did the price protection, it was as if I booked under the new promotion and lost my old promotion. I guess the old promo had the $50/pp cancelation fee and the More=Merrier promo did no???? She said I could still use the Early Saver perks and get a price adjustment for up to 2 days before sailing. so I said, then I should still have the Early Saver rate as my promo. She still said not.

I am looking now to find an email address to send my complaint and screenshots to for assistance. I guess I'll start with the standard "contact us" email on Carnival's site.

I'll let you know how I make out ;)

When I check your cruise I do find the More=Merrier rate. But there are 2 of them. One that allows you to choose your room, the other doesn't. Which one are you booked with and which one were you trying to match to?

It could definitely have an affect on your booking. If they let you switch to the one that was a guarantee last time (which they usually don't, but if they did), you probably couldn't price match now. Or if you are trying to match now to the one that is a guarantee, they aren't allowing that since you aren't matching the exact category.

  3. I just called to make sure it was still going on and like stated they are honoring the promotion until 11:59 pm June 16th (tonight). I was excited because was planning on buying one for my cruise this saturday and using the extra money, but the rep told me the extra credit takes 10 business days to be received... bummer for me but could still work for some people!:(

I don't know anybody who is waiting 10 days to get the promotional card. If you do a ecard, the promotional card comes overnight. I did 3 cards on 2 separate days. Each time I got the ecard immediately and then received the promotional ecard at midnight and again at 5am. For some reason they were sending them out twice but the number was the same. So you should be able to get your promotional card tomorrow if you order today.

  4. I understand. Midnight June 16th was this morning not tomorrow morning, because then that would be Midnight June 17th. It's the "through June 16th" that people take issue with, which was noted on the home page and is now gone. I was able to take advantage of this offer last week, mid week. What a PITA if you're trying to get it today.

I totally agree that it said through June 16th not until June 16. My thought is that the person putting this on the website saw midnight June 16 and wrote that it was through June 16. They were the one that got it wrong and confused everybody. Just a possibility. If this is the case Carnival should honor what was on the site.

  5. I stayed in 2374 last month and I lost a LOT of sleep with the carts rolling overhead. Looking for a quieter location and hopefully in the gab between lifeboats.

    Anyone have a good spot?

I like the coves between the forward and midship elevators. We chose one under the midship dining room. It was very quiet since the dining room is carpeted and empty at night. I know they use this dining room for the brunch but we didn't have any trouble. We stayed in cabin 2294 on the Breeze in April 2013 and would definitely book this cabin again. It did have a lifeboat above it , but that was OK with us since we like the shade on the balcony. If we want sun we go up to the Lido deck. Sometimes you need to get out of the sun. Too much is not good for you.

  6. I think they are having a hard time deciding what midnight means. Some representatives are saying it ended at midnight, so it is over. Others are saying midnight coming up, so it is still available. I think they should have picked a time 1 minute after midnight so there would not be any confusion. This is why I try to not wait until the last day of something. I also don't like to be 1 of the first people to try something, since there might be some bugs at first.

  7. Just purchased my e-card. Received the card, when does the promotional email come. These things make me nervous.

I ordered 2 egift cards on separate days. Both times my promotional card came in the overnight hours (midnight and 5am ET). And I do mean midnight AND 5am ET. I received 2 emails for the card but the number is the same on each. The second day I ordered around 8 in the morning and it still do not come until overnight. So don't get worried about it unless it doesn't arrive by tomorrow morning.

  8. Does anyone know what floors the glass elevators in the atrium on the Splendor go to? I know it's a silly question but trying to figure on room location on lido.

I haven't been on the Splendor yet but from the deck plans it looks like they go up to the Spa deck, maybe even the Sun deck, and then all the way down to Main deck. They don't go any lower, so no Riviera or Deck 0. Are you wanting to know if they go to Lido Deck? Then the answer is Yes.

  9. I just bought a gift card but when I went into my booking and applied it it never asked for the pin number just the card number. Is this normal? It says the payment was accepted.

Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Forums mobile app

Yes, this is normal. I applied 1 online and it worked the same way. I also called and applied 2 more and the representative didn't ask for the pin either, just the card number. I couldn't find a way to do all 3 at the same time, that's why I called. They were the promotional cards, so I wanted to use them first.

I have 2 cruises that have final payments due in the next 7 months. I plan to use the cards on them, but I am waiting to apply the cards until closer to the due date in case there are any price drops that might reduce my balance.

  10. Our booking says 4D and 6D for our two cabins....what does that mean? I don't see it in your list. Sailing on Paradise.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

    They are on the list.

    Your 4D is this: 4A - 4I: Inside - All Ships

    Your 6D is this: 6A - 6E: Oceanview - All ships

Each of those are a range, so they include all letters from A through I (A, B, C, D,ect.) on the 4, and all letters A through E on the 6.

  11. I am looking for help to find inside cabin on Carnival Breeze for two adults and two teens , which stateroom category or stateroom should we pick ?

Probably one sofa bed and bunk bed in addition to regular bed .

Hopefully we all 4 can fit in ...

The only inside cabins that have a sofa bed are the PT (porthole) but none of them are for 4 people. If you don't want 2 uppers you will have to book an Ocean View Cabin.

The A, B, C, etc only indicates location. The higher the letter the higher the deck on the ship. Make sure you check to see what is above you and below you. It is always nice to have cabins above and below you and not a club, the Lido deck around the pool, the galley, or anything that might have more noise. If you choose one of the Ocean View cabins make sure you are not under the galley. Like BettyCruiser said, that would probably be the best choice.

    Sharon

  12. Another negative is that due to the location on deck 2, most midship coves are under the galley (kitchen) which can cause noise early in the morning. The more forward coves are right below guest services, and are very quiet.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

Coves under the galley or quest services aren't the only choices. There are also coves under the dining room and those are quiet because the dining room is carpeted.

  13. Hey, stones902...does the Isla Verde provide transportation from the airport and to the pier? Looking at staying there next cruise since the Embassy Suites is already booked!

From everything I have read, I think there are only taxis from airport. I think it has to do with the taxi companies exerting their power. Every once in a while I read someone saying they will never stay at such and such hotel because they did not provide a shuttle to and from the airport in San Juan. But when I check the other hotels, I can't find one that does. So I guess those people may not have any hotel to stay at the next time they come to San Juan :D.

  14. Trying to call Celebrity direct can be a problem. Long wait times can be frustrating. Some agents are good. Many agents are bad. Some seem to make up answers randomly. Some cruise lines are using off shore call centers. I have spoken to Celebrity reps in Witchita and Miami. Find a Travel Agent. They can match any cruise fare offered and often extend other perks. Then when you have a concern, call the travel agent. They will answer the phone. If they value your booking, they will get through to Celebrity. Good travel agents want repeat business. Fortunately, the experience on the ship is good. I wonder how many people are so frustrated by the call center that they go away.

I don't know how many have gone away, but I can tell you I have gone away. I had a cruise on the Eclipse booked for March 29, 2015, but kept running into problems and long waits. Maybe the onboard experience is great but I don't really know that. Without a good onboard experience I had no incentive to stick it out and decided to cancel the cruise.

I keep checking back here to see if things have changed. But apparently it has not. This had been going on since January of this year, which is when I booked. When they get things straighten out, I will consider booking a cruise.

  15. Thanks for the pictures. I just want to verify that you self park your car and take the keys.

Yes, you drive your car to the parking area, you choose your parking place, and you take your keys. I also don't like places that want you to leave your keys with them.

They have a special parking area for cruisers. My husband takes the car there and then comes back to the lobby to catch the shuttle. This way when you get back from your cruise they drive through that parking area and drop you off near your car.

  16. I see that they have 2 different cruise deals. One includes breakfast and the other does not. Difference in price is $20.00. Not sure if the breakfast is worth $20.00. I would greatly appreciate any comments regarding their breakfast. We could probably grab some fast food for half of that. Last year we stayed at Comfort Inn & Suites which includes breakfast for about the same price as Radisson with no breakfast. I can't seem to find many reviews for Radisson, so not sure how nice it really is.

I have stayed here twice before a cruise. But have never bought the package with the breakfast. There is a restaurant very close where you can get breakfast. There is also a McDonalds across the street and a Subway nearby.

The rooms can very. Some have been renovated and some have not. Both times I stayed there we had a renovated room. My son was there in January and had a non-renovated room. He said it definitely wasn't as nice. If it is for only 1 night I wouldn't worry.

The nice thing about the Radisson is the grounds and pool. It definitely had a great vibe and is a good way to start your vacation. The pool is very nice and there is a bar next to it where there is usually live music. We left our car there and had no trouble at all with the shuttle.

I have attached a few pictures so you can get a feel for the pool area and how close you are to the port.

  17. Can we bring a personal iron or steamer?

    Both are a NO.

Here is the information according to the Carnival site FAQs.

Are there restrictions on what we can bring aboard?

RESTRICTED ITEMS – SAFETY AND SECURITY POLICY

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment, Carnival prohibits bringing certain items onboard. Additionally, we reserve the right to confiscate (and destroy) any articles that in our discretion are considered dangerous or pose a risk or inconvenience to the safety and security of the ship, or our guests, and no compensation will be provided.

    Confiscated Items

    • Alcohol (hard liquor)/sealed, unopened bottles

    • Beer/sealed, unopened bottles/cans

    • Wine or champagne/sealed, unopened bottles - beyond the allowable limit of one bottle (750 ml. size) per adult 21 years of age (brought on at embarkation time only in their carry-on luggage)

Clothing irons and steamers (all Carnival ships offer laundry facilities with irons and ironing boards. Fleet-wide valet laundry service is also available for a nominal fee.)

    • Electrical and household appliances, i.e. coffee makers, hot plates, toasters, etc. (See Exceptions)

    • Heating Pads

    • Hookah

  18. I thought the Dream and the Magic only did 7+ days?

Because of hubby's job and his difficulty in getting even 5 days off in a row, 7+ days aren't even a choice at this point because mgmt wouldn't ever approve it even though he's been with the company for nearly 20 yrs. It's just the nature of the business.

Believe me, I'd LOVE to be able to take a 7+ day cruise, but at the moment, it just ain't happening. We're also thinking that next year (since this year's are already paid for) we'll be able to get a bigger cabin since I recently went back to work after many years as a SAHM.

The Dream and the Magic do 7 day cruises. They start on Sunday and end on Sunday. If your husband works a normal week (Monday to Friday, with weekends off) you should be able to do one of these.

Where do you live in Texas? I have friends that live in Sherman and are able to do the Magic very easily. They drive down on Saturday so they know they will be there to start the cruise and then drive home on Sunday after getting off so they are ready for work on Monday.

  19. I think I see their problem. Regular inside cabins like a 4A, don't have 3 beds on the floor. If you book a room for 3 you have two lower beds that can be pushed together and 1 upper. My suggestion is to book either the Dream out of New Orleans or the Magic out of Galveston. The category you should book is a PT (Porthole) it will be set up similar to a balcony, with 2 beds that can be pushed together and a sofa bed. These go for the same price as a 4A. But there are only a couple of those that will hold 3 people and you need to book them early.

  20. My dad has over $1200 in nonrefundable OBC. He doesn't drink, gamble, or take ship excursions. He's not interested in the steakhouse or photos. He's thinking maybe he could shop for xmas presents at the shops, but I have my doubts he could manage to use up so much with their selections. I thought I had read that he could cash out in the casino, but my pvp said he could only cash out winnings, not the original amount he uses. I thought maybe we could give him cash and he could transfer some to our account. Is there any way of doing that besides putting us on his account?

How did you get 1200 in nonrefundable OBC? If some of it is from price drops using Early Saver it has been refundable for me. Last year I had over $500 OBC credit left on the last day and I went to Guest Services and they gave me the money that was remaining in cash.

Not ever having played the slot machines, can you go into a little more detail about how to do this? Are you saying you put your S&S card in the slot machine, and move say $200 to the machine. Play a couple of games, and say lose $30, then you can cash out and walk away with $170 cash in hand? How does one cash out?

Yes, you put your S&S card in the machine and go through the steps of setting up an account. I think the most you can put into the account at one time is $300. My husband did this one day and then played a little. The next day he put an additional $200 into his account and played a little. He was only $5 down. He then went to the cashier and cashed out the casino account and they gave it to him in cash. We used that cash to pay for our private excursions, taxis, etc. while in the 4 ports of call.

The money you put into the casino account will appear as an entertainment charge on your S&S account. So that lowers your OBC if you have any. Just make sure you play some. If you cash out without playing they might not let you do it again.

  21. Just booked 2366. There were some available more forward but I like to be midship or aft. Will this cabin be ok as far as noise??

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

All I can tell you is that cabin in under the galley. Not all cabins under the galley have noise but some of them do. They work in the galley at all hours of the day. This is where they prepare all the meals (breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner) and where all the clean up is (think large dishwashers running above you). Some people say they have heard nothing in their cabin under the galley and others who complain that they have a lot of noise for several hours in the middle of the night. So you are taking a chance unless someone posts that they had cabin 2366 and there was no noise.

We needed a cabin for three that is why we choose 2294 because there wasn't much choice that wasn't under the galley.

  22. I was considering getting a Cove balcony, maybe an inside room on the Breeze and I'm curious if anyone has previously sailed on deck 2 and can give me their input please. I typically always plan my stateroom where it is not below any public spaces due to being a light sleeper. Did you hear a lot of noises and what stateroom were you in? If we choose the Cove balcony is there a spot better than others? We considered a regular balcony as well but I really do not like how deck 5 jets out, etc. Not sure if we would be affected by this that much the higher we go. We have never sailed on Breeze before so I've been trying to read all the reviews, study pictures, etc.

Thanks for any input you can give. :D

We had a cove balcony on the Breeze in April last year. Our cabin was 2294. It is under the dining room. I only heard noise a couple of times during dinnertime and it was very light. The dining room is carpeted so it helps keep down the sound. That dining room was used for the Brunch and I never heard anything then. I am also a light sleeper and I thought it was a great room and I liked the location. Not too far from the front elevators but far enough away not to hear the dings.

You don't want to be between the middle and aft elevators because those cabins are under the galley. Some of those can be noisy, but not all of them.
