    Thanks!  (Said their proud valet.)

re garages…it’s fascinating to drive through our neighborhood and look in the garages.  Some look like pack rat nests…floor to ceiling, wall to wall…some are neatly arranged but still completely filled.  Since there are no tool sheds here a lot goes in the garages.  We have a yard service, if we didn’t then the mowers, blowers, sprayers, trimmers,  etc would all have to be inside the garage.

Our neighbors have so much stuff in their garage that they have to unload the groceries before moving the car into the garage.

My favorite garage story.  When we moved to Atlanta our house had a “enclosed “ carport. The house was on 2 sides and the third side was a solid wall.  I guess it wasn’t a garage because it didn’t have a door, but I thought of it as a garage.  I called to get a quote on insurance.  I explained it was a garage but didn’t have a door.  There was a pause before she asked “then how do you get the car out?”.  I said “the same way we get it in”.

May I ask when that was?  I'm under the impression that all the cruise ships currently use Canada Place/Pan Pacific to dock nowadays.  Previously, some ships also docked at Ballantyne Pier which is about 10min east of Canada Place.  However, Ballantyne Pier is no longer used for cruise ships.

Here's a link to the Port of Vancouver cruise schedule page.  You need to click on the link mid-page to pull up the actual schedule which currently only shows the 2023 season.

It was quite a few years ago, I believe in 2014 or 2015.  We were doing a repo from Vancouver to Hawaii.  I just remember how disappointed I was that our ship wasn’t going to be right there.  The cab ride was more than 10 minutes and I remember passing by a tent city used by the homeless population.  We haven’t been back in Vancouver since then.  We had a great time there, and I’m glad they use the Canada Place docks.  It was a great area to walk around.

Unfortunately the latest flight we could get leaves at 3:30pm.

For our trip next summer, we decided to stay an extra night and fly out on an early flight.  We’re doing the Stonehenge trip and staying at a Hilton hotel next to terminal 3.  I really,  really wanted to see Stonehenge.  It also gets us back into Atlanta early enough to make the 2.5 hour drive home.  The afternoon flights got into Atlanta late enough we would probably stay there overnight.

  4. In order to cruise more frequently we’ve changed from grand suites to junior suites.  But on Oasis class I do miss having Coastal Kitchen for breakfast and lunch.  So I was looking (out of curiosity) at Icon.  I believe I picked summer of 2025.  A regular JS was about $5200 per person and the sky was about $8000.  So, a difference of $5600 for the 2 of us.  Even if the other ships are half that, it’s not worth it.  We get 5 drink vouchers each every day and rarely use them all.  We share internet so get 4 days free, and usually buy 1 or 2 days.  Breakfast in CK is nice but if we cruise more we’ll be pinnacle soon.  I’ll look at the cost difference when the new cruises are announced, but I don’t think we’ll upgrade.

I like baseball, but that’s how I feel about watching soccer. Like watching paint dry.

We started watching soccer when our son started playing at about 7.  We decided we needed to see what the sport really looked like.  During the season we’re up early to watch EPL matches.  This weekend we will watch the US team and try to catch some of the other national teams.

Happy Thanksgiving my friend! The meal looks fantastic. Ever tried egg noodles on top of the mash potatoes and gravy? It's so good.

My favorite use for turkey leftovers is turkey and noodles served over mashed potatoes.  I think it must be a midwestern thing.  Both Dave and I are from Indiana and grew up eating this.  When we moved south people were appalled that we would eat it.  It’s my definition of comfort food.  Unlike my mom, I don’t make my own noodles, I buy Reames frozen ones.

  7. When you use your card to enter Coastal Kitchen for breakfast the person at the podium will ask your cabin number.  You give the suite number and they see it has 2 people and there’s 2 people standing there.  They don’t ask to see the cards.  You are shown to a table.  There is no issue unless the child with the suite card tries to go to CK for breakfast.  As long as you are swapping and not adding, nobody cares.

    Compensation

While your clients still get to enjoy their day onboard Anthem of the Seas, to help make up for the missed port, we will provide you with a one-day (1) cruise fare refund in the form of an Onboard Credit. This will automatically be added to your SeaPass account on boarding day. Any unused portion will be refunded to your credit card associated with your onboard folio.

For more context, one of the ship's four engines requires maintenance which impacts our speed. While this impacts our ability to deliver on the original itinerary, we're confident that it will still be an exceptional cruise vacation.

I would be quite satisfied with this.  We have missed ports in the past and gotten a refund of port charges or nothing.

Thanks to all who helped with the movie selections. I went a different direction…

I just signed up for Britbox.com and am binging a show called Shetland. It about a small town as Scottish detective.

    Very interesting story so far.

We love that show.  Only problem is sometimes I can’t quite understand their accent.

That will be so helpful. Do you happen to remember how easy/hard it was to get to the Beach Club? Like in terms of shuttle, walking, etc?

We joined friends at their cabana last July.  It was quite nice.  I do remember that the bathroom was at the end of the walkway.  If walking is an issue, you may want to consider this.
