  1. One of the best decisions I ever made was to take my first cruise. It was on the Celebration out of New Orleans in September 1997, a 7 day western Caribbean cruise. On that cruise I met a beautiful lady from east Texas. We stayed in touch and exactly two years later we returned to the Celebration and got married aboard ship. Well the Celebration is gone now and sadly, so is my wife. She passed several years ago but those 14 years we were together were the best of my life.

  2. I'm sailing on the Carnival Liberty on 9/14, also going to Nassau. I'm extremely nervous about rough seas from Hurricane Jose. I've never cruised this close to a storm. Does anyone know what I can expect as far as waves or how much the boat will rock?

I've been in conditions that approach those of a hurricane. 50- 70 kt winds and 15-20 ft seas. If I remember correctly, it was on the Elation, a fairly small ship. There was almost no roll but there was a lot of pitch. It was very bumpy, like driving on a road with lots and lots of pot holes. When the ship slammed into an oncoming wave the whole ship shuddered. Very few people got sick. The wind speed and wave height were constantly being updated on the TV navigation screen. I thought it was fun, my wife did not.

  3. I would like to do the 2019 WC, and I have followed the current WC blogs and posts. However, many of the comments and posts seem somewhat "clubby", for lack of a better word; everyone seems to know everyone else from prior WCs.

On other long cruises as a solo, I have had no trouble meeting people and establishing casual friendships, but I am not a "joiner" (ie book clubs or trivia). I would appreciate hearing from other WC new comers and solos about their WC experiences.

Just returned from WC17, my first world cruise. There were about 200 solo cruisers aboard. Some for the entire voyage, some for a segment. Yes, a lot of people knew each other from previous world cruises but I wouldn't say it was 'clubby'. There were solo get-togethers. My bridge partner, a solo lady, met someone to spend some time with. If you want to meet someone, you can. On tour, at a lounge, in the gym etc. Lots of places and lots of circumstances.

  4. :(

Going to be doing a T/A on the K-dam in October. We will begin the T/A portion on Nov 1st. I am curious to hear bad weather stories about crossing the Atlantic during hurricane seasons. Want to be ready for any contingencies. :(:(

Have been on 2 T/A's both west bound and both in Oct/Nov. Calm seas entire crossing on both.

Hope you have a pleasant voyage, I am sure you will enjoy it.

  5. It's been a while since I have checked in or posted on this board. Sorry to hear that JR has passed. He was a fine and upright person and helped many cruisers and pin collectors with their wants. RIP JR.

I still collect pins and need 2 funnel pins to complete the set. Single word Fascination and Festival without dates or Carnival. If anyone can help me out (sell or trade) I would be very appreciative.

I have lots of pins to trade. If you need something, let me know VIA this board or eMail.

URL to pin pictures didn't work but the links to most of my Carnival pins are OK.

  8. We are sailing to Hawaii on the Golden Princess in April, 2013. This will be our 4th cruise and we look forward to each one. Thus my question to pose to the readers. Does cruising ever become ho hum, old hat, yawn?

With 30 cruises under my belt I don't get off the ship anymore in places like Cozumel but I still enjoy each and every every cruise and the cruzing lifestyle as much as the first.

  9. Are you suppose to get a pin everytime you cruise. I've never gotten one. I've been on the Fantacy, sensation , dream and getting ready to go on the elation the 25 of this month.

No. You will get your first pin when you get to the gold level. 25 days.

  10. Are there any Magic pins available yet?

Yes and no. .. Yes there are Magic pins. One is for sale on eBay right now.

No.....Unfortunately, it is probablly not a pin given out by Carnival and may be counterfeit.

  11. Hi Group

I appreciate everyone looking for a Destiny pin for me. I have the

Carnival Destiny pin, but I have lost my plain Destiny pin. That is the

    one I need.

    JR

JR, are you sure you had a plain DESTINY pin w/o Carnival?

To my knowledge only the CARNIVAL DESTINY type exists.

  12. Hey all, looking for a Freedom and a Magic pin. Anyone have any extras of either of these? Now that I'm thinking about it, did Carnival even make a Magic pin? TIA :)

No. But there are Magic pins available on eBay. These pins are slightly different than the pins given out by Carnival.

  13. Hello i have several festivale pins i am willing to trade for one of the following either jubilee holiday celebration paradise or tropicale either reply on here or email me at Tylerknierim@yahoo.com thanks

Tyler, I really doubt you have a Festivale pin. Prove me wrong. Send me one, you have my address, I will send you a Jubilee, Tropical and Celebration.

WHILE YOU'RE AT IT YOU CAN ALSO SEND ME THE PIN YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SEND ME SEVERAL MONTHS AGO IN TRADE FOR THE TWO PINS I SENT YOU.

  14. Hmmmmm, I love warm chocolate melting cake too. It's one of my favorite things on Carnival. Hear that Cahill!! Don't do away with it like you've done with a lot of the things that used to good about Carnival. But that's not the point of my post.

I have an extra Carnival Platinum pin, (same as my avatar above), and if a regular board poster needs one, let me know. Prefer to trade. Need: Fascination w/o Carnival, Inspiration 2000 & 2001, Imagination 2001, Tropical 2001 and of course like most of us I need Festivale. If you have a Festivale and want to sell it. Name your price, I'll listen.

  15. I heard about the days rather than sailings. I am 3 sailings away from Milestone now but with that 200+ sail dates taking over, I will be Plat forever as I only have 158 days now. 4 levels rather than 3.

Hope they do get the ship specific pins back as there are lots of collectors. Even if selling them in the gift store.

    R

I assume you are close to 25 cruises. I have about same number and 167 days. So we are in the same boat. LOL

Additional comment about Freddie pin. It is a lot bigger than the funnel pins. Measures 1 3/4" high, 1 3/8" wide
