Flickr is making you do that?  That's really strange.  I doubt most of the other folks on this thread have accounts.  Maybe try to view on another device?  I just checked my permissions and the albums should be open to anyone...

I have an account but hadn't logged in in years! Had no problem viewing them. I only had to log in when I wanted to leave a comment.

    you're very welcome.

Hope your part of Lancaster survived the storms and tornados the last couple of nights.

I fared well, 20 min away, not so much. My son got hail and I barely got a storm!

    Thanks for the good thoughts!

We'll also be in Bermuda the same week and have booked the catamaran for Friday morning.  We're just going for the ride - not so much for the snorkeling.  this is a picture I took on Rising Son in 2009 that shows benches along the side, so you don't have to sit on the trampoline.    It can get bouncy when they're under sail, but it is so much fun.  Your SIL will have to decide if the benches will be comfortable/supportive enough for her.

Thank you for the photo. That's very helpful!

We will be in Bermuda in August.  There will be 5 of us, 2 who are Senior Citizens.  We saw some of the prices for excursions on the Grandeur.  To be frank, it was outside of our budget.  We think $100 is too much.  We are not the adventurous type.  Not that interested in Beaches, Caves...we like museums, bus tours, etc.  Any ideas for broke and lazy people?

Hamilton has the delightful National Gallery that my husband and I really enjoyed. If walking isn't an issue, I really liked the National Museum of Bermuda (adults $15, Seniors $12, under 16 free) right near the dockyard - there's a house you can tour on the grounds and some really great views. Just google "cheap or free things to do in Bermuda" and you'll have a list! Have fun!

I also met a woman who lost her husband a year earlier and she was on the cruise by herself.   We made her part of our 8pm after dinner get together which some times lasted till midnight-1am  but she had a good time not being  by herself and i would see her the next morning with her book by the pool getting some sun.

As a fairly new widow, thank you for looking out for a widow sister. That was very kind of you.

I am looking for the best place to be for sail away when I leave from Manhattan on the Escape in September.  I have read that the best place to be is forward and to get there early.  I was thinking about Spice H20 but someone mentioned that's not the best place to be.  I have a balcony cabin on the starboard side.  Would I miss everything if I stay there?  The other couple traveling with us has an aft balcony on Deck 14.  I am thinking maybe that would be the optimal location to see everything.  We sail away at 4 pm I believe.  I am interested in taking photographs of the Statue of Liberty, the skyline and the bridge.   I am a compulsive planner so any insight will be beneficial.

We're on the Escape Sept 1! Planning on being on the sun deck on deck 20 (it's small so I hope not too crowded!).

    Have fun!

  7. We're heading to Bermuda on 9/1 and would like to take a snorkel or sunset catamaran cruise but my sister-in-law has back issues and is concerned about having to sit on the trampoline (? Is that what it's called?) with her back bothering her. Are there other places to sit on the boat and are they comfortable for someone with back issues???

    TIA!

There was a lot of availability. 9 Haven Spa Suites, 8 Haven Forward Facing, and 15 Haven Courtyard Penthouse. There is still availability so there is still hope for anyone with bids in. Last July we won an upgrade from spa mini suite to Haven Spa Suite the week of. At that time there were 5 rooms left in that category.

Maybe this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer...how do you know what's still available and what's not? Especially since you know exact numbers here. Hoping to get the opportunity to upgrade for our 9/1 sailing.

    TIA

If I drink one Old Fashion at home I have a buzz, but I had 3 in an hour on the Escape and did not even feel like I had had a drink. I watched them make the drinks and pour the alcohol straight from the bottle so the only thing I can think is maybe because I eat so much on the cruise that my stomach is always full so the alcohol cannot do its job! I guess next cruise I will eat less.

That most definitely is the reason.

  10. You can always take a taxi. Check the bus routes - I think the pink bus goes there, but I'm not positive. I know when we went we definitely did not walk and we didn't take a taxi so it must have been the pink bus. (11 years ago, that's why I say check the bus routes!).

Have fun - we loved Fort St Catherine!

  11. My go-to summertime drink is a gin and tonic but moving up fast in the line-up is a tequila gimlet! I am happy to drink them all day long!
Can't wait for my Sept cruise (first time with the UBP!).

    Cheers!

I just called to ask about buying an upgrade after I saw a big price drop for my cruise. I am looking at their website where 15 spa balconies show as available, and the NCL rep could not find one B9 or M9 open. He suggested that either they are blocking them all for bids or holding them for a group. I'm going to try again tomorrow just in case it is a system glitch.

Interesting...at least I know I'm not losing it!
