  1. I have learned two things about this situation - one is to never deal with a TA again and the second is to only pay by Credit Card!!! I did the worst of both.I paid a TA by Bank Transfer - direct to their account - and in Australia 😞
  2. My cruise was cancelled by Cunard by email on 19 Feb - with promise of a full refund. I have not heard a single thing from them since!! Without this forum, I would have known nothing about how to apply for a refund or even that I had to.
  3. 60days?????? My question remains - 60 days from when??? 60 days from the date of the email Cunard sent me on 19 February cancelling my 38 day 06 May Yokohama to Alaska or 60 days after they implemented a web based "application for refund" form a couple of months later - or 60 days after the cruise was meant to start on 06 May - or 60 days after the cruise was meant to finish on 12 June . ????
  4. The WHO has already implied that "perhaps" this virus will become endemic - as are many other viruses/diseases that humans are subject to. It has taken a long time to "defeat' polio, smallpox, etc and other conditions like influenza and conditions caused by the obesity epidemic will take us out. Just for a bit of perspective - if nothing else " We can't do much about our own Government - but we can control our own paranoia if we apply a bit of perspective to our situation. In 2018, 30860 deaths were registered in Qld. In 2019, 5 people PER WEEK died from Influenza during the flu season. So far this year, 71 people have died on Qld roads!-- and a total of 6 people have had their deaths "attributed" to coronavirus since Jan 1 this year . So make sure you wash your hands and stay away from sick people - the flu season is upon us now and the impatient morons who want to get to where they are going by yesterday have returned to our roads in force!!!!! Personally at age 73, I have little fear of contracting coronavirus." Or , on the other hand - A MONSTER IS ATTACKING OUR VILLAGE. TO DEFEAT THE MONSTER , WE MUST DESTROY THE VILLAGE!!!
  5. The Germans were/are nice people too - but the NAZIS led them by the short and curlies to the end. It only takes the good people to do nothing and succumb to their fear.!!!!!

  7. Interesting article here re overseas travel https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/health-safety/overseas-travel-wont-return-until-2023-due-to-coronavirus-experts-warn/news-story/3f45963b038f09ce54fc5fa0b325b073
  8. Read the latest article on CC about why it is taking so long. It states there that "normally" if you want a refund for a cancellation then you have to tell that to the cruiseline!!!!! WAAY back in February for me ( and probably also March for you), Cunard cancelled my cruise by email but failed to mention anything about timing or process to get the promised "full refund". It has only been recently that they have introduced a web based application process - plus also my TA has suddenly appeared only a couple of weeks before the original departure date ( but months after the cancellation) to say they they have now notified Cunard that my cruise is to be cancelled and refund given. I think we are victims of a "routine process" that has failed during this extraordinary time. 🙂
  9. There is no future for cruising for the next few years!!! People have LONG memories!!!
  10. Kind of interesting - my "first" cancelled Cunard cruise wasn't even supposed to depart until 06 May (only last week ) - BUT it was cancelled by Cunard (not me) on 19 February. W -A -A -Y back then, there was no "60 days" - nor "click here on this website link to apply for a refund." No - there was just an email to say that the cruise was cancelled and we would receive a refund. Foolish me-- it didn't say exactly when the refund would happen , but on the basis of that promise , I booked a couple more Cunard cruises 😞 These have now also been cancelled by Cunard and they are now communicating "60 days" . It's all a shambles really - none of us knew what was going to happen. But I can't say that I have any confidence in Cunard anymore. They are still trying to sell cruises today!!!! - I would have thought that the suckers would have woken up to them by now - so many anguished cries of "Do you think that my January cruise will go ahead" and " Cunard is asking me for a final payment for my XXXX cruise, should I pay it?. Pathetic madness everywhere.
  11. Please stop quoting "60 days" - until you can answer the question - 60 days from when!!!!
  12. I am wondering if the lack of refunds in Australia has something to do with our Laws??? My very limited understanding is that there used to be some kind of Govt Fund or Govt laws regarding travel agents folding, but that is now all gone??? "Laws" can be used in two ways - for you and against you!!!!
  13. I had heard nothing from my TA regarding 3 Cunard cruises - the first departure 06 May was cancelled in mid February , the second departure 09 May cancelled only recently and the third departure 02 Jun also cancelled only recently - until this week when I finally received "official" notification from the TA that all three cruises (with official cruise numbers) had been cancelled and they were sending an application for refund to Cunard for all of them. Some of the wording on their website about Covid19 cancellations and also in the email that I got from them has led me to believe that they have a "standard procedure" dealing with applications for cancellation of a cruise and subsequent refund - and they were simply following this procedure as though nothing else extraordinary had happened. However their Terms and Conditions on their website only outline what is to happen if the Customer cancels the cruise - doesn't say much about when the TA or a cruiseline cancels a cruise. This drama REALLY has taught me a few things!!!!!
  14. For a start, I just want to see the Border between NSW and Qld opened. That would do me for some time - then maybe the 50Klm car drive increased further.
  15. For all AUSSIES here - I have finally received official notification from my TA they they have processed cancellation requests to Cunard for my 3 cruises - all by official cruise number. Now the first of these was cancelled by Cunard over two months ago - and the TA full well knew that. But I am convinced that they have a regular "routine" of how to cancel cruises and that involves notifying the cruiseline 2 weeks before the cruise departure.
  16. I suspect that this process is similar to their refund process. Everybody has assumed that Cunards promise of 60 day wait is 60 days from cancellation request?? I suspect ( and so far have not been proved wrong) that the 60 days will be from original departure date of the cruise- and even possibly 60 days from the return date
  17. Oh yes - and many businesses have continued to sell their product and take their customers money knowing full well that they will be going into Receivership tomorrow.!!!!
  18. Ha!! I have seen posts like this - but am thinking that all they have received from Cunard is a "promise" , no actual cash!!! The only people who sees to have had some refunds have been those who paid direct to Cunard by Credit Card.?
  19. Icecream is good - but too much Icecream is not good!!!! Business competition is good - but too much Business competition is also not good!!!!
  20. YES!! - but NOW while you still can!!!!
  21. Private vs Public?? I used to work in a publicly owned dockyard in Sydney (commonly known as Garden Island - the white collar workers were all (unsackable) Public Servants and the blue Collar workers were all Unionists (of the likes of the Waterside Workers Federation, the Painters and Dockers Union and others) . Hard call that one - Public or Private????
  22. I am 36K in the nick from coronavirus - just from cruise, air and hotel . Thank God I dont have any money in the "Stock Exchange" Casino!
  23. Things are good here in SE Qld - we have had about 6-7 people die across the entire State from coronavirus ( but I suspect they really died from something else, noting that a 93yo and a 94yo died in an old folks home from "coronavirus" in NSW this week!) - in the meantime this year, over 50 have died on the roads in Qld. Not sure how many have died from heart problems, cancer, etc.
