  1. Is Celebrity phasing out Acapella because they think it does not appeal to the younger generation?

I'm one of the younger generation and I appreciate quality singing, in the UK right now the Puppinni sisters are really big with the 20/30 somethings. They are like the modern day Andrews sisters. So maybe X just needs to funk em up a bit!

Hey, here's an idea: a Silent Disco! Then youngsters can listen to their Gangsta rap, baby boomers can air guitar to Dad Rock, and us Abba lovers can dance to our hearts content.

They're obviously not paying attention to the ratings of The Sing-Off then. Nor are they paying attention to ages of those performing on the show. (Most of the groups are in their 30's or younger.)

The show is the highest rated show for its time slot for those between 18-49....

So, yeah, I think there are a few people in the younger generation out there who enjoy Acapella. :)

  2. My travel agent has informed me she travels with her under 16 year old children all the time on closed loop cruises and that no adult nor child need a passport only an original birth certificate and a picture ID (for adults) - Birth certificate for children only. The ship is going to key west and Cozumel but back and forth from ft. Lauderdale.

While that is probably true, why chance it?

People have suggested getting her a passport. It's truly the ONLY 100% guaranteed thing she'll need.

If you feel your TA is giving you good info and you have reason to trust her, then I wouldn't worry. However, when you return, getting her a passport might be the best thing to do then.

  3. Day 3 of not being able to access our (ours and my parents) reservations. Tried IE and my husband's laptop too, just in case. Still get a message about "Maintenance" and "please try again later". Frustrating! Lots of to do lists with Christmas coming. Online check-in, printing docs and ordering luggage tags were supposed to be crossed off.......

Sorry to vent, but feeling a little annoyed : ) Okay, maybe a lot annoyed ; )

For IE, clear the cache and cookies and that might help.

  4. I think there aren't as many posts on her because she sails mainly in europe and south america now, and most posters on cruisecritic are from north america. Also, she's Millenium class, and most posts nowadays are on the solstice class ships. More people, and more questions on solstice.

We were on Infinity last summer and it was wonderful. Food was great. Shows were great. The cabin was beautiful.

I think its placement has more to do with it than the type of ship. I only say that because I see a lot of Summit posts.

  5. I suppose that I should be happy to hear from Celebrity at all no matter what the content of their message given all the website problems and all of the Captain's Club transition problems that have recently surfaced.

Still, I had to laugh when I opened the following message which arrived just after 3:30 this morning:

    Dear Kathleen,

The irony of this is that we have been cruising with Celebrity for the last seven years, have been Captains Club members since right after the first cruise and have two cruises booked with them currently. The other problem is that I AM NOT A KATHLEEN.

Always nice to experience that personal touch. For those whose cruise credits are screwed up not to worry. You're still in the minor leagues. I just got a sex change operation from =X=!!!!

Everyone have a great morning out there.

    :D:):D

    Lighten up, Francis.

    :p

  6. While doable for the passengers, I'd be truly surprised if the baggage handlers could off-load, sort and reload their luggage in that amount of time. Other routings or other connections at SFO would still be my choice.

I'm sure they could. I got the info from United's website. They're the one setting it all up, so I would suspect that they have a way to make sure the bags make it. ;)

  7. I am glad that I have found this thread!

Sailing on Dec 29 and try to check-in, book packages etc without any success since nearly two weeks.

Have called Celebrity hotline in Germany and they told me they have trouble with the site since beginning of the week.

Have tried Mozilla and I.E. , cleared cache etc. with no success at all....

Any suggestions what I should do if I will not be able to print my luggage tags and check-in in advance?

    This situation is disgusting!

You may want to try Chrome as well, just in case.

All I can say is I had no problems with doing early check-in over the weekend. I have not tried printing luggage tags yet though.

  8. Being the curious sort, I checked United's website. :) If I picked correctly, she now has 37 minutes and not 36 between flights.

Anyway, I checked to get flight numbers so I could see which gates these flights usually go to. I was also able to see their flight arrival times for today.

The flight from Vancouver was 8 minutes early today and arrived in Terminal 3 at gate 89. The flight out was at gate 73. VERY doable to get there in time, assuming you're off the plane ASAP. It's tight though.

If it was me, in order to avoid potential snowy cities, I would take the flight that goes through Houston. It gives her an hour+ between flights.

    Just my 2¢.

  9. The only football experience I had on Summit was Super Bowl this past February. The ship was a ghost ship because mostly everyone was in the theater or Michael's Club or wherever else they were showing the game.

I would guess during the playoffs they'll have the games on where they have TVs in the bars.

  10. Back in 2006, someone had posted about how terrible their cruise had been. The awful service, the terrible food, the bad weather, so on and so forth. A few postings down the line I realized they were discussing the Alaskan cruise I had been on. The cruise they were describing didn't come close to the cruise I experienced with the exception of bad weather 1½ of the 7 days of the cruise. We had rainy weather for the 1 sea day and half a day of rain in Skagway.

Anyway, I just thought his person was nuts, but then I realized that everyone has their own perceptions of what a cruise should be like. The rain in Skagway didn't bother me or my wife, despite being on a walking tour that morning. We just brought an umbrella and enjoyed ourselves. We never had any problems with the service or food or anything on board, but we also were not looking for any problems either.

Be that as it may, the OP may have had a horrible experience, but that does not mean everyone did. Their expectations were such that they felt that they were not met. But I look at this way: In most cases, your worst day at sea is still better than your best day at work.
