  1. I haven't cruised on Princess since January of 2015. What is the new policy for bringing bottled water and soda?

they now sell a case of water pre-cruise - around $6. I ordered one - its a lot easier as we fly in.

The package is $6.90 for 12 (500ml) bottles and it must be purchased online before the cruise.

It is a lot easier than hauling the water to the ship.

  2. Make sure you bring ear plugs on the cruise with you. I have been on two different 14 day cruises on the Royal in the past two years and the shows in the Princess theater as well as entertainment in the Piazza are beyond loud. I have not experienced this sound level on other Princess ships.

  3. Yes. I've done it several times.

Thank you! It’s good to hear this from someone who has actually done this.

It’s hard for me to believe that Princess ever intended for OBC, given to passengers, to be cashed out. Although, I don’t know how they would separate the OBC they gave you and the OBC that you bought with your own money.

  4. OK, here’s a new twist to this question.

Can you use this cash out strategy by using any OBC at the slot machine? Everyone here talked about putting cash (pre-cruise) onto their OBC and then getting this money out as cash once on board. My question is can you use this cash out strategy by using OBC that was given to you by Princess? This would be OBC from a sales promotion, or from stock holder credit or something similar.

If yes, then has someone actually done this?

  5. I drink lots of water and I am wondering where I can fill up on the ship?

I assume the Horizon court has water containers and the International Café and the gym..........

Is there places out by the pools to fill up??

    Thanks!

Princess now sells cases of water for six dollars delivered to your cabin. It is located in the beverages section. Hopes this helps.

If you want to purchase the Princess water package you must purchase online before the cruise.

On the cruise Personalizer go to “Onboard Reservations”/”Beverage Packages”/”Bottled Water Package”

The package consists of 12 (500 ml) bottles for $6.90. You can specify how many packages you wish to purchase.

  6. A few years ago I tied to find this out for myself. I phoned and asked someone at Princess and they gave me a non-answer. They said something about it would be determined at the time of a claim. I have never used Princess Insurance, including Platinum protection, because of this. I have used other insurance such as Travel Guard.

  7. Does Princess have a email so you can confirm delivery of your fax

I haven’t seen an email address for confirming the arrival of your OBC FAX, but someone on CC earlier posted this phone number for checking on its arrival

    Tel 800 872 6779 ext. 30317

  8. I have not been on the Regal yet, but I have recently been on the Star Princess and the Royal Princess. The dining times and the show times were the same so I am assuming that the Regal might have the same times.

We had early traditional seating for dinner. The time stated on the Princess web site said 6:00 PM, but the actually time was 5:30 PM. This worked out well. We finished the meal at about 7:00 PM to 7:10 PM. We then rushed to the other end of the ship for the show, getting there about 7:15 PM for the 7:45 PM show. We would usually get a good seat at this time, but by waiting another 10 minutes the theater would fill up fast.

I think the later shows were at 9:30 PM. Late seating for dinner was 8:15 PM and didn’t work well for the show times.

NO Video photography is allowed. Still photography with NO FLASH is allowed. Be respectful of the other people in the show. Don’t be obtrusive when taking pictures and don’t use a cell phone or tablet for the pictures. These shine light and is very disruptive to others.

  9. I don’t have a definitive answer for you, but from looking at pictures of the Royal I have a guess about the “Part Obstructed” view.

To me it looks like the one cabin next to yours, and forward, has an obstructed view. Yours looks like it has an unobstructed view looking straight out and to the aft. I am guessing that the obstruction for your neighboring cabin will impact your view when trying to look somewhat forward. Again this is just an educated guess by looking at pictures of the Royal.

  10. Since it's the same amount of water it probably depends on their available inventory to determine whether it's (8) 1.5 liter bottles or (24) 0.5 liter bottles.

They now offer (12) 0.5 liter bottles to preorder & including tip it's less than $7. That may result in having more 0.5 liter bottles instead of 1.5 liter bottles.

I think you misread what I said. If the minibar trade for water states that you get (8) 1.5 liter bottles then it’s the same as (24) 0.5 liter bottles of water. But, they did NOT give that to me. They would only give me (18) 0.5 liter bottles. That is (6) bottles or 3 liters short of the amount of water they said they would give. I don’t know if they didn’t know the rules or they couldn’t do the math for the conversion of 1.5 liter bottles to 0.5 liter bottles.

  11. Then what you did was to improperly write her up for following their clearly stated Princess minibar policy that we can exchange the "full" minibar for 2 coffee cards.

Question: What if I don't want any alcohol in my Elite mini-bar?

Answer: If you do not wish to have any alcohol in your mini-bar we will be happy to exchange your mini-bar for one of the following:

Alcoholic beverages may be exchanged for non-alcoholic beverages on a one-for-one basis

Full mini-bar may be exchanged for two (2) Coffee Cards

All water mini-bar setup will consist of eight (8) 1.5 liter bottles of water

    https://book.princess.com/captaincircle/contactUs.page#elite_mini-Bar

The Captain's Circle benefit's website has never stated we could split things to get 1 coffee card & I know of only one person who sailed solo & after a considerably amount of effort (pre cruise & during the cruise) Princess relented & gave him only 1 soda card with some non-alcoholic drinks.

On my last cruise, Star Princess 10/26/2016, I asked to exchange my minibar for all water. If the trade is supposed to be (8) 1.5 liter bottles it would be the same as (24) 0.5 liter bottles, but all they would give me was (18) 0.5 liter bottles. Have they changed things, or did this person not know the exchanges?

  12. I am just off of the Hawaii cruise on the Star. There were three formal nights. The last one came on the last sea day (the night before Ensenada). This night had Lobster, Pheasant, Beef Wellington and Escargot. I usually have the Lobster but this time I chose Beef Wellington. Not a good choice, I should have stuck to the Lobster.

  13. We will have $760 of OBC for our cruise in March 2018. The gratuities are pre-paid because the cruise was booked under the “3 for Free” promotion. If the OBC can only be used for onboard expenses I may try to book a couple of shore excursions when I first get on the ship. We will probably go to the Crowne Grill once. We don’t drink, so liquor purchases aren’t an answer. We are elite so we get free coffee cards in place of the minibar setup. I guess I could buy a watch or some jewelry in the shops. Anyone have any suggestions for ways to spend the OBC?

As for getting money from the casino; my understanding is that a separate onboard account has to be setup by placing money into it and then it can be withdrawn to get the cash on the cruise.

  14. Thanks for all of the responses. I leave tomorrow for a cruise on the Star Princess. We were Elite on our last 7 day cruise but didn’t send anything out to the laundry. This cruise is 15 days and the free laundry will come in handy.

  15. A while back I read on the boards that all laundry is cleaned with chemicals (like dry cleaning). Does anyone actually know if the standard laundry is cleaned in water and detergent or chemicals? I don’t want my laundry washed like dry cleaning. It’s actually hard for me that they would use chemicals for general laundry.

  16. Today I noticed two glitches in postings on the Roll Calls board.

    1) A new person posted to on roll call. It was apparently their first posting on CC, but at the top right corner it shows “Posts 0”

    2) A new person posted on a different roll call, but in the list of roll calls for that ship it doesn’t show them as the last person posting in the “Last Post” column. And yes, they are the last person posting right now. I had the post right before theirs and mine is listed as the last post.

I have never noticed a glitch in the boards before.

Right after posting this I noticed another one. In the posting “Sales Pitches on Every Forum” under Princess Cruises it showed the last post by “Host Jazzbeau”, but there has been an additional post since the Hosts post.
