  1. You were very lucky.........

It's best to ADD/MODIFY the flights and not cancel.

Doing this locks in the new flight before your old flight is canceled which happens automatically when you choose the new flight.

Thank you for the tip. I will try this in the future.

I'm always learning something new on Cruise Critic. :)

  2. When I use EZair and the price drops, I never call Princess for them to make the changes. I just go onto my booking and find my flights. There is a “Cancel” button that I select. Right after cancelling the flights I quickly rebook the new flights. I use Delta, so I can go onto their web site and reselect my seats. As soon as I cancelled the flights, Delta released the seats, which allows me to rebook the same seats.

  3. My experience with EZair:

I used EZair for my last cruise and I am using it for an upcoming cruise this coming March. Both cruises are from Minneapolis and going to Ft. Lauderdale for Caribbean cruises. The only flights that fly nonstop are on Delta. I found the EZair price to be very close to the Delta prices.

Now for the EZair advantage: When booking with Delta you are stuck with what you booked, unless you pay a large fee to change. I track the prices from day one. (This is the first day that Delta has flights for my trip). This year I booked a flight the first available day. The second day the price dropped, so I cancelled and rebooked at the lower price. The third and fourth days the price climbed higher. On the fifth day the price dropped a lot. I cancelled and rebooked again. Remember there were no charges for cancelling and rebooking. The prices have headed up and up ever since.

The current price for my flight is $778 per person, round trip. The price I got back on day five was $412 per person, round trip. If I couldn’t have cancelled and rebooked with no penalty, I probably wouldn’t have booked when I did.

EZ air is working great for me.

  4. What is the Roll Call?

The Roll Call is a place to talk to people on your cruise. You can plan get together meetings. On Princess they are called Meet & Greets or (M&G’s). You can talk about anything from tours or what pre-cruise hotels you are staying at. Each roll call is different. Some have lots of participants and lots of topics and some are small and not very well attended.

Go back to the second post and you will find a link to the last page of your roll call. Make sure you go to the beginning and read all of the posts. You may find this very helpful and fun.

  5. I am on the March 18, 2018 sailing. I have not been notified, by Princess yet, that there were changes made to the itinerary, but read about them on Cruise Critic. I did find the new itinerary on the Princess web site under my booking. It is in the Calendar & Planning menu.

  6. I have been keeping the Roll Call List for our cruise in March 2018. I have found that most people who have wondered onto Cruise Critic and clicked on the “I’m going on this cruise” button don’t know what is happening and don’t realize that there is a Roll Call to join.

So, like “paul929207”, if they don’t come back on and introduce themselves, I don’t add them to the Roll Call List.

I have never clicked on the button myself, so I don’t know what sort of response the “Clicker” gets. I’m wondering if they know that a message was sent somewhere.

  7. Your SkyMiles account gets flagged for Amex benefits if you have Amex card. So it does not matter at all who/how airfare was booked, as long as your SkyMiles number is attached, you will get all benefits.

What you did miss out is extra miles, even if you paid for flight with Amex.

On my last cruise (Feb 2017) I booked Delta flights through Princess EZ Air and paid at final payment with a credit card other than the Delta card which gives me free checked bags. As “Meanee” stated, we still got the free checked bags because our Skymiles numbers are connected to the Amex Delta card.

  8. I was on the Royal Princess three months ago. We went to the Crown Grill twice and had no problem ordering more of any items. I always ordered a steak and a lobster tail from the beginning. The waiter brought more lobster tails later in the dinner.

As for charging for second helpings: I remember reading somewhere that one of the new seafood restaurants on the Caribbean Princess, after dry dock, charged extra for lobster.

The MDR does have lobster tails as a menu choice on one of the formal nights.

I can’t account for changes that may have happened in the past three months.

  9. The OP didn’t explain this situation very well. This is why everyone is trying to explain different scenarios.

Did they have two different booking numbers? Before final payment could they go onto the cruise personalizer and see their cruises?

There is too much information missing.

  10. Does stock owners OBC combine with OBC from other offers?

Does the OBC show up on your cruise personalizer or do you have to wait to get on the ship to see if it is there? Thanks!

Stock holder OBC does combine with other OBC. On my last cruise I had $700 of OBC which included the Stock holder credit.

Yes, It does show up on your cruise personalizer.

  11. A few years ago I called Princess to inquire about their insurance policy on pre-existing conditions. They were very evasive with their answer and it came down to “They will decide at the time you submit a claim”. I felt I couldn’t trust such an answer so I never used Princess Insurance.

  12. Thanks all for input. Yes, she needs to get it quickly. I believe you can name the company.

Travel Guard has plans that offer pre-existing coverage at no additional charge, but you need to purchase the insurance within 15 days of INITIAL trip deposit.

My company is also Travel Guard.

I have never needed to make a claim, but my TA says that they are very reputable and the company she recommends.

  13. I don’t know if I am able to use the name of my insurance company on CC, but I do have a comment about getting independent insurance for covering pre-existing conditions. All companies that I know of require you to sign up for the insurance within a short time from paying your initial cruise deposit. My company requires me to take out the insurance within 15 days from paying the deposit to get the pre-existing coverage.

  14. This is later than I wanted to post, but will hopefully still help anyone searching for a similar trip.

    Crown Grill:

A dinner at CG was part of a promotion when we booked. We were both happy with our steaks. I mentioned in a different thread that we were told we couldn't order lobster tails to go with our steaks, and that we were disappointed about that - but the people at the table next to us were incensed, and declared they'd never return. Someone posted after me that they were able to order lobster on their cruise in January, so clearly my waiter was mistaken. *roll eyes* Point is - your mileage may vary. We were told it was a new corporate policy. If you can order lobster with your steak, more power to you! I ordered a bottle of wine at the CG and was able to access it on subsequent nights in various dining rooms. I love that you can do that on Princess.

    . . .

Just want to make a comment about what you said about not getting to order lobster with your steak in the Crown Grill. As you mentioned, it may have been the waiter who made that rule.

I was on the Star Princess October 26, 2016 sailing to Hawaii and also the Regal Princess Feb 19 and Feb 26 in the Caribbean. We went to the Crown Grill once on the Star and twice on the Regal. For every meal I ordered a steak and lobster tail. Not only did I receive lobster with my steak, but they kept bringing out more lobster for me.

I would be surprised if Princess made the rule about no lobster with your steak.
