  1. I am booked on Delta for my upcoming Christmas cruise. I used EZ Air as I have for the past two years.

On July 28th Delta discontinued my 7:00 am flight, going to the cruise a day early, and put us on the only other flight which is at 10:00 am. This is a smaller plane and it is now almost 100% full. We are shown as “Confirmed” on the Delta website. My concern is that since Princess doesn’t charge us until final payment and since the flight is almost full but it is still open for sales could they bump us because they haven’t been paid.

I have read about prepaying the EZ Air payment by others on the Princess boards. I have a TA but I did signed up for the air myself on the Princess web site. Do I need to have my TA do the prepaying or can I call Princes myself to take care of this? I should add that I booked a long time ago for a very good low price and the current price is more than double.

Also, one of you might have a suggestion for something I haven’t thought of.

    Any help is appreciated.

  2. I have read in the past that Princess stopped going out of San Juan because they couldn’t fill the cruises because the air fare prices were too high. I just went online to check the prices for the same sailing dates as my upcoming December cruise and found a direct flight to San Juan was over $1900 per person.

I wouldn’t book a cruise with air fares that high.

  3. It has been my experience that you need not purchase your ezair ticket with your Delta gold card to get your free bag. Our last cruise ended in December and we paid for the entire cruise with our Princess Visa which included ezair flights. We went home from Orlando too instead of Fort Lauderdale so we could visit family.

Delta will know you have the AMEX card when you add your frequent flyer number to your booking. We usually still get pre-check too as long as we are booked and don't make changes too close to departure time.

When did Delta stop the free bag going overseas? We had a business class ticket for our return from England after a transatlantic that we didn't take in April due to a move over offer we couldn't refuse. That flight included 2 free bags so I wasn't concerned at that time.

Yoyosma is correct. I have used EZair twice (flying on Delta) and did no pay with my Delta credit card. Your Frequent Flyer number is connected to your Delta card and as long as you entered your Frequent Flyer number when you booked the EZair, you are set.

  4. Here is a trick that my wife came up with on a cruise once. To get real eggs and have them scrambled instead of the bulk eggs that are made from either powdered or liquid eggs. She would carefully make her order as “Two eggs and have them scrambled”. This worked in the dining room. She never tried this at the buffet.

  5. This loyalty credit is new to me! We just went on our 20th Princess cruise this past March and we didn’t receive any Loyalty credit for the cruise. We are going on our 21st Princess cruise this coming December. It will be interesting to see if they come through with it this time.

  6. In the past I have found that by booking the two B2B cruises as one cruise the total price has been a little less. So by booking the B2B’s as one cruise you save twice; first with the lower fare and second more OBC if you qualify for “Share Holder Credit” or “Military Credit”.

  7. I live in Minnesota so I love to go to the Caribbean in the winter for a little sun and warmth. I am booked for my 31st cruise and all but one have been in the Caribbean. Sometimes they have been on the same ship and the itineraries change a little but I have been to the same islands many times. Sometimes I’ll do different things on a particular island and sometimes I go back to a place I love. One example is on Barbados I love the Flower Forest and the Bathsheba area.

  8. I have been on NCL twice. The first time was in 1996 and I was not impressed with any of the cruise. The second and last time was in 2008 on the NCL Sun. The price was right and I thought I’d give them another try. The food in the dining room was so bad that we tried to find food elsewhere. One time we went to their steak house and the food was very good. This was the only good meal we found in the entire week. One night, in a bar, we had Chicken Fingers for dinner. That was the entire meal. I hope the food has improved.

Entertainment: Most of the nights the entertainment was very mediocre, two nights the entertainment was First Class. That did surprise me.

I hope you have a good time on the cruise and can come back on here and inform us of the good time.

  9. When getting off the elevators on the Coral Princess, I was always confused which way I was supposed to turn to get to the starboard side. My steward showed me a great tip I'd never noticed. Look at the carpet in each hall. They are not the same. We were on the orange side. Easy Peasy!

For most Princess ships when you get off of the elevators the bank of elevators are facing forward. In this cast you would always turn to the right to get to get to the Starboard hallway. The Panoramic Lifts are opposite from this so you would turn left when exiting. Now the Coral Princess is one exception where the mid-ship elevators face to the stern just like the Panoramic Lifts. When I’m on a Princess ship I visualize the floor plan in my head and I have no trouble in getting places. My wife on the other hand has to think about which way to turn every time we get off of an elevator.

  10. It depends on the vendor. Some places will be open, some not.

Your best bet is to contact the vendor or look their website up on the internet.

I don’t have any particular venders in mind. It’s just that the Princess web site says (for St. Barthelemy) that the ship’s tender will drop us off right in town for independent sightseeing, shopping or dining in town. It sounds to me that this is just a canned statement and has no relevance for our cruise. This is why I have asked if anyone has been on this cruise and knows if shops and other places will be open on Christmas day.

  11. We will be going on the Pacific Princess for the 14 Day Caribbean Connoisseur cruise over Christmas and New Year’s.

We will be stopping at St. Barthelemy on Christmas day and Dominica on New Year’s Day. The online Princess tour information talks about shopping in St. Barthelemy and Plantation, Culinary and Botanical Garden tours in Dominica. Has anyone been on this cruise before and are these places actually open for business on these holidays?

  12. I am going on a cruise this coming December. This will be the third time I am using EZ-Air for my flights. The great thing about EZ-Air is that if the price goes down you can re-book at the new lower fare with no penalties. As someone has already stated, make sure you book Flexible fares.

For my current cruise I booked the air on the first day it was available. I knew it was expensive but I knew I could re-book if the price drops.

All of the following prices are on Delta and are non-stop per person:

Feb 13 (the first day EZ-Air was available) I booked for $678

Feb 14 the price dropped to $632 and I re-booked.

Feb 20 the price dropped and I re-booked for $598

    Apr 1 a new flight was added and I re-booked for $443

May 16 the price dropped again and I re-booked for $409.

The Delta prices go up and down like the stock market. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the price fluctuations. Usually these lowered prices are for only a day or sometimes a few hours.

Delta is the only airline that flies non-stop from Minneapolis to Fort Lauderdale, so it is the only airline I consider.

  13. Here is a quote from Princess for the latest 3 for Free sale.

I have booked two cruises through this sale. I have found these offers to be from approximately mid-August to mid-November. They are for cruises the following summer through the following spring.

  14. I had always bought cruise insurance through a non-cruise line insurance company. A few years ago I considered Princess insurance and talked to a Princess Representative. I asked about the coverage for a pre-existing condition and was told that it would be determined at the time a claim would be made. Are they kidding? You don’t make up rules as you go along. Needless to say I stayed with a non-cruise line insurance company.

  15. I’ve thought that the sound levels for entertainment have been increasing for some time now. On three cruises on the Royal and Regal the shows in the Princess theater have been so loud that I have been using ear plugs. After one loud evening show I went down to the atrium to see what was going on there. There was a band playing so loud that I couldn’t stand to stay and enjoy. There was a member of the cruise staff there and I tried to tell her that the sound level was too loud. She was pretty snotty about it and couldn’t understand me unless I YELLED very loud. She yelled back that it is not too loud.

On my last cruise a couple of months ago on the Caribbean Princess I took a sound meter with me. I measured parts of two shows in the Princess Theater. The sound level was very high. The average level was 94 dB with some sounds reaching 109 dB. Before retirement, at my work, if I was in an environment that was that loud I would be required to ware hearing protection.

I have asked others coming out of shows if they thought that the sound level was too high and almost all have said yes. I have complained to the cruise director once only to be rebuffed. No one else will complain. It’s getting more difficult to enjoy things on the ships with the sound levels increasing to these levels.

I hope someone from Princess is reading this because my upcoming cruise in December may very well be my last. AND YES THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE SOUND LEVEL EVERYWHERE. It’s not fun anymore.
