I think Princess have done the wrong thing with this Chinese theme. The Chinese are not interested in Cruising as we westerners are; all they want is gambling.
Sounds like Princess might not be getting as many bookings as expected from the Chinese. -
Do the Chines Cruise Ships, if there are any, have English together with Chinese on their signs?
Some of you may have already spotted this, but just in case...There is a Live from Thread running on the Princess board re the Majestic Princess
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2480969
It has lots of photos of the ship. Interesting to note that although its first cruises are in the Med , a lot of the signs are in Chinese

Why are they catering for the Chinese, don't they have enough of their own ships now.
There's still a bar attached to the Crown Grill it's just not called 'Wheelhouse.' For good reason, most asians may have a difficult time pronouncing it.Sent from my iPhone using Forums

They had better have a Platinum/Elite Lounge as the other ships have or I will have to go into the Captains Cabin for Happy Hours.
No Wheelhouse Bar!No Crooners!
The only bars on deck 7 are the Crown Grill & Bar, and (presumably) one in the Vista Gaming Lounge.
They will definitely have to make changes. Can you imagine 3500+ thirsty Australians without enough bars? There would be a mutiny on the first Australian voyage. ;p

Well here we go again. We have booked on the Majestic Princess for September 2018. Yes I know it's a long way to go but it will go fast I am sure.
Got a very price and will be trying out the Medallion Class, providing it is available. Have been told that it is available.
Leaving Sydney 15th September for 12 days to the South Pacific.

Hi all fellow Cruise Critic members,
Who has visited Japan? And who has visited Japan in the Cherry Blossom time?
Both wife and I want to do that and we are asking what is the best time of the year to go? Can you help?
-
Would you please post this as our future cruises:
March 22, 2018 to Japan - 15 days
April 12, 2018 to Fiji & South Pacific
Thank you
-
Anyone travelled to Japan recently?
If you have what was the time of year and were the cherry blossoms in bloom?
Also what airline did you travel with?
How this is not too many questions, but thinking of planning a cruise to Japan early 2018.
Thanks for any advice.
-
YES! just ask for what you want, within reason. I always have a scotch and the wife a gin & tonic.
-
Thanks for all the replies. Now which is the best time to go . . . April or later in the year.

Having just returned from a cruise to Tasmania and the South Island of New Zealand, both wife and I thought we would wait till early 2018 for our next cruise. We are Elite with Princess and will continue to use them again. we have never been on a cruise to Japan, been most other places, but we are now anxious to go to the Land of the Rising Sun and Cherry Blossoms. I believe that the Diamond Princess (which we have sailed on before with its Japanese Baths, etc.) is the about the only Princess ship that does these cruises. So I ask is it the only Princess ship sailing those waters and can anyone advise or help with ideas. Anything would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if there is the availability to have a haircut onboard the Emerald Princess for us mere males? I know there is lot to do about all the girls having their bodies prettied up but what about us poor men . . . we like to have a nice style cut sometimes and I cannot get one before sailing date.

Wondering what Share Restaurant is like on the Emerald Princess. Will be on the ship soon. Why is the restaurant called "Share"?
-
Have a great time Chez N Andy.
Will be on the Emerald on 2nd January. Look after her for us.
-
Would anyone know if a Pandora Shop is available on the Emerald Princess. DW would like to spend big in there.
-
Good Report. Will be cruising on the Emerald on the 2nd January and doing a B2B onto NZ. Same cabin has been allocated.
-
From what I hear and read IT IS STILL AVAILABLE. I am looking forward to going each night as I did on the Diamond. We are also Elite.
-
Will be doing a B2B cruise soon and I have never done one before, so I am asking a question as to whether I will have to get off the ship when it returns to the disembarkation port. My cabin will be the same cabin for both cruises so no luggage to come off or be moved.
I have received two boarding passes - one for each cruise, so I suppose I will have to present these to Customs and Immigration at sometime.
Can anyone advise and assist - Thank You.

Please add John & Eileen Swinsburg to your cruising list:
Emerald Princess B2B Tasmania and New Zealand
2nd January, 2016.
Thanks

No, No particular reason. But I would like to try it. Have been on quite a few Princess Cruises and never been to The Chefs Table. Will be cruising on the Emerald in January 2017 and would like to try it then. Can you pre-reserve it before boarding or must you wait till on board?
-
Can anyone advise if the Chefs Table is available or will it be available on the Emerald Princess when it starts its Australian Cruise Season.
-
It's a Princess Ship.
-
I hope I am not been misled by my TA, as I have asked my family as to who wants to come and have the experience.
-
OK here is what I did:
First of all I contacted my T/A and mentioned to them if the "Experience" was available.
I will be doing a B2B on Emerald in january 2017. They in turn contacted Princess and then me to say it was a goer. You have to book thru the T/A at least 6 weeks or more before sailing, the cost is I believe $39.00 per person and that includes a tour of the ship, Lunch in the MDR with wine and a Souvenir Photo. People going on the "Experience" must be travelling with a paying passenger who is travelling on the day and your visitors have to have all the security clearances as if they were also sailing on the day. They have to fill in their own Personalizer, etc. and quote a credit card in-case they have extra drinks, etc.
I am looking forward to it and I hope Princess don't pull it off before we sail.
Platinum/Elite Area on Majestic Princess
in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Posted
Does anyone know if the Majestic Princess will have an area set aside for Platinum/Elite Passengers. Both wife and I love that area each evening before dinner. I hope they have not taken it away. Then again they may of moved it to another part of the ship.
