In regards to how long you've been on hold, the last time Carnival made some big announcement I was on hold for 2 hours and 2 hours (had to hang up because I had something important to do).
i would think this announcement affects ALOT more people so I can imagine being on hold 3-4 hours at least.
I’m also seeing people who are cruising 6 months + from now saying they are on hold to call about their testing requirements for their cruise, etc. So much can change and people are panicking, making it hard for people who actually need to deal with upcoming cruises to get thru. If you are cruising 6 months from now, do you really need to call right now? bc they only have protocols thru October.

Correct…I think it needs to say specifically rapid antigen like cvs is doing. Not molecular rapid like ID now or binax

Do you know which test it is?
Walgreens does pcr testing. Their rapid test is a molecular test - ID Now and does not appear to be the needed rapid antigen test required.

I understand that. I leave Saturday, so before Carnivals testing policies kick in. And this is a NEW announcement from the Bahamas. It starts Friday.
The new announcement does not change anything for cruise passengers that are departing from the US. It changes requirements for those starting in the Bahamas like Adventure of the Seas though. We only have to comply with the cruise lines requirements at the time. So if you’re leaving before carnivals policy goes into effect, lucky you..no test needed.

Bahamas only requires that for cruises starting there. Carnivals testing policy is what we all have to worry about.

Military OBC never offered on a Carnival cruise. Princess is the only one that offers veterans OBC. It will be the same amount you get if you have at least 100 shares of Carnival stock, in addition to the stock OBC. As for any credit on board other then that. Nothing! From time to time Carnival does offer discounted military prices. No veterans OBC.
Sometimes the military rate has bonus obc with it. I have 50 dollars obc for my november cruise from the Memorial Day military rate promo. They usually have military bonus obc attached to the military rate around patriotic holidays…like 4th of July and Veterans Day. Otherwise it’s just a military rate unless you hit one of those special obc military promos.

Rite aid just turned around a pcr test in 24 hrs for my husband as they had a positive case at his job and required the entire crew to go get tested regardless of vax status. They told him 2-4 days but this is the second time they turned around a pcr in 24 hrs for us.

Negative. I sent my PVP a copy of my DD-214 the first time I used her and she has taken care of everything from her end on all of my sailings afterwards.
My pvp had us send it to her each time as she was not allowed to save it for security and privacy purposes. We’ve asked too as it’s redundant to keep emailing it in. It’s a your mileage may vary situation.

Carnival does offer a military rate on many sailings. Sometimes there Is bonus obc of 25-50 bucks on those rates. Husband is a vet and we usually see the obc bonus on military rates around Memorial Day, Veterans Day, 4th of July. We got 50 obc for booking a November cruise under the military rate during the Memorial Day sale. You can only get military obc if you book a military rate that includes the obc with your booking.

Am I understanding correctly that if I apply for an exemption for my child, we would not be notified of acceptance/decline until 14 days before the sailing?
Yes.

I found it interesting that it specifically mentions non-vaccinated guests having to wear masks too (in certain circumstances). I had not heard anything about that. One more reason I personally would not cruise if not vaccinated. Wearing a mask around does not sound like fun at all! It was a good day when we got to take them off finally, that was like having a vacation right there!
Hadn’t heard this either, but makes sense now that in some of the recent horizon vlogs, there was carnival staff at the door of the piano bar and other venues before you went in. Someone was joking door police or gate keepers. Assuming they are checking compliance or capacity.

Is paid in full. so they should be looking out for an email for a slim shot of getting on board
Yes and carnival said you may not be notified until 2 weeks before you sail and they are not responsible if you get denied and have non refundable plane today, hotels, etc. They should also be aware of the 300 in testing costs for 2 and possible mandatory insurance and port restrictions/bubble tours

Cruise must be paid in full before you can request to try to get an exemption.

FredVegas eh? If so, its a small world!
Yep! FredVegas. It's certainly exploded in the 20 years he's been there. I remember when Central Park was just a Target and Massaponax was actually outlets!

What about kids under the age of 12 and over 2? Do they fall into unvaccinated and needing insurance?
The official word on the carnival website says it's advised for under 12 set, but not mandatory. There''s other details as well. GO check the website.

Doesn't bother me or my party, we all got the shot 😛
Same for the Oct 17th Pride. I'll be in your town starting on Friday to visit my dad whos high risk...made possible by the shot!

Assuming that will change to include Baltimore and Nola (and any other port they added today). Can't imagine that will just be a Texas and FL requirement as it's to eliminate financial risk

Are those noticably pricier, or in line with other tours?
Tom
Seemed right in line for excursions. I know I saw some for blue lagoon and pricing didn’t look any different for bubble beach day

How can you tell they are bubble tours? My September 18 Mardi Gras sailing doesn't seem to have any that are bubble tours, at least any that I can tell.
Title of the excursion says bubble tour in it.

I just want to know if the Pride is going to sail in October and what the vax requirements will be. However, substituting the Legend fresh out of dry dock works for me. One can only hope.
I'm going to gather with the CDC being given a stay of the CSO, we're looking at a 95/5 situation still. I'm sailing in Oct as well. Bubble tours have started showing up for my November stop in Nassau

I suspect you are correct.
I am also wondering if Carnival changes out the Pride for the Legend as the Legend starts cruises from Baltimore at the end of October and I don't think it has anything going on before that. I may be mistaken but I think it would be a 1:1 switch out with cabins also.
I put this hypothesis out there too. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

OP says they arent vaccinated either but they will in order to travel if necessary. They had covid but not vaccinated.
Sounds like none of them are vaccinated which is why I said wait for John's announcement which might be at 5 pm. See if he now says op can get a refund.
I read that as the OP and her husband (aka the grandparents) would get their shots if they needed it to travel, but the ex husband/former SIL is saying he forbids the 15, 13 and 11 grands to get it. So being above 12..an exemption will prove difficult.
-
The 15 and 13 year old are going to be your issue as they will be considered “unvaxxed adults” in a sense as they are old enough to get the jab. Most exemptions seem to go to those younger than 12 who can’t be vaccinated.

We got the changed letter this morning. About 8 sailings of the Legend from Nov 2021 to Summer 2022 were affected with itinerary changes due to port availability. Various itineraries.
John H announced masks and Mandatory testing,

Eliminates the delay pcr tests have. If labs get backed up, it may take a few days to get results. Rapid antigen tests eliminate that delay and ensure you have results in time to cruise. Husband got a pcr last week and it took 48 hrs and we’re not inundated like Florida or Texas is with testing. His paperwork said it could take up to 6 days to get his results depending on the labs workload.
