I have the suspicion that MSC is running most of their ships at or near 100% capacity - especially now with bookings across the industry up considerably over last year.

So what would be the financial incentive to spend millions of dollars on the kinds of IT upgrades needed when it won’t help them fill their ships any more than they already are?

It would stop the complaints regarding various issues some of which I still see being reported here and on other platforms that were being complained about in 2012!

Their website has been broken for years.  For some reason fixing it doesn't seem very important to MSC

Taking your money is more important, got to pay for all the new ships and the YC Explorer ones as well.

Hi, we are diamond via status match. We are travelling on Virtuosa from Southampton and have been given a 1pm boarding time. Does priority boarding mean we can ignore and go for 10am when embarkation starts?

No, it means you will board before all those with a 1 pm boarding time.

  4. Hi Kernow,

We got off on Friday morning, waited 30 minutes at the ships exit due to the Border Force issue plus a problem with the air bridge, came out of the Terminal and it was already full with those waiting to board, clearly many had ignored their boarding times, got to our car at 9.30 and was lucky to get out of the car park before it became gridlocked. Our journey home took 8 hours. Food over our 12 days was very good In the MDR and Buffet, having disliked Meraviglia we were hoping that Virtuosa may have changed our minds on this class of MSC ship having sailed on all the other classes apart from Europa. Virtuosa is 16 metres longer than Mera and has over 100 cabins added but no extra public spaces and like Mera the Inside bar areas are too small, another downside is the lack of Aft lifts, if as we were you are on or near the back of the ship you have to walk almost half the length of the ship to the nearest lifts. Seaside which we sailed on twice and the Fantasia class for us will always be better than the Meraviglia class ships.

  5. MSC Cruises has made some modifications to the pricing structure of its beverage packages, which includes the Easy, Easy Plus, and Premium Extra packages. The new prices have been adjusted based mainly on the voyage length.

Guests will notice that some package prices have been raised considerably, between 5-30% depending on the voyage length.

For instance, the Easy package now costs €273, or $322, for a cruise lasting more than seven days. This is a price increase of more than 20%. Per person per day, the Easy package costs €39, or $46, if purchased in advance. It will cost guests €47, or $57 if purchased onboard on a cruise for more than seven days. The Easy package will now cost €43, or $49, if booked in advance, and €51, or $60, on board for trips lasting less than seven days.

True but it is a group booking and they can't sit together at the MDR if one has a drink package and the others don't. In order to sit together you have to all have a package. This could be why TA is telling them that they have to buy it.  Not sure if you could get the maitre'd to do it or not once you board.

Not correct, we have been seated with others who didn't have a drink package on the same table. The dining room have no idea who have paid for drinks until they see your cruise card. Despite what MSC or their small print might say.

I know was on the ship, the menu is likely to be the same with slight increases.

Untill someone on the ship posts new drinks  menu prices are a guess and may change again after the 3 day runs.

£14 is the maximum included drink price for Premium Extra.
