  1. Seems to me if I order something at O'S and don't feel like eating it when it finally arrives, I am just going to leave with it and the waiter can chase me.

I know people who order the cheese plate for dessert at dinner so they can eat the cheese later with wine on balcony. Hum...

Buffet takeouts are necessary too if someone is sick. What they may need to eat may not be on the room service menu.

The convenience fee is a delivery charge and I dont think too many will tip on top. Waiters will start to complain they are not getting any tips (unless part of the delivery charge is a tip for them and part goes to NCL, anybody know?) $7.95 is too much.

  2. On the Pride 14 day repo cruise in March the guest lecturer spoke on how to publish a book. The problem was that it was the only theme or topic for 5 or 6 sea days and it was at the same time of day and conflicted with other things.

I was disappointed that it was a series and the only lecture, no other topic or time. I went once and it was enough.

  3. Wherever a survey has a place to write in comments, that is where I write what bothers me or put my suggestions. I try to spin it to my advantage depending where the write in spots are located.

I think they would be interested in written comments. The rest they can calculate on computer.

  4. You said there was a lack of comfortable common space. Were there comfy or soft seats, sofas in the atrium or some bars, maybe to sit inside on sea days. Were there nice seats in the library area?

  5. YES...NCL has, does, and will reduce and/or eliminate the single supplement as part of their ongoing efforts to keep the ship's full. Single supplement reductions are outlined in the weekly Sales PAL which is sent to all PCCs and Travel Agents.

Your best bet on getting alerted to a reduction is through a good working relationship with a PCC or TA.

That's news to me. I thought NCL never reduced price for singles. Always pd double.

Your brother doesn't want the inside studio? Room is dinky but ok. Not sure I would want more than a week in studio. Only tried 4 days. But the studio lounge was nice. Overall, not too bad.

  6. Yes. I asked when I was in an inside once and had no problem egtting the coffee maker. I am fairly certain that all cabins on NCL ships have a fridge. Every cabin, regardless of category I have been in has had a fridge.

I have never been on the Star. Heading back to the Jade (where we cruised together). Have a great time.

Rochelle, Thanks for coffee maker info.

I am doing the Star northcape Norway cruise in June from CPH. Went back on Jade year after we met on Jade. I have 3 FCCs so will be cruising NCL, nothing else booked yet with NCL.. But have 2 new ships booked, Hal Koningsdam and Carnival Vista cruises for 2016. Loretta

  7. Thus is pretty fare, most still free (esp. Breakfast) and a few upcharge items and tip.

Over at NCL chat board everybody is really complaining about NCL rolling out a "convenience delivery fee" Testing it on Breakaway and Getaway, $4.95 and $7.95 are the two delivery charges being tested. All deliveries even if you just get coffee and danishes... They already have a $5 pizza fee and no 24 hr free pizza or softserve.

  8. At least Carnival is keeping most of the same free room service menu items for free delivery (sandwiches, salad, desserts), including cold breakfast items (smoked salmon, bagels, cereal, muffins, toast, fruit slices etc) and only charging for new hot ones delivered like pizza, wings and fries and some other things. Still free 24 hr pizza/softserve icecream on Lido and snack buffet at 11:30pm to 12:30am on Lido (hot dogs, salad, fruit, cookies, chili etc)

  9. I just got off 14 day Pride cruise on Sun, Tampa to Baltimore. Had late fixed dining at 8:15 pm, table with 7 people. We were usually were done by 945pm. (entertainment usually started between 10-10:30) Two of our waiters were table dancers in dining room and had to hurry. We had Ken Byrne the singing maitre d too. Some men at our table had 2-3 starters and 2 dinners. I thought our waiters were really quick under the circumstances. It was fine with us.

  10. Over on the NCL boards everybody is complaining about the testing of a room service charge on Breakaway and Getaway, one at $4.95 and one at $7.95 (testing the price point) no matter what your order on room service *pizza is already $5.00) and hot items are being added. But people who only want coffee and danish for example will have to pay fee too.

JH did mention on Pride ship I got off on Sun that Carnival will add hot food to room service but never said anything about a charge.
