  1. You knew the terms when you booked (or at least should have known) and were apparently happy with the price at the time. Not sure how you think you were "screwed over."

Let me make it simple. I buy a toaster for $95 and don't us it, and a week later it is on sale for $45. I return it and or at some places just take the receipt (SAMS CLUB) back and get the difference. When I bought this my PVP did not say that there were different rules than my normal ES buys over the last 5 years. Additionally, the PVP said "I HAD TO GET IT TODAY BEFORE MIDNIGHT" so figured this was going to be the lowest possible pricing. Also you do not get to see the terms and small print of a "SALE" until after you book. So now I have my toaster and they will not let me return it without a very costly re-stocking fee. See why I say it sucks?

  2. Did anyone start with a guarantee room rate from the Halloween sale? I talked to my TA and he said the only thing I could do was upgrade to a selected room and that wouldn't be a savings.

    Yes....

I sure wish we were not getting screwed over on this :(. Booked with my PVP during the Halloween sale for a GTY Balcony and paid in full as required for the Dec 11 sailing from PC. Well now the price has dropped for the GTY Balcony by more than $120 and I cannot get the price or the refund or OBC according to my PVP. I said will then cancel this booking and rebook me under the 35 hour sale.... no I would have to pay a penalty that is more than the $120 that I would save. BUT I can upgrade to a Obstructed Jr Suite.... no because then I have to pay the difference of $143 and that is an "obstructed" cabin with a smaller balcony but little bigger room, that would be stupid, I get the balcony to have a balcony. Now the Carnival sight is down so I cannot go check on a Grand Suite price. This price drop stuff sucks.

  3. I'm ..... If you want to upgrade to the premium balcony I'd call and pay the difference.

Yes you see that is the problem. I did call and ONLY if I upgrade to a Suite and pay more will they allow me to move. TO another balcony...no, But then they will not let me have the dropped Suite price. I would have to cancel this whole thing and start over...and pay the penalty for cancelling. Got to love the rules.

And you are correct this GTY Program is not for me.

  4. Jaxfl ... maybe its just way to early but I dont understand your complaint? What ship and room # did you get?

    Sensation, U215

My complaint is really 2 fold. One why would they leave the best cabins open for the late people that the only reason they book in the first place is that the cabins are reduced so far down in price that they are almost free and not give them to the people that actually cruise the line because they like the ship and have cruised with them many times before. Number Two they dropped the price on my category of balcony after the Halloween Sale when I bought, but will not let me get OBC or a free upgrade.

  5. Actually don't think I will ever do a GTY again. With my eyes closed I could have picked a better Balcony cabin than they did. Sure it in between decks and should be OK for the cruise but really in the aft area and just a plan balcony cabin when less than 5 cabins away there are still 5 aft extended that have been available for the last 2 months. They are still available as of this morning. So who is going to get them..... the person that waits until the very last minute to book a GTY balcony on this cruise instead of someone that plans ahead. Oh and there are also still 16+ jr. or Grand suites available also.... this is not a good way to go.

  7. You can give up your cabin and be put into the guaranty pool. If you don't mind where your cabin is, you can switch from ES to GTY. No going back once you've done it though. If you want to do this, call them.

I just did this with the 35 hour sale. I called my PVP, we discussed it, then he did it for me.

I talked to my PVP 3 times yesterday and to drop the GTY cabin I now have been assigned and go back in to GTY pool to get the better price from the Halloween sale I would have to pay fees that come to more than the new discounted price.... Also all the cabins showing in my category are up a deck under the kitchen so not a good trade off...I will never do the GTY thing again.

  8. It is the big companies that have missed with us being humans. Sorry for your loss. The other day I read that a lady was told to bring prof that her husband had died..... to a cell phone company so they would close the account. She brought the death certificate and the asks and they still don't believe that he expired and she doesn't know what to do. Hope all works out for you in the end.

  9. Even though we were beyond the final payment date we were still able to benefit from price drops.

We weren't given cash back, but we were given 2 upgrades and over $400 back in OBC!

    It doesn't hurt to ask.

    Did you have ES ?

  10. Be careful on these 35 hour sales. Did the last one and now the price has dropped $122 for the cabin and I cannot get he savings because it is not an ES sale, it is "SPECIAL" so even if the price drops to $1.50 for the cabin you are stuck paying the SPECIAL price.

    Just saying.

  11. Are there any perks to booking an Ocean Suite? Priority boarding? Tendering??? THANKS!

Priority Boarding and a big room with a bath tub.

That is it... Even with a Suite it would pay to get FTTF if you have tenders to catch or want to get off early or not stand in a long line at CS desk.

Here is a list someone posted of Suite Perks....Keep in mind you are paying dearly for the perks on the other ships.... $1000+ per suite

  12. "it will vary from ship to ship, crew to crew".

However the rule that is 99% followed is you must bring your 1 bottle per legal aged person on board in your carry on luggage and if you try to bring more or put it in your hold bags it is smuggleing and if found will be taken away form you and you will have to go to the naughty room to get your bag.

  13. camper49,

I saw a youtube of the OB jr Suites from 2013 that some folks shot of the Sensation, that is why I said that the "regular balcony" on the Dream and the "Jr Suite" on the Sensation are about the same thing. I know the Dream is bigger been on it (2013) and the Fasination (2012) out of Jacksonville but I thought I remembered the Fasination had a sofa in the balcony cabin and the Sensation does not. Anyway for 3 days I guess I can suffer in a balcony.

  14. Thanks for the comments... so far it is a majority that I should stay in the regular balcony cabin and use the money for other things. Thanks again. I guess I will wait for the upgrade call and if they can move me to a "Grand Suite" for less money, then I might take it otherwise I will keep the Upper Deck Balcony.

  15. 3 Day Cruise??? How much time do you plan on staying in your cabin? With the exception of sleeping and showering, I would be OUT AND ABOUT to do everything I could possibly do in three days. JMO. :)

Actually the idea of this cruise is just to have a couple of drinks, relax, not even get off the ship, go to lunch and dinner and chill. Been on a few cruises and don't want to get home needing a vcaction....

  16. OK I need a reality check. We have (me & Wife) a Sensation balcony cabin on the upper aft deck. I just saw some videos and realized that there is only a “Hard Backed CHAIR” in the room to set on or the bed, and a very small sink. This is correct, right? A few months ago on the Dream in the balcony cabin there was a “Nice Soft COUCH” a full wall sink area, and a table, what happened?

So then I look at the Sensation Jr Suite videos and the cabin seems to be like the “DREAM Balcony” it has a “Nice Soft COUCH” a full wall sink area, and a table.

I have FTTF so boarding should be fast, this is only a 3 day cruise to Nassau, and the balcony cabin is in a good location ……. Should I for about $140 more total after giving up the FTTF, get a Jr Suite obstructed view or stay where we are now and live with the “Hard Backed CHAIR” and/or just set on the balcony for the 3 days?

I know personal preference but what would you do if you spend 50% of your time in the cabin/balcony area?
