And thank you, also, LastDance! Any info is certainly appreciated.

Thanks, Jim_Iain, but no thoughts as to whether or not the balcony 'doors' open to adjacent balconies? (I knew you would have some information for me; you are always so helpful with everyone!)

A friend and I have just booked adjacent rooms in the SV category on Beyond and am wondering about the 'white space' shown on the deck plans between some of the adjacent SV rooms on both Beyond and Apex. Does anyone know what that space represents as well as if the balcony door can be opened between those rooms. We'd love to be able to open up the space when sitting out there.
Any help from anyone who has sailed on either Apex or Beyond.

Hi, Ken, following along since I just booked an SV on Beyond for June, 2023 and have a 'burning question': deck plans for the aft SV's on each pax deck show a blank strip between for instance 9309 and -ll; and 9310 and -12 with the same plan showing on each of the upper decks. My friend and I with adjacent SV's on Beyond which show the white space between the cabins are wondering what that space represents, and most importantly, will we be able to open the verandas to allow access to each other?
Just hoping you might have noticed since you're in the SV as well!

I'm in with the crowd choosing Celebrity over Princess, especially with my experience this past October on Princess. We sailed Emerald Princess on her first voyage post Covid from Los Angeles to Miami through the new Panama Canal channel. Since this was only my second cruise on Princess - the first one 27 years ago - perhaps I shouldn't. be too critical, but I thought the food in the main dining room was (gasp!) terrible. Not much in the way of seasoning and almost everything was overcooked!
I prefer the vibe on Celebrity, and find the demographics mixed, with all ages represented. The bars are lively, the entertainment and bands, combos quite good. And from what I've read and seen pictures of the Edge, their "infinity verandas" are a poor joke on their passengers. They are, basically, an extension of the stateroom with the full wall of doors opening onto the 'veranda', which has a full width 'window' which opens half way down to make the 'veranda'. And the bridge has control of the windows in inclement weather. So you won't find me on Celebrity's E class ships, either now or in the future! But all the others are great.

1985RZ1, YOU READ THE POST THE SAME AS I DID: GUARANTEE RESERVATION FOR C1.

We had one once, and it was great! The space for just the two of us was wonderful, and the veranda took the cake! Great space with a dining table and chairs for four as well as two loungers and a small table. To me, these were superior to any perks they could have thrown in!

I've not stayed in that area, but slightly - 2 or 2 cabins - away from that area. Didn't hear anything inside the room!

Yes, I did book a specialty dinner for my sister and I, but it was supposed to be one of the perks for staying in a suite (first night). If this is the case will it automatically be credited back to the CC I used once on board?
And thank you all for pointing this out. I hadn't realized Princess would bill for something that is supposed to be gratis.

Just checked my AMEX account and find a $58 charge from Princess thanking me for my stay Oct 15 to Oct 15, 2021, the date of my upcoming cruise on Empress. Does anyone know what this might be for? Is there a cost for the Medallions? Or for using the Medallion app? Other than these possibilities - of which I have never been made
aware - I don't know what this charge would be for.
Any help here?
Thanks,
Donna

Goncourt the Penthouse……….
Yes, there's nothing like the service and perks in penthouse suites! What I've always loved to do was to order dinner from the specialties and dine on your balcony! At least once each cruise!

I enjoy the price which seems to be the best bargain transatlantic. Can afford an Oceanview, Veranda, or a Penthouse Suite without breaking the bank. I also like the relaxed dress code that they have. Seems like sensible luxury without the formalities.
I'm sure you will enjoy a TA on Oceania; there's nothing not to enjoy on board. And don't ignore 4:00 tea time every day!!!

you can do the test on anything that has a camera
the app may or may not be available on non-phone devices, in which case you just use the website through a browser on your particular device.
And thank you as well, The_Mac!

Yes you can do the test on your laptop. I speak from experience 🙂
Thanks so much, Tinkbell87! Now I just have to figure out how to turn on my camera. Or does it automatically turn on once on the app? (Old lady here! Not familiar with camera on laptop since I've never used it!)

I don't know if this has been asked yet (haven't read all 12 pages) but can I do this on my laptop or must it be done on my phone? Thanks.

After sailing over the past 30 years or so, I've been on NCL, Dolphin (now defunct), RCCL, HAL, Celebrity and Oceania, my preference is always Oceania. It seems to fit me like a glove. Only problem is that since I enjoy cruising multiple times a year it becomes quite pricey in my retirement. That's why Celebrity is my second choice. But it's good to have options, isn't it?

And also access to the wonderful pax who favor Oceania! I enjoy this O forum more than the Celebrity or even the Regent forums. We O-cruisers are just the right mix of spunk and courtesy. 🤗
I agree 1000% with all three statements. Probably the friendliest, most unpretentious group of fellow passengers I've ever sailed with, regardless of whether staying in an inside, Oceanview, balcony or suite! We've met some great folks on board with whom we still stay in contact with and have also done multiple cruises with.

Well, Oceania has a couple of fun things which are done on their transoceanic cruises. One is boat building/racing which is great fun even if you're not in the competition! The boats must be built with recycled items from on board the ship. I think they give about a week for the construction, which is then topped off with the flotilla being launched in the pool. Of course, some of the entries don't float too well and, well kinda start sinking. There is a competition as to who has made the most original and nicest decorated. Great fun watching the competition.
They also do some kind of Cruisey Fair, kinda like a country fair, but different. There are games to be played, some competitions like golf putting with a couple of twists. Prizes (Oceania tokens) are given at some of the booths.
The officers and staff man the booths, act as judges, etc. All in all, both afternoons are great fun! Especially with a fun drink in one's hand!
Enjoy your cruise, wherever you leave from.

Thanks!
No problem with those but , for some reason I found the doctor's note thing (which is still on Celebrity's FAQ site by the way) really insulting.
Glad to see someone else felt as I did about that. It was really offensive to those of us in our golden years, with many of us being in better shape than those decades younger!!!

I thought I read somewhere that you can only dine with people who were in your party. i.e. booked together. The only thing I can find on O is
Will specialty restaurants be open? Are there restrictions on restaurant capacity and the number of reservations I can make? All of our specialty restaurants will be available for our guests. Capacity and reservations restrictions may be required based on local regulations in the jurisdiction(s) the ship(s) are sailing in.
If they restrict dining to individual parties, that might be a problem for booking La Reserve. Does anyone have information from passengers on current sailings?
All I can say is that O accepted my reservation for two of us for a La Reserve dinner. This cruise is in January 2022. We'll see how it works out.

If your emergency contact is failing try adding the "1" to their phone number.
Hi, Thrak! Yes, the +1 is entered for the emergency contact, but still nothing. I'm not going to worry about it any more; I'm done playing around with their app. Must be ok, since it allowed me to make dinner reservations though. Will find out on the 15th when we arrive at the terminal.

Welllll, still no luck adding emergency contact, so I'll not bother any further. However, I was able to make my reservation for first night on board in Crown Grille; no option to chose preferred time, but the auto 7:30 works well for my sister and me.

Donna, have you tried logging in with Booking Number etc. ?
No, I haven't, since the app opens to the page with all the check marks for completed entries, the only one not checked is for the emergency contact. Just tried again and got the same thing. Turned off my phone to stop the 'loading'. I'll try to log in with my booking number when it opens again. Thanks for this tip, Tedferg!

You can once again sign up online for LaReserve. Several weeks ago, we did for our January 2022 Riviera Cruise.
Ditto. I did the same.
