  1. We are currently negotiating a Ukrainian meal to be served on the pool deck. The Ukrainian chef Andrii is amazing. Tonight we had plated lobster that was excellent. I hate to cook so every meal at the Grill is plated for me. This man is an amazing chef.
  2. Thanks for your awesome colour commentary High! Safe travels home!
  3. Inclement weather did not detract from our excursion. I stood outside on the boat for our sail around Lake Loen in order to get photos. I must have looked like a drowned rat by the end of it and thankfully I gave up on vanity years ago. 😅 So here are the pics...... The water is jade green due to the sediment coming down from melting glaciers..... We stopped at the end of the lake for delicious Norwegian Waffles and coffee..... Boarded the bus for the return to port. Here are pics from photo stops.....
  4. We took an excursion that cruised Lake Loen! Spectacular even in the rain! Pics to follow. Thanks @RELS for your beautiful pic!
  5. We girded our loins, grabbed a brolly and headed out in the drizzle. First some pics taken from the ship... From our soggy amble..... Alesund Church..... And more from the amble.....
  6. Thanks so much for your info! Very kind of you to take the time to clarify the situation! 🥰
  7. Grey drizzling day in Alesund. We had a very cool excursion booked which would have taken us to Troll Road. Last night after dinner we noticed that the excursion had disappeared from our agenda and our expenses had been credited with the cost. There was no notice of this cancelation. Reception said that there had been an avalanche. I'll check with shore excursions when they open at 5:00 pm. Disappointing! We're going to wait and see if the weather clears and perhaps go for a walk about.
  8. Today we are steaming to Alesund, Norway with a scheduled arrival of 8:00 am tomorrow. Seas are still a little rocky. 3 to 4 metre swells and winds at force 4 on Beaufort scale. Cloudy and rainy.
  9. After our wonderful Philippine in-suite dinner I sent a note to the Executive Chef expressing our thanks. Tonight we came back to the suite after dinner to find.... Along with a note saying "With Compliments" from Executive Chef Christian Davino. I love Silversea!
  10. Sculling is a national sport here in the Faroe Islands. A competition is set to go at 3:00 pm today. Crafts and teams are gathering at the pier where we are docked.
  11. Seas have calmed enough for me to shower and not kill myself in the process! 😁 Life is good!
  12. Seas are still bouncing. Ship speed is up to 17 knots. Steaming toward Runavik with scheduled arrival of 11:30 am.
  13. We think the creaking sound is the door. Also wind whistles. A virtual symphony! 😁 It hasn't stopped since very early this morning. We shuffled our way down the hall to Dolce Vita for a change in scenery. White knuckled the rail!
  14. We continue to bounce like a rubber ball. Captain's report at noon indicated there would not be much change. With the humongous splashes, spray and rain drops it feels like we are inside a shaken snow globe. For the first time ever cruising since 2005 Myster had to bounce his way to Reception for medication for his queasiness. This storm is a beast. Arrival in Runavik now looks to be late afternoon tomorrow instead of scheduled early morning.
  15. Unless things settle down I'm not leaving the suite. Old bones don't react well to falls. Not seasick, thank the Goddesses!
  16. 20220610_083756.mp4 Something dropped from the ceiling in the night. The most angry seas we have ever sailed!
  17. We're heading into rough seas tonight into tomorrow. The swells could be 6 to 7 meters. Winds could gust to 45 mph. Rolling and pitching to be expected. Hold on to your hats folks! This could be a bumpy ride!
  18. COVID cases today were 11 pax and 22 crew. Some pax were disembarked. S.A.L.T. Kitchen... We've eaten there 4 times. 3 times were very good. One time was a disappointment. S.A.L.T. Bar is wonderful and very small. With COVID cases at the current level we have avoided it.
  19. Today we are docked in Reykjavik for the beginning of segment 4. We need to leave our suite by 8:00 am. Last night we had a wonderful in-suite Philippine meal...chicken adobo, lumbia, pansit and rice. Such a treat!
  20. We were lucky enough to be in Heimaey on the segment before this one. We did a Circumnavigation of Heimaey. Beautiful!!!
  21. Thank you Paula! Overall this has been a great adventure! The staff and crew have been heroic as always! And there are many lovely fellow passengers! Silversea is our favourite cruise line and even during times when circumstances make for difficulties they do their very best to provide an awesome sail.
  22. Spectacular pics @highplanesdrifters!
