  1. Today we will be in Akureyri, Iceland. There will be a Grand Northern Europe event from this port. We will travel to Husavik and from there board traditional Icelandic oak ships to sail to Flatey Island. Pic from our sail in....
  2. Thanks for chiming in RELS! Very happy to have other fellow passengers weighing in! 😁
  3. Thank you Tudor! People were being a little more careful today! 😁
  4. It makes for an interesting breakfast! 😅 Our excursion started at 9:30 am.
  5. Today we did a Chocolate and Beer tasting excursion. The chocolate shop was called Frida and the brewery was called Segull 67. Some pics from our adventure.....
  6. Today we are at anchor off Siglufjordur, Iceland. Photos to follow when internet stabilizes. Mountains are causing interference.
  7. I needed that laugh TTS! Myster and I are struggling to stay clear of the nasty. We have about 27 days left for this cruise and we really don't want to miss any of them because people are playing fast and loose with the rules. Dress code violations are one thing and disrespect for fellow passengers is closer to a mortal sin.
  8. Our excursion was Mountains and Waterfalls of Arnarfjordur. Pics from en route... Dynjandi Waterfall...
  9. We scurried up to the Pool deck. Wonderful gentleman named William is taking wonderful care of us! He knows Myster enjoys the fish of the day and sets us up in our favourite location away from the Maddening Crowds. Sorry if grumpy is squeaking out!
  10. Very long excursion today (6 hours) which departed at 8:00 am on tender. No meal included. Now refueling and pics to follow.
  11. Regarding the mask wearing...new group sat right behind us in the Venetian Lounge not wearing masks. Myster and I changed our seats moving further upwind of them. In the line for the tender in front of us , a family of 4, mom, dad and 2 teenagers no masks. Staff had to poke them. COVID is still here. Captain announces counts. No easy way to identify them!
  12. The tour we did today was intended to give us time away from seating in the Panorama Lounge. It did that and was not inspiring. We visited an outdoor museum (Arbaejarsafn) which was interesting. Given 30 minutes to explore. The church..... Then we went to Perlan "The Pearl" for a scenic view of Reykjavik. Another 40 minutes. Then to the Iceland National Museum for another 50 minutes. This tour was simply a time killer for changeover day. It accomplished that but not much more.
  13. We are docked in Reykjavik this morning. Very dense fog. Myster and I both tested negative yesterday on our COVID tests. Today is the end of segment 2 and the beginning of segment 3. We're going on the Highlights of Reykjavik tour this morning.
  14. We did see nesting Puffins Lola. My camera could not adequately capture them though. 😏
  15. Some photos of our Circumnavigation of Heimaey..... The Elephant......left of center, eye and trunk dipping down to the water....
  16. This morning we are en route to Heimaey, Westman Islands, Iceland. We are scheduled to be at anchor for 9:00 am. Beautiful sunny morning. Afternoon high is forecast to be 11 C or 52 F. It will be a day of layers. Excursion is a Circumnavigation of Heimaey. En route pic...
  17. Pics from our excursion The Valley of the Waterfalls by Jeep... Tomorrow we are in Heimaey, Iceland.
  18. Except, of course, for Mysty who took a tour into the mountains to see waterfalls. 😁
  19. I wondered the same thing. Based on the cold of the pool deck chairs currently I am on the side of the protection of lower regions from the cold. 😁
  20. Yesterday was chilly. I don't particularly enjoy the cold. For the walking tour I wore a long sleeve top, a fleece hoodie, a fleece lined jacket with a Gortex raincoat on top of the other layers. I was comfy. Wore a toque and gloves. Secret is layering. Many folks have puffy jackets.
  21. Yesterday we were in Seydisfjordur, Iceland. Beautiful sail in. As we entered the fjord we lost internet access because of the interference of the mountains. We took a guided walking tour around the town. It was founded in 1848 by Norwegians as a herring trading post. It's a town of colourful wooden buildings surrounded by majestic Mt. Bjolfur to the west and Strandartindur to the east. Here are some pics from our walk about.... Today we are at anchor off Djupivogur, Iceland.
  22. Today is a sea day. The morning started with heavy seas. There was a special breakfast for the Grand Voyage folks in Atlantide. Turnout was a little skimpy probably due to the rocking and rolling. There was a buffet of cold options, a crepe station and various egg options. Lovely displays! This afternoon Myster and I will be enjoying a Premium Wine Tasting in Silver Note. Our Head Sommelier on this cruise is Biljana. She is amazing! Last evening as we sat in Dolce Vita sipping champagne with lovely new friends Captain Zanello informed us that the Silver Moon had run into some trouble due to the swells and the horrific winds yesterday afternoon. It seems that the anchor was struggling to keep the ship in position and was being dragged along the sea bed. It got tangled in a fishing net. They had to haul up the anchor and use crew on tenders to painstakingly cut off the fishing net. We seem to be doing just fine now. 😁
  23. Someone had posted here asking about the gifts for folks doing the full Grand Northern Europe Voyage. I'm very sorry that I don't remember who posed the question. In the last segment we received a lovely travel bag and 2 leather bound travel journals.
