Had a great time last night attending a VIP open house of our brand new KCI terminal. Thanks to the airport public relations director for getting me tickets. The construction has been going on over the last two years. This $1.5 billion project features over 40 gates, a 6,000 car garage, many restaurants and shops and local commissioned art throughout.

A lot more walking than the old 3 smaller terminal system. Lots of space. I like the people movers.

Bag claim is downstairs with plenty of room.

The terminal opens next week and we will fly out of it on March 11th for the Bella Cruise. With a 6:30am flight, I have peace of mind knowing the layout and where to go. I hope all of you will get a chance to fly into Kansas City and see this new terminal.

It is absolutely beautiful and seems very functional. Much overdue!! I've always loved flying in and out of MCI but would not want to be stuck in the old airport for hours.

We are sailing on Beyond on April 16-23. Maybe this has been covered in the past but what shows are a do not miss? Plus if you had to pick one specialty restaurant what would it be? Do you need to make reservations for the shows ahead of time?
We are dining in Blu! Can we get an entree from one of the 4 MDR’s if we so choose?

    Any help would be appreciated…

    We loved Elements. Twice!

This was the Phillies parade, they had over a million, when the Eagles had their Super Bowl Parade they had twice as many it was reported, over 2 million.

Philadelphia people really know how to party though, Mummers Parade every year also gets large crowds.

I would certainly expect them to have a larger crowd. I believe Philly is 2-3 times as large as KC and also has a lot of fairly nearby metropolitan areas to draw from as well.

But THIS year is KC's time and someone will have a wonderful celebration next year. Maybe one of these 2 teams but whoever it is, they will enjoy it so much!

KC Chiefs Parade is on NFL Network. now............having speeches now on a stage, can't understand why it isn't wall to wall people down there listening to the speeches. I can actually see the ground with no people.

Wow!  You must be watching some very bad video or poor angles. The official count was approximately a million attendees. It was a huge crowd. The actual parade route was 10-12 people deep for several blocks.

Try Google for an overhead picture.

It does not shut down their AC, but it will seriously adversely affect their AC.

Here is my standard spiel about balcony doors and AC.  Every cabin has two AC systems in it.  The first, is the one controlled by the cabin thermostat (and the balcony door switch), which only recirculates air within the cabin over an individual cooling coil by an individual fan in the cabin.  The second one is the fresh air supply system that balances out the bathroom exhaust fan, so you get fresh air in, and stale air out.  This system takes air from outside the ship, cools it, and supplies it to a number of cabins, and is controlled centrally, outside of passenger control.  Typically, all the cabins in one fire zone (between the doors in the passageway), on one deck, are supplied in common (so maybe 30+ cabins).  Now, the amount of fresh air supplied is slightly more than the exhaust air from the bathroom, for a very important reason, this slight overpressure in the cabin, keeps smoke from the passageway from entering your cabin. The overpressure goes out through the gap under the door to the cabin, into the passageway.  So, in a fire, you won't get smoke into your cabin. Now, if I open the balcony door, this unbalances the fresh air supply to your cabin, since you have changed the overpressure relief from the small gap under the door, to a huge wide open doorway to the balcony.  This drops the pressure in your cabin to atmospheric pressure, and can be shown by simply opening the cabin door at the same time the balcony door is open, and the wind tunnel created will blow any light object in the cabin out the balcony door.  Now, we get to your neighbors.  Since their cabins are maintaining positive overpressure, but yours is not, the fresh air supply will "take the path of least resistance" and increase the airflow to your cabin, meaning less cool fresh air for the other cabins in the block.  Therefore, their cabins will start to warm up, and you also remove the important safety factor of overpressure from their cabins.

Whenever I got complaints about warm cabins, particularly if there was a cluster of them, I would just walk down the passageway and listen for the wind whistling under a cabin door.  That is the cabin where I would find a balcony door open, and when the occupants were told to close it, the complaints from the surrounding cabins stopped.

Very interesting. And very technical. Thanks.

Thanks for the report.  No pizza, hamburgers, curry, sandwiches,  or grilled meat or fish other than the Tilapia?  If possible could you make observations for a few more nights and also confirm whether there are many unused buffet stations (sounds like about half of them must be)?  Finally, could you give an estimate of the lunch offerings vs the dinner?  If Lunch is 100% would you say Dinner offerings are 50%, 40%, 30%?

    Thanks!

The OP mentioned 4 kinds of pizza.

  7. What a fun thread!! We will be in Bologna for a couple of days prior to a cruise from Ravenna in October so if anyone has restaurant suggestions, please share.

And gelato!!! I may just have to try all. My favorite to this day was in Milan. I shall try to find the name of the place 😊

    Hello All-

Looking to book flights and wondering what is the earliest flight time you have personally had after a cruise from Rome?  I see Flights by Celebrity has one at 11:00 am.  I am looking at several options and a couple leave within the 10:00 hour.

Also.... I looked on Flights by Celebrity and couldn't find pricing options for premium or first class.... just economy and business.  So I called.  Unfortunately my representative was not very helpful.... she said they don't offer premium/comfort plus seats.  Can this be right?

Thanks for your help...as always, I appreciate you!

Most international flights are Business which is the same seating as First would be domestic.

I've been working on Celebrity Air all afternoon and mostly with premium fares. Some business. I see all classes so they are there. Unfortunately you will need to look at airline sites for seat availability.
