The times we have had a similar conversation!  Using the term amenity rather than perk definitely helps.

We frequently find when booking the perks come automatically so we do get gratuity for two guests and the OBC.

On boarding we have on several occasions had to have further discussions when our adult son cruises with us as his card is frequently without his drink package sticker....Usually the concierge will simply apply the sticker and apologise but on a couple of occasions they have initially said “The drinks package is only for two guests...” and we have had to reiterate he has a package from the room, not from the perks....

Always sorted but it doesn’t help that some TAs and Celebrity staff don’t understand. Over the years we have spoken to many suite guests who have been wrongly advised including a CS guest who was told by her TA she had the same perks as a RS/PH, a RS guest on M class who even had an email from her TA  confirming she had a second bathroom in her suite (S class only), SS guests still being told they get a free speciality meal (stopped a few years ago)....Well worth new cruisers or cruisers who have not cruised in a suite before checking on CC for the real answer to what comes with each room!!!

What is still confusing is the laundry service which is listed as twice per cruise but in reality seems to be unlimited.

Luckily once onboard (our two Celebrity cruises) everything worked perfectly.

This is the only time I’ve had any issue with getting something like this sorted.

Many agents do not understand the distinction between amenities attached to the suite and so-called "perks," which come and go with the wind.  What has been described above are amenities which come with your suite booking.  Nothing to do with perks.

    I agree

In addition to the above comments, the laundry includes dry cleaning and pressing. The in-suite beverages includes beer and mixer for the liquor replenished daily.  Depending on the port, you have a special luggage drop off and escort through security, check-in and boarding the ship.  The shore side concierge is another amenity that permits you to request dinner reservations prior to boarding the ship or request other special items like extra hangers, blankets, pool towels, and additional deck lounger.

Gratuities and onboard credit that you might receive at booking are perks and not amenities that come with the suite.

I have repriced my B2B cruise twice and also used the lift and switch on them (Transpacific from Vancouver to Japan and the Best of Japan.)  My perks of onboard credit and gratuities remained in place.

    Thank you

They have really made it very confusing when you look on line now too - they show those perks for all suites.

Another amenity of the RS is laundry.  If your existing booking included 4 perks and the RS price does not include perks then you you lose them but in reality what you are losing is the prepaid gratuities and $300 OBC. As the Premium Beverage pkg and wi-fi are amenities of the RS.    What you are gaining is the unlimited specialty dining and laudrry.

    Hi

I forgot about the laundry but we used that also.

I think that I’ll mention to use the word amenity of the RS rather than perks.  Maybe that’s what is confusing the person at Celebrity.

    Thank you

Your list of “perks” are actually amenities that are included in the price of the suite. You should not lose any of those. IMO, the X agent is incorrect, which unfortunately happens a lot.

    Hi

Thank you for confirming - that’s what I thought (and my TA thought).

She said she’s going to try calling again later and hopefully get someone who knows the correct answer.

    Thank you

  6. Hi

I am looking for clarification of the perks for booking a Royal Suite.

We have cruised twice on Celebrity; both times in a Royal Suite.

I understood the perks of the Royal Suite to include:

    Alcohol set up in suite

Beverage (water/soda/etc) set up in suite and replenished as needed

    Included Specialty dining

    Premium Beverage Package

    Internet

Luminae, Retreat Lounge, Retreat Sundeck (this one is for all suites)

I’m sure there are other that I can’t think of off the top of my head

When we were on our last cruise (Feb 2020) we booked a future cruise also in a Royal Suite (for Feb 2022)

I noticed there was a price drop on our sailing and when my TA called Celebrity, they told her I would lose my perks with the new price.

My TA mentioned that the perks should be part of the Royal Suite and not an add-on and was told that’s not the case.

Has anyone else heard of this change?

    Thank you

We are booked on the 8/30 Oasis but I have a feeling it will be canceled. We are considering an August 2021 Symphony sailing. Unfortunately the Oasis trip is labeled Bahamas and the Symphony is Caribbean so I don’t think I can do LaS.

So if the cruise gets cancelled, I choose FCC, what happens if I immediately book Symphony? Have to pay the deposit out of pocket and use FCC for final payment?

I believe I can also get FCC for prepaid drinks and internet packages, correct?

    Thanks in advance!

If you haven’t made final payment yet, you can just have your deposit moved to the sailing you want next year.  Then make that final payment next year.

You don’t have to worry about lift and shift rules.  You pay the current rate for the new sailing.  You also can choose any sailing you want, any duration, etc.

You avoid having to wait for FCCs or refunds to be processed.  You also don’t have to tie up any extra money aside from the deposit they already have.

Since you mentioned August 30 sailing, about 3 months away I know it is right around final payment time.

  8. Hi

Moving the deposit should happen immediately.  We just did that yesterday.  We have the same reservation number but our deposit was moved to a cruise next year different itinerary and different number of nights.  We pay the new rate for the new sailing (not eligible for lift shift) but did not need to pay a new deposit.

What may have happened in your situation from reading your description is you cancelled your September cruise.  Instead of moving the deposit could it be cancelled and you are waiting for FCC?

We have an August 29 cruise with final payment due this week.  If we cancel before final payment, can we get just the non refundable deposit in an FCC rather than making final payment?

OR....can we move that deposit to another cruise?  This cruise is an Alaska sailing. We'd probably change that itinerary.

    Hi

You can move your deposit to another cruise.   You keep the same reservation number.  Just make sure not to say cancel, but move the deposit.  We just did this to a different itinerary, different number of days sailing.  You pay the prevailing rate for the new sailing but don’t have to pay a new deposit.

Travel Agent. Let them work for you. Are you sure you want the refund or just a credit on the account? This will pass. Cruising will be back stronger than ever. 🙂

Hi.  I’m going with the refund on this one.  I know we’ll probably wait a while to receive it.  We have several cruises booked out to 2022 already.  I’m also expecting a few more cancellations before we get to sail.

I really  enjoyed reading your review. I am suppose to be on a cruise in January of 2021, but who knows what will happen.  Will I have to cancel or will it be done for me.

Loved the "Food Porn" pictures if I get the chance I would love to try the  pork belly.

Stay safe and here's to hoping we will all be on the high seas again.

    Hi

Thank you for the kind words.

I miss that pork belly - it was delicious, the best pork belly we’ve had yet

It’s so much easier to remember to take food pictures than pictures when you are running around.  I think we have more pictures of food than anything else.

I’m starting to wonder about January too.  We were hopeful that maybe by our New Year’s cruise things will be better but now we’re not sure about that either.  Scary times.

    Stay safe

Thank you so much for writing Noreen,

I don’t often read reviews but I really enjoyed your story style and have read it gradually over this evening (it’s 10.25pm in the UK right now).
Definitely want to try the Lawn Club and Tuscan Grill now looking at the food! We’re hoping to try Aqua Class as an in between and to get the Persian Garden and smaller Blu restaurant.
    Thank you again, Jen

    Hi

Thank you for your kind words.

We enjoyed the food on Celebrity.  We tried Blu for breakfast on our Celebrity Reflection cruise but never tried it for dinner.

Noreen, I think you can. We cancelled our reflection cruise in the PH because we had a lot of money paid on it and we were getting nervous. While I was on the phone with celebrity the suite showed up for booking at the same price so I immediately rebooked it. The concierge asked if I wanted to apply the FCC to the new booking. Both bookings were same ship date and suite. I was willing to lose $200 but not $11k in the event of bankruptcy.

Good luck. Your TA should be able to work it out for you.

Thank you for this.  I will reach out to my TA later this week and see if she can do that for us.

    thank you again

I'm not sure which cruise you are trying to move under lift and shift but here's our experience.

They would not let us switch from Reflection to Edge because we were in a RS and the price difference was too great.

If your Reflection Cruise is in January 2021, under the current rules your shifted cruise has to be the next year but within 30 days of the original cruise so February 2022 might work. You can go from a S Class to a M class.

If you outright cancel the January cruise you will get your deposit back.

You can make 1 change of a booked NRD cruise to another cruise without paying the $100 PP change fee. (We took this option to book Apex in 2022 instead of our Reflection cruise.)

If your Constellation cruise has price reductions or additional offers such as OBC you can take advantage of them. (There is currently a loyalty offer and a save now offer that saved us considerable $ on our 2 cruises.)

If it were me, I would try to shift the Reflection cruise to Constellation a year later to save the $5,000. Lose $200 deposit on the original Constellation cruise and take the FCC of $1600.

    Hi

That’s what I’m wondering if I can do.  But I am not sure since we’re already booked on the Constellation cruise I would shift the Reflection cruise to.  So I don’t really want to cancel Constellation just move my Reflection price over.  And if I had to cancel the NRD Constellation, use my Reflection booking #, and get the FCC for the Constellation deposit, could I then use that FCC on the same cruise it was cancelled from?

    Thank you for your help

  15. Hi

I am guessing the answer will be no, I haven’t asked my TA to call and ask officially yet, but figured I’d see if anyone here had a similar situation...

We are booked on Reflection late January 2021 - 11 nights - Royal Suite - ABC + Grand Cayman and Cartagena.  Refundable Deposit ($900 per person = $1,800)

If we want to lift and shift I see Edge doing similar but know they will exclude Edge from the promotion not being able to switch between S class and E class.

I also see one sailing on Constellation Feb 2022 - 11 nights - ABC + Grand Cayman and Key West.  Sounds like it should work.  It’s within the time frame, same number of nights, just about the same itinerary.

    Here’s the big wrinkle...

When we were on Silhouette late Feb/early March 2020 we booked that Constellation sailing for 2022 in a Royal Suite, non refundable deposit ($900 per person = $1,800)

We expected the upgrades to take place to Constellation when we booked and my husband wanted to try a smaller ship.

Our 2021 Reflection sailing is about $5,000 less than the 2022 sailing on Constellation.

Will they let us lift and switch?  What would happen to our deposits?

What I’m expecting is that we’ll be out of luck, can cancel our Jan 2021 and get our $1800 refundable deposit back and that’s it.

Thank you in advance if anyone has had anything somewhat similar

The answer is in the original post, it's even in bold

    Hi

i saw the initial extension.  I was wondering if they are going to extend any further than March 31.  I doubt we will be cruising this year (even though I keep holding onto a small bit of hope) so that doesn’t give much time to use it if we assume  cruising starts in January.  Again I am just guessing.  It is great they are trying to be accommodating with the extension but don’t know if March is extended enough.

  17. Hi

Is the number of days a hard rule?

We have a New Years cruise (2020/2921) booked on Anthem this year which is 8 nights.

The similar New Years  (2021/2022) cruise on Anthem for next New Years is 9 nights.

I know I can look at other ships but wanted to sail out of Bayonne since that is just an hours drive.

I am torn on New Years since maybe things will be in better shape by the end of this year and we can sail.  The fact that this new policy goes to April makes me wonder.

    Thank you
