Is it possible to embark at the second port of a cruise, in this case Bermuda, and to make things more interesting, a transatlantic?

A family wedding has just been announced for the very weekend my spring transatlantic departs.  After departing Ft. Lauderdale, the next port on our itinerary is three days later in Bermuda before six days at sea.   I'm considering joining the cruise in Bermuda.

I've departed a transatlantic early in the past so know that IS possible but never before have I embarked at a later port of call.

Decided to try my luck here first to see if any fellow cruisers have successfully done this in order to save myself from who knows how long on hold if I call Celebrity.

Thanks in advance for any helpful input!

I did pre Covid. I was supposed to board in Civitavecchia but boarded in Athens for a B2B including transatlantic due to the funeral of family. I had to clean it with Celebrity and since it was immediate family the insurance covered airfare etc.

  2. Yes twice. 1st time my sister passed unexpectedly. I was scheduled to fly to Rome on Saturday for a Monday B2B sailing. The funeral was on Monday. This was a Celebrity cruise. I instead flew from Houston to LA and on Tuesday flew from LA and boarded the ship in Athens. This we pre Covid. Insurance covered it completely. I needed a copy of the death certificate

2nd my then father in law got put on hospice 2 weeks before we were to sail. Insurance requested documentation from his doctor. They faxed documents and covered the canceled cruise.

Hopefully everything works out well for your family.

  3. I’m thinking about taking the grandsons on RC. I will buy 2 non alcohol beverage packages for them. I’m elite + on Celebrity so diamond on RC and will get the 4 drinks. Will I also have to buy a drink package for myself if buying for the boys? 4 drinks a day will be fine for me.

I was booked in a Single Infinite Verandah on Edge in October, but got upgraded for a very small price to Aqua Class during Move-up.  It still had the Infinite Verandah, which was fine for me.  The cons:  The view is straight ahead, and you need to stick your head out of the window to see what's to the left and right.  Some complain that the inside A/C shuts off when the verandah window is open.  Pros:  You have more privacy than a normal balcony.  For a single person, the A/C shut-off doesn't matter, since there's no one else trying to sleep when you're there.  In my experience, a Single Infinite Verandah on Edge Class costs less than an inside or outside cabin for a solo traveler.  Getting Aqua without Move-up saved me thousands over booking it to start.  We did not have to wear masks, no one tested positive for Covid on my cruise nor on the sailing before us.  I only got off the ship at St. Thomas, due to port changes and limited options, but I truly enjoyed being back at sea again.  While onboard I booked a Single Infinite Verandah on Edge to go to Australia and New Zealand in March 2024.  An upgrade on Move-up would be nice, but if it doesn't happen, I'll be happy where I'm booked.  On that cruise I do intend to go ashore as many stops as possible and will have wonderful viewing on sea days.

I have a b3b February 2024 on the Edge. Last of the 3 is March 7th I think.

As a nurse I always felt when the clocks turn back we should get paid for the extra hour on night shift. Never happened.

I worked 12’s and always got paid that extra hour and 13 the other way.

Where we are they recently lifted mask mandates and I went to the local big box store without a mask I was there for about an hour. The only place I went without a mask. Three days later I'm sick as can be with a runny nose, sore throat aches and chills. It took me two days before I felt I could go to the doctors. We both are vaccinated and boosted but you never know. I tested negative for covid the flu and strep. They said because I have been wearing a mask since covid started, my immunity to seasonal infections is low. I have is an upper respiratory infection. Rember those?  First time I've been sick in two years.

Same thing happened to my sister.
