We modified plans and went to Clarke Quay.   It is a robust area along the Quay -  pronounced Key per Iain, David and Robert.   Ok I take constructive criticism.

I'm pretty sure most Americans say "quay" with a q sound. In Belfast back in 2019, we were driving around looking for our hotel which was near the river & address said Quayside. Having phone problems & no map we asked people in the street & no one knew what I was talking about. Finally I showed the address to a woman & she said, you mean "keyside"!  At the hotel I was asked if we had trouble finding the hotel I mentioned the word Quayside & she said it's a french word, but I mean we're not in France! LOL

Looking forward to your report on the Edge, we board, March 13th!

Thanks for all the great info!

Thank you everyone for all the replies.  I think we will go ahead with the cruise. We have insurance.

I'm starting to do the pre surgery exercises and some walking. Walking is hard because of the pain in the knee but I know I have to also get my muscles ready.

Thanks again, your suggestions are helpful.

    Good Luck!

  3. So it depends on how your recovery goes. I had knee replacement this past March and I had a very good recovery. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights & followed everything my doctor & PT said to do. In May at 9 weeks I took a flight to Texas to visit family. I did ok with the flight & car rides, it was a relatively easy trip. I still iced my knee several times a day while I was there. I don't think your crazy, I live in NY & so I get the cold thing🤣

  4. We will be taking a Celebrity cruise to New Zealand in March. Then we are spending 10 days in Australia & then back to NZ in early April. We have 5 days in Auckland prior to a South pacific cruise. Are there any hot springs that are good for a day trip from Auckland or even an overnight that we could do via public transport? Many thanks!

  5. We did the canal on the Island in 2015 from Florida to CA  & then the Coral, in 2019 from California to FL. It was a great experience seeing & touching the original locks. Both cruises, we were in the most aft cabin on deck 8 Emerald. We were so close to the side of the lock that we could reach over the rail from our cabin & touch it! From those cabins you have a bit of a view of the wake too!

Thanks, had to cancel a cruise to CSL earlier this year,  I will bookmark this info for next year!

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

We just switched staterooms to an Aquaclass on the Beyond.  Every time we would walk into the bathroom, it was extremely warm.  Room attendant and maintenance both came and told us we needed to keep the bathroom light off because there is a heated mirror which feels like it’s about 110 degrees to the touch.  They said it was part of having an Aqua stateroom and to fix they would have to pull the mirror off the wall to lower the temperature.  Has anyone else come across this?  We’ve sailed many times in Aqua class on the Eclipse and Solstice, but not the Edge class.

Yes, I think it was on the Silhouette. We left the light on & the door closed, it was very hot. Spoke to our cabin attendant & he had someone look at it & got the same answer.

You'll be fine lots of drinks to choose from included in the Plus, if you do want something over the $15 you only pay the difference and tax on that.

Honestly, if you aren’t super picky about the hard liquor (I am not) you’ll be fine. I found maybe 4 or 5 drinks that were over the $15 limit. Three that I actually wanted to try (I pretty much only drink Vodka and tequila except for a few cordial type drinks).

Premier does have much better wine choices.

Thanks for the info! We were on the Crown back in 2019 on a transatlantic & loved the Good Spirits but my DH came down with the flu the last few days of the cruise & so we spent our days in the cabin & never got back to that bar.

I don't really understand your concern. There are thousands of us about to board Edge going through the Suez Canal to get the ship to Australia. None of us seem to have the deep rooted concern you do so maybe it is best you don't make final payment, find a "local" cruise

Have a safe & great trip! We'll be waiting for the Edge in Sydney! 😃

Possum52 is correct - technically. However I would never recommend that anyone stays in Docklands as it is a very bland and boring neighbourhood of Melbourne. If I were to come to New York and tell you that I have a nice hotel on Staten Island or the Bronx, would you not suggest that I stay in Manhattan?

If you need to use Marriott Points, I would suggest the Sheraton or The Westin, both Marriott products.

If you are not using points, anywhere east of Swanston St between Lonsdale and Flinders Sts would be Ok.

Ok I will look into those, planning to use some points but willing to pay to stay somewhere central & awesome! Of course, not super expensive either😁

About NYC, lived a good portion of my life in Manhattan so a bit of a snob. I would never tell anyone to go to S.I., but the Bronx is any easy & inexpensive commute into Manhattan for the budget conscious 😄

There is a tram stop just over a block from the Marriott. There are three tram lines which service Docklands - 1. City Circle Tram - This tram line will take you along Docklands Drive and then into Harbour Esplanade and around onto Flinders Street (on the southern edge of the city) which will take you right around the city centre and back to Docklands and is free to use.

    2. No. 70 Tram - travels along some of the same route as the City Circle but continues onto the eastern suburb of Wattle Park.

    3. No.86 Tram - travels along LaTrobe Street on the northern edge of the city and continues into the suburbs. It travels past Marvel Stadium, which is roofed but can be opened. It is used for AFL football, cricket in the summer and concerts.

    Tram Lines Servicing Docklands

There are plenty of restaurants around Docklands and across the river in the Southbank and South Wharf precincts - it is walkable to both but you could catch a tram to the corner of Flinders Street and Spencer Street and walk across the bridge to Southbank on your left and South Wharf on your right.

I would suggest you do some googling on restaurants in the three precincts I have mentioned. If you have any more questions please ask.

Thanks so much for your help, definitely will have more questions!
