I am very much looking forward to it and was wondering if it was possible to get a referral from someone?

Strongly suggest you read the conditions of the Regent Ambassador Programme:

“REGENT SEVEN SEAS CRUISES’ AMBASSADOR PROGRAM IS INTENDED FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBER REFERRALS. SOLICITING BOOKINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WEBSITES OR OTHERWISE MAKING GENERAL SOLICITATIONS TO STRANGERS SUCH AS TO A WIDE, UNKNOWN AUDIENCE, IS PROHIBITED. ANY SEVEN SEAS SOCIETY MEMBERS FOUND ENGAGING IN SUCH CONDUCT MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM, AND WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR AMBASSADOR CREDITS GOING FORWARD. ALL DECISIONS CONCERNING A MEMBER’S PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM AND RECEIPT OF BENEFITS OR AWARDS IS AT OUR SOLE DISCRETION”

  2. A final reflective overview of our 2023/2024 Holiday Cruise on Mariner:

    Cruise overall: Very enjoyable

Ship: We like the layout of Mariner, and the ship was in good order throughout

Suite: An excellent, roomy, well maintained PHC on deck 9. No major toilet issues - one half hour flushing outage during our 25 nights on board

Weather:  Changeable. Some windy rough weather early on. Mostly warm & sunny. Humid up the Amazon

Itinerary: Some interesting ports of call, but having now done the Amazon twice we probably would not do it again

    Service: Very good

Food: Very good. Lack of variety in fruits & cheeses

Drinks: We always got what we wanted in bars & restaurants

Entertainment: Could have been a lot better had the CD & entertainment team used some initiative. They did face the difficulty of a performer arriving with no luggage and a cocktail pianist with visa issues

Lecturers: The lecturers seemed OK, but none of the subject matter appealed to us. Most lectures were not related to the itinerary or time of year

Fellow guests: There was a significantly higher percentage of Europeans on this cruise compared to most Regent cruises. The people we met were mostly very interesting & friendly folk, some of whom we have sailed with previously. There were a few jerks, some entitled lounger hogs, and one couple left the ship in Barbados after a “rumble in the jungle” (a woman physically attacked another at the Boi Bumba show in Parintins 😮)

Excursions: A mixed bag. Some very good; a couple were poor.

So that’s all from us. Over to @crusin7 for the next chapter 😎

May I ask how you booked a car from the terminal to your hotel? Did you use Uber when you disembarked, or pre-book using a car service?

Regent arranged our car transfer to the hotel.

We used Uber this pm to/from a local mall for some retail therapy. Quick pick-up & good service both ways.

Ella has already made an impact……she sorted out some Library Books (aka Chair Hogs) who were enjoying an hour and a half in the shade on Deck 11 with no sight of their page turners………😁

Maybe the same as we saw on a number of days. This photo we snapped on Tuesday

No movement from 08:30 to 11:30 - presumably while the couple were ashore 🤨

Note the use of newspapers and library books to ensure no personal possessions are at risk !

  5. Disembarkation should have commenced at 07:45, with everyone to be off the ship by 09:00

In the event the first groups were not called until 09:30.
We were one of the first off, but by the time we found a porter and got through passport control (only two officers on duty) it was 10:00 before we were in the car taking us to our hotel.

We are now checked in and enjoying a glass of wine 🙂

The port authorities have decided that all luggage must be transferred to the terminal before any passengers can disembark and that the ship's crew cannot move the luggage to the terminal. Only port employees can do it. This seems to be a new rule that our CD did not know about.

Nothing new. Port and Union rules I believe 🤨

We have never left a ship on time in Miami.

Not a worry for us as our flight back to the U.K. is not until tomorrow evening, but a real pain for those with early flights or with drivers waiting.

Thanks to those who followed & contributed to this sporadic blog. Will try to do a summary review of our cruise later today.

  7. ………… and on the other side

Carnival Magic (just under 4500 passengers)

Also one or two other large cruise ships in Philipsburg today, so the attractive port area looks as though it has been over-run with ants.

Our first choice excursion (helmet diving) was cancelled so we intend to have a lazy day by the pool 😎

  8. Pulled back our curtains this morning to find we are docked in Philipsburg next to a huge block of flats, with very noisy residents.

On closer inspection we are next to the mega cruise ship MSC Seaside (over 5000 passengers)

The view in one direction is OK

………….. but looking the other way 😮

The loud music from the ship is now being drowned out by the noise of MSC loading container loads of goods onto this behemoth.

The ship is also blocking out the sun from our balcony 🤨

Time to go and find a quieter spot on our gorgeous ship Mariner; hopefully where we can see the sun 😎

Barbados - a glorious place to spend the last day of 2023

Since some parts of the world have already entered 2024, it is probably not too early to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳

PS: We met Ross, the pianist, coming on board this morning as we left for our excursion; so that will help the musical offerings in the lounges 🙂

I think there are 628 guests.  I am going to save our seats; probably right after tea. We have spent seven New Year’s Eve onboard and this will be first time trying to do countdown in Horizon; outdoor works best and atrium is a lot better than horizon.

David approached the GM this morning and he says that the NY countdown is intended to be spread across 2 or more lounges.

Pity this was not the way the CD described arrangements; and not as scheduled in Passages; with all entertainment pre-midnight being in Horizon.

We shall see how things pan out later 🤞 😉

Agree it would have been better on deck,  but they seem to have a forecast of rain

  11. As far as I am aware there is no need to complete the guest registration form in order to book excursions or dining on-line.

It can be completed closer to sailing date - must be done in order to complete on-line check in.

If you are still concerned ring Regent’s office in Southampton; they are very helpful.

Today is the ninth of ten sea days; there is only one lecture scheduled for today; on algae.

……… and no Spontaneous Duo playing on deck at lunchtime today.

They appeared briefly yesterday, but there appeared to be a technical glitch which meant they didn’t play more than a couple of chords.

Still, tonight’s variety show could be magic 🤔 . We will see 🤞

It is a very process driven ship

    Isn’t every cruise ship?
The difference we like about Regent is their flexibility and willingness to do something special when requested.

If you go up to order eggs, French toast, a burger at either location without that number you will not be served.

We do not find that to be an issue. If we have failed to note the number, then invariably the server will just ask where you are sitting and say “no worries, I will find you”

On Mariner at present and at the Pool Grill servers will take your order at the table - no need to go to the serving station
