Funniest part of this thread is the posts of those who take the complaints seriously...hard to believe.

Just returned home from the Equinox and boy are my fingers tired. I had to push a button to get an elevator ,then I had to push another to select the floor.
Next I had to push a button to get ice from the dispenser and the hold the cold glass as it filled up...I think I have frostbite.
Next there was no one there to help me move my mouse in the computer center...and i have a total fear of rodents.
And getting back to my cabin I had to flip the light switch up. Does anyone appreciate how hard that can be after spending a full day lifting adult beverages ?
Cruising is not what it once was.
-
And why is it so hard to find a bar ? Sometimes I have to crawl 20 or 30 yards to get to the next one. And why does someone keep picking up the olives I drop to mark my path back to my cabin ?
-
Last cruise I asked for a table that seated eight for my wife and me.
Sure enough we got it, BUT they put six other people at it !
Didn't they realize I just wanted to spread out and not be bothered by the conversation and eating of others ?

I absolutely LOVE this thread. I check it first thing every day so I start the day off smiling. Thank you drfun48 for starting it and thanks to everyone for adding to it!
Thanks but I didn't mean to start anything, I just felt I had a legitimate complaint about the requirement that I grind my own pepper that needed to be addressed.
Now I have to read about all the other serious deficiencies and the deterioration of service on a once proud cruise line. I never dreamed there were so many serious problems.
I think I need to take a cruise to feel better, but will I, given the current state of service ?
A friend just back today told me he had to lift his own weights in the gym , that he found three unpopped kernels in the popcorn in the cinema , and the escargot was full of stuff that tasted like snails.

Off key kids singing Karaoke when they should be poolside hogging chairs like they're supposed to be.
And one other thing, why do so many of the crew have foreign accents ?
-
I am appalled that there is no tuck -in service. If THEY can turn down, why not tuck-in. HUMPF,.I guess that the steward won't sing 'Soft Kitty" either.
Also, why are there only veritically moving elevators and not horizonally moving transport? What kind of modern luxury can it be if I have to walk from the dining room to the theatre every night?
Speaking of elevators, you wouldn't need them at all if they finally learned how to build these ships properly. Why so many decks ? Why not just one big one ? Sort of like a ranch style house,or a Costco.
And no more stupid questions like what deck is the casino on ? What deck is the MDR ? etc
They'd all be on the same one deck.
I also suggest that they make the ships round so you wouldn't have to worry about all that port and starboard stuff.
-
And did I mention the dining room waiter who did not ask, "How was you day ?" Oh, the indifference ! No one cares anymore.

Last cruise I went to a comedy show and one of the jokes wasn't all that funny. And to top it off, a juggler in the show dropped one of the balls he was trying to juggle. How bad is that ?

I learned on my last cruise during the muster drill that not only was there no priority seating on life boats for Elite CC, but that my premium drink package would be of no use to me since there was no bar on the life boat.
Might as well be on the Titanic,at least they had ice.
-
Why does everyone on board keep telling me to "Have a nice day." Don't I have enough pressure on me already as evidenced by what we are reading in this thread ?
-
I want to stay up late drinking and still make afternoon events. Can I get my steward to take my nap for me?
You had to open your own door ?
Probably taking a nap for mferranti.

I recently heard that the Rum Raisin ice cream will now only have 1 raisin. Apparently there is a shortage of raisins worldwide, and Celebrity is rationing.
I can live with that, times are hard, just as long as they don't cut down on the rum.
And horror of horrors, last cuise the cherry vanilla had no cherries, only vanilla.

Huh? I always thought that freshly ground pepper was a step up from a common pepper shaker. And how in the world would this equate to a decline in service? Did you require your waiter to sprinkle the pepper from the shaker for you in the past? I don't get what this complaint is about!:confused::confused:
No, I demand freshly ground pepper. I just don't expect to have to do it myself after a hard day at the beach or lifting numerous martini glasses ,tiring my wrists. I want to have my waiter or assistant haul one of those six foot mills to my table and do his job.

OH NO !!! Thread hijacked by a serious response .

A true disgrace ! Next we'll be turning down our own beds! Lol!

You think that's bad, recently on a Caribbean cruise my chocolate was on the night stand instead of the pillow.
I immediately called housekeeping and my attendant said he did it because I had raised the cabin temperature and he was afraid it would melt on my pillow.
How weak is that ? Why not chill the chocolate properly ?
-
Here's one of mine.
Has everyone noticed that pepper shakers in the MDR have been replaced by small pepper mills ? Do they now expect us to grind our own pepper ? Just another sign of the decline of service.

In our recent Australia/new Zealand cruise in jan they had a brunch buffet on the first sea day. It was really nice, with breakfast and lunch items including shrimp cocktail, prime rib, sushi and wonderful ice sculptures. Plus a chocolate fountain!!
Am I the only one who hates chocolate fountains? A total unsanitary, sloppy mess. That also goes for any liquor fountains.
Brunch buffet is standard feature on all X cruises now, Nice but I hate the lines and there's nothing you can't get in a more civilized manner in other places at other times.
But if it's your thing ...enjoy and go for it.

OK. Y'all convinced me. Just bought the drink package for our January cruise. It'll be fun seeing if I can come out ahead!! :o)
If you really come out ahead, you may not be able to see.

Because of my job and the need to drive sober when at home I seldom drink much. On a cruise I can walk to my cabin and no one ever asks me to steer the ship. So you might say I go overboard...almost literally.
A typical day starts with a cappuccino or two. By 11 it's a bloody Mary. With lunch a Margarita or a beer. Around 4:30 ,it's 2 or 3 martinis. With dinner at six, three glasses of wine and a specialty coffee with dessert as well as a sparkling water throughout.
Then it's on to the casino for a cognac or jack and coke. At the show maybe a vodka and tonic or a cordial. Following that it's to the disco or karaoke and some specialty rum drinks.
Finally an espresso at cafe baccio and a water for the room at night. On beach days we also take liter bottles of water to the beach. I kept track for a while and see that it would have cost me130 to 150 per day before tip.
At the discount rate of $49/day I figure I'm way ahead until I have to pay for the liver transplant.

I love wearing a finely tailored suit with a great shirt and tie. Even more I love wearing a tux, particularly on a cruise. Besides that i find it to be a babe magnet.
I am in a minority I know, but in today's world I'd rather be an independent thinker than to follow the crowd.
It also that it is a slippery slope from casual to sloppy. That is clearly evident on cruises.

Better beach in St John is Hawksnest--just as nice as Trunk -less crowded-right next door.. On St Thomas ,same is true for Sapphire bay with MUCH better snorkling.

I like being able to drink to excess and never being asked to drive the ship. All year long I always have to limit my partying for fear of DWI. At sea I can be rediculous. I like that twice a year.
Things that can spoil your cruise vacation.

Here's the topper,if your wife, husband,or significant other dies during the cruise, there is no pro-rated refund for days and meals missed and the automatic tipping is still charged the full amount. Cold and heartless I say.
