  1. Hi again So what do communication do you have from Celebrity in writing?? Is it reflected in your Manage Reservation tab??
  2. I understand what you are saying. Currently Wahwah only has the offer of a downgrade.
  3. Is Claustrophobia not a medical condition ?? Apologies WahWah, but you state that a parent is claustrophobic ??
  4. Well you are far more polite than I am. Try another agent?? As you say, different agents give different answers. Could you make a case that you need at minimum a balcony cabin on medical grounds?? Good luck
  5. If I was in your position, travelling with a claustrophobic parent, I would assess firstly whether an OV is a good fit for your party. Left field thinking, someone has posted either on this thread or a roll call, they were upgraded from a balcony to a concierge cabin and I would ask to be placed on a waiting list should such a cabin become available. If you don't ask............. Good luck
  6. Now that does not surprise me.
  7. I have booked PE fights ex UK as I too have mobility issues. However my ticket is fully refundable with no change fees with very small premium over non-refundable ticket. I check my account on Celebrity rather than rely on email. Que sera, sera.
  8. For what gain?? Most cruisers have not heard of cc or cruisehive. I don't think unfortunately, those who are cancelled have much legal recourse. Just OOI, when did LLP announce she was stepping down ?? and this then hit the fan!.
  9. I have also posted this link in the roll call: https://boards.cruisehive.com/topic/1619-celebrity-overbooked-in-japan-oct-2023-cruise/
  10. I am on the Oct 23 sailing and I read in CruiseHive that over 1000 passengers have been cancelled from that one sailing. I suspect that there will be a clause in the booking conditions that allows this so far out. Even in the UK where we have some consumer protection, I don't think because of the timeline, we would have much redress.
  11. Yes 3 years ago. I am surprised Japan allowed the ship back into Japan but she is there now sailing towards Aomori.
  12. I have read that too but I am sceptical because of the planned downgrade of covid regs within Japan but you never know: https://www.kanpai-japan.com/japan-travel-guide/border-closure-covid-downgrade-may-8-2023
  13. Some with an inside cabin have been cancelled too
  14. I agree the carnage suggests that no UAT was done properly but IME, IT are not the best department to do this. The Sales Dept is ultimately responsible. Solstice has 740 balcony cabins and the Millie less than 300. Did Wah- Wah not post that a Celebrity Agent stated that some Balcony Cabins had been triple sold?? Worst case scenario and working on double occupancy, Celebrity could be trying to fit 4440 people into available space for 600 per impacted sailing. I posted myself that asking for volunteers would be a good 1st move but Revenue Dept I assume has the numbers that may not support this. Annie
  15. IT is always blamed. Was there no human involvement ?? Asking for volunteers may not have yielded Celebrity the cabins they wanted to cull. Many of us suspected something was afoot months ago.
  16. Ship is moving to Australia - a more lucrative market??
  17. They replaced the Solstice with the Millie on certain sailings. That is a reduction of how many balcony cabins??
  18. I picked this up from my roll call - wahwah 'I thought I was safe but yesterday evening, I received a downgrade letter from an unobstructed balcony (triple) to ocenview on Oct 12, 2023 sailing. My cruise was booked during lockdown and it got lifted and shifted, so the price is cheaper than prevailing rate. My offer is to get $700 OBC for the downgrade (since my all inclusive balcony rate is cheaper than oceanview room at prevailing rate). However, when I checked the triple cabins for 2024, the price difference between balcony and oceanview is $1900 CAD for Oct 2024, so the compensation for the downgrade is not reasonable. We have all inclusive fare already and don't like to join tours, so getting OBC is undesirable, not to mention the amount of compensation is unfair to begin with. (I'm sure during lockdown the difference for triple was >> $700). I was on the phone with celebrity last night and they mentioned the "revenue team" has weighted the options. My guess is Celebrity is trying to evaluate which options will give them the most revenue before tossing bookings away. For my case, giving me the only option, e.g. downgrade with $700 OBC, is probably better than offering me cancellation or shifted to 2024 at my lockdown rate, since the prices have increase significantly after reopening. I booked my independent air and hotel already, which really screws my travel plan. But my parents prefer fresh air in the room and upper decks, so moving us to an oceanview and a lower deck is highly undesirable. FYI, i booked directly with celebrity and is elite status' It would appear that they are still working on the 'culling'.
  19. Alas there is always an exception to the rule. A UK passenger has been cancelled and she had booked BA Club Class flights independently to Tokyo. USD500 cancelled flight compo will not even come near the cost. On a separate roll call, a Canadian cruiser was advised accept the upgrade to OV from interior cabin by May 1st or consider your booking cancelled. You couldn't make it up. Annie
  20. Someone on my Roll Call (Oct 23) has just posted that their TA received a letter from Celebrity only today that advised them their booking was cancelled. The TA had checked previously with Celebrity if their booking was at risk. I think Celebrity needs to advise everyone the status of their booking on the impacted cruises. This uncertainity will be very stressful for many. Annie
  21. Unlike in many Western countries, the Japanese consider it rude to walk and eat in public spaces. They nearly always leave no rubbish behind. Recall the soccer World Cup ?? Their supporters carry black rubbish bags to the stadium and collect the rubbish as they leave. They even clean the rival supporters' area and their own dressing room. Annie
  22. Japan, JMO, is similar to NZ. Both countries are more enjoyable travelling through them as opposed to around them. Not difficult for a DIY trip. In the past I have combined land trips with a cruise. Just a thought. Annie
  23. Just to advise I booked my air, ex UK, with Luthansa and the additional fee for a fully refundable ticket in Premium Economy was only 150 Euros (approx). Good luck Annie
  24. FWIW I have not contacted my TA but I do monitor my reservation status via Manage Reservations, Just a suggestion, if you reserve your flights by using Flights by Celebrity, you do not pay upfront and if they cancel your cabin, you have no liability. Annie
  25. That was a seriously good deal. I am unsurprised your cabins were cancelled. If you can find an itinerary that suits you, I would suggest Lift and Shift. However keep an eye on airfares. I booked a refundable ticket ex UK in December and the price has now more than tripled.
