  1. We are taking the March 16th 2025 13 Day Caribbean Sailing (2) 3 days at Sea at the beginning and end with visiting 6 islands like we use to do on the QE2 and the earlier years of the QM2 from NYC.

Will bring back those sailings we always looked forward to in the Spring time of the year.

Haven't been to those islands in a long, long time.

One of these years I would like to do a full transit sailing

We did it along time ago on the QE2 from the West Coast to the Atlantic Side.

Got up around 530AM before going under the Bridge of the Americas on the West Side. Then transiting thru the Canal, the halfway point around 1PM. After transiting thru the complete Canal, we Anchored for the Fuel Barge while ate dinner around 630PM. We shielded ourselves under the Observation Deck from the Sun.

It was very hot and they were serving water on the Promenade Deck so people wouldn't dehydrate.

It was very interesting to experience and video tape it.

Pls attempt to book it and enjoy it.

You must be a Bay Ridge Boy! I’m a former resident of Shore Road and I loved watching the Sunday afternoon flotilla of ships going under the VNB.

Either Marine Traffic or Vessel Finder....app

Yes, in Front of Fort Hamilton. As a Community Club Member of Fort Hamilton, we watch the ships during dinner time while dining especially in the summer.

On Saturdays we can see about 2-3 going out and on Sundays 2-4 going out. The Queen Mary 2 is the ship that most people takes photos of. And also causes the Belt Parkway to slow down as she passes. Sorry to say, the others don't really attract attention along the Shore Walk....

You are certainly not alone! I check cruise mapper every morning over breakfast and throughout the day.I am especially excited when either of  the two Queens sail through the Dover Straits as we can see them from our house.

We too in the Entrance of NY Harbor uses different Marine Traffic aids to monitor the QM2 and other ship entering and when they will be viewed from our home.

It is very thrilling to see the image on the app approaching and then seeing the actual ship coming into full view in front of the home and by the VZ Bridge.

    OOOPs, sorry...not 😄

You are very welcome to your ship and many have to love her for her to be so popular. I'll stick to Aunt Tabitha's more up to date sitting room and leave the Great Aunts to you and those who love 'The Mary'. 😄

    Mary 2.....We Love You.!

imho one of the things that both Vlogers and reviewers get wrong is that they seem to try really hard to capture images when the areas are empty.  I want to see people.  I want to see how crowded it is.  I want to see the demographics.  I want to see how people are dressed. I want to see people having fun (or not),  In short, I want to see a realistic representation of what it's like on board.

I know someone that wandered around after Midnight with the ship empty and took photos.

So Bare..... I agree.....even the brochures show people active...

Yes, in PG we found out that personalized stationary needs to be asked for, if wanted, and need use room service for daily fruit (afterwards fruit delivered by steward).
I’d still trust but verify everything.

Last September we didn't have to ask for the fruit. Each day something missing, she replaced it without asking. We got it from our Stewardess not room service.

Stationary form was waiting on embarkation on the desk and got stationary the following morning on our desk.

Don't know if they changed. All worked well automatically..

  9. Last September we visited Quebec on the QM2 and docked there for 3 days. On the first day we took a tour and on our return the tour guide told us of a restaurant that was located in the terminal building.

Be hungry and there was several hours till dinner time we decided to try the restaurant for a mid day meal.

Le Café du Monde was a very enjoyable restaurant and very much the food that they served.

We both had a three cheese french onion soup that was excellent. Also my DW had a fish dish and I had and enjoyed Fish & Chips.

Service was very good and very suggestive to what we would be interested and they were right.

This is our suggestion if you are interested.

When we sail on our trips we do look forward when visiting certain islands/ports which we know of restaurants we wish to dine at instead of returning to the ship.

Like in St Maarten we like to stop at a restaurant which has another branch in St Thomas called Greenhouse. I enjoy eating some of the local cuisine which you can only get on to eat on a trip.

In Halifax on a Canadian sailing, we like Salty's Seafood Restaurant to have a great Nova Scotia Cold Water, Sweet Lobster Meat meal.

I know we also research other locations we may stop and visit on board to try them.

I know we are sailing and have meals available on board we paid for and are available for us to eat. If it will take sometime to return to ship and go thru the process to reboard, and settle in on the ship again and finally head to the restaurant. Why not just try a meal after some research and enjoy a meal that will meet our means ($$).

Just like touring and shopping while visiting a port, there are alot of great restaurant and local cuisine to try as of the a cruise.

I just received an email (actually the same one twice) from Cunard about the above, with an attachment setting out the details of my long-ago booked 2024 westbound, and I am looking at it and can't see anything that Cunard hasn't already confirmed previously

Am I missing something or is this merely a routine re-confirmation communicated in an over-dramatic way?

Got one too today and looking it over and seeing if there is any changes for our 2025 voyage.

    Will post if different.

    Was also surprised.

travelled in First Class on the QE2 we dined in the Columbia Restaurant (which was later renamed Caronia).

Our head waiter mentioned that we could order anything special for dinner by requesting it at lunch or the day before.

Although there was no a la carte menu, the daily menus were huge compared to what you get these days.

We too experienced that on the QE2 and enjoyed the offer. Dover Sole was the favorite of our table and those passengers around us.

The Head M'd there at that time David was very accommodating and allowed our Head Waiter to take our special requests with no problem. We enjoyed many dishes during  9 - 11 and/or 13 day sailings to the Caribbean. We selected items they were taking on at Ports of Call we were docked at that day for dinner.

Those menus, which I have copies of, were quite large to make a selection. No need for extra menu. Especially with those Midnight Buffets hours later to enjoy.

We will be cruising out of Bayonne to all Canadian ports on Jewel of the Seas.  The cruise ends in Quebec City.  Our first port of call is in Halifax Nova Scotia.  Will all cruisers have to go through Canadian Customs the day we arrive in Halifax? Do custom agents come on the ship that morning for clearance before going ashore?

I am questioning the length of time this will take to try and plan a private tour in Halifax. Port stay is only 7 am to 4 pm

    any experiences?

We did a 14 day sailing to Quebec and very much enjoyed Halifax our favorite Port of Call.

We do not typically see Customs coming in and our Halifax visit. We also come out of Brooklyn, NY on embarkation day.

We mostly walk, visit, shop and enjoy a favorite restaurant in Halifax for lunch.

Our Port of Call visit is typically 8 AM to around 5-6 PM..
